Edgewater Cottage is the garden cottage to Edgewater House, an historic St George's house built around 1851. As the name suggests we are right on the water, overlooking the pretty harbour of St George's. Enjoy sitting on the dock watching the boats go by or on our man-made beach complete with palm trees and loungers. Take a picnic to one of the islands on our 11' motor dinghy, or sail yourself around the harbour and islands in our sunfish. We also have bicycles for you to use and explore the town and nearby beaches (all with our compliments, but we do ask that you fill the dinghy back up with gas when you are finished). The cottage is small but has everything you will need, with a kitchen/living area complete with apartment sized cooker and fridge plus microwave, toaster and french press coffee maker on the upper level and bedroom with en-suite full bathroom on the lower, garden level. There is a TV in the bedroom as well as upstairs in the kitchen/living area. Outside the bedroom is a private terrace with adirondac chairs to sit and read and enjoy the view.
St George's is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as such has a wealth of history and site-seeing opportunities. There are fast ferries and buses to Hamilton, the capital, and mopeds are available for rent (there is no car rental on the island). The cottage is within walking distance of beaches and plenty of swimming towels will be provided. There is also a supermarket 5 minutes walk away, stocking everything you will need for your holiday....
Or grill some freshly caught local fish on your barbeque - our friendly fisherman will deliver directly to the dock.
The cottage is an ideal base for your visit to Bermuda, with a convenient bus stop right outside your door. All linens and towels are provided so all you have to do is relax and enjoy Bermuda.
Free airport pick up and drop off available upon request.
Please note some of the very kind comments below refer to our previous rental ... comments about us hopefully still apply!

We just spent seven days in this cottage and were highly delighted. (Would have loved to stay longer). This was our first trip to Bermuda and we covered the whole island with the bus and ferry service. Cost is now $56 for seven days but it is a bargain with unlimited travel. The bus stop is right outside and the ferry is a three minute walk. The cottage could not be more convenient, has everything you need and to be able to sit on the dock and enjoy cocktails or morning coffee is a special treat. St. George is very historical and we enjoyed exploring the different museums and forts. Crystal Caves are well worth a visit, very pretty. The beaches are very nice and plenty of good restaurants throughout the Island. Just jump on the bus, the system is unbelievable. Unfortunately, we ran out of time so we have to return to this wonderful little Island. The cleanest Island we have ever seen. We will be back and thank you to Sarah and Martin for making this cottage available to visitors. The airport pickup was another nice gesture. Sarah picked us up and within minutes we were in the cottage and getting settled in. We then walked into town, a five minute walk to get some groceries and the rest of the week was just enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. A wonderful week and nice memories. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

A really great cottage in St. Georges! My wife and I felt totally at home within minutes. Sarah, the owner, was a great sport (our flight was delayed one day by US Airways). Although the weather was unseasonably cool for this time of year.....we braved the cool waters with several snorkeling expeditions. The real bargain of the trip was using the island bus system. A weeks unlimited bus pass (including all ferries) was only $45. The bus goes absolutely everywhere and is easy to learn. The cottage is very charming with a nice little kitchen, two tv sets and modern bathroom. We ate out a few times......fantastic grouper & chips. Gorgeous beaches everywhere. People here a very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time and hope to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Thanks to friends of ours who highly recommended this cottage, we experienced a lovely long weekend in Bermuda. The cottage was extremely comfortable, the location was beautiful, the owners met all of our needs and then some! We loved the quaint town of St. George and the people we met. It was so easy to get to restaurants and shops. We also took advantage of the owners small boat and took off to explore the beautiful shoreline. Anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful location in Bermuda would really enjoy this cottage and its location. We have recommended it to friends and would definitely return again ourselves.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This was our fist time using VRBO, but definitely won't be our last. The cottage was perfect for us. Huge bathroom towels smelled so fresh. Well-stocked kitchen and bathroom with most everything we needed. Comfy bed. Took the dinghy boat out to explore the harbor. We also enjoyed the use of the owners' bicycles by riding the entire length of the island. Timed it just perfectly to see a spectacular sunset at Fort St. Catherine. It was such a short walk to the town of St. George, and the bus stop couldn't be closer (one day I sat on the bench in front of the cottage waiting for my husband and was surprised when the bus stopped for me, as I hadn't noticed the pink pole). When we came in drenched from getting caught in a sudden rainstorm, Sarah graciously let us use her clothes dryer. If I had to name one complaint, it would be the tiny little ants that gathered in the kitchen each morning, but I think that's pretty common throughout the islands. Wish we could have stayed longer at Edgewater Cottage. We are already planning a return trip!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind comments and sorry about the ants - an annoyance throughout Bermuda, particularly at certain times of year and after rain. We try to keep them at bay without using too much of the nasty stuff!

We arrived at Edgewater Cottage after the owner Sarah picked us up at the airport. The cottage is exactly as it is presented; the upstairs living area/kitchen, though cozy, has all the amenities one would need, and the lower bedroom/bathroom level is just as charming. Beautiful beamed ceilings and brick floors, along with dutch doors on both levels add to the charm of this cottage. A cute, private outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail, which we did every day! The convenient location was much appreciated; literally a 5 minute walk into town tolocal restaurants & pubs, and a bus stop immediately outside of our gate! The owners were present on site, yet gave us complete privacy. The ceiling fans and AC keep the cottage comfortable and the view is awesome out over the water. This cottage is a treasure and I can't wait to return!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our host Sarah picked us up at the airport on our Sunday arrival for our first-ever trip to Bermuda. On our 10 minute drive to her Edgewater Cottage we surprised Sarah with our news of our planned marriage in a simple civil ceremony at the Bermuda Registry General offices in the City of Hamilton. Wedding to take place on the following Tuesday. Upon arriving at the cottage, we were thrilled to discover how quaint & charming the cottage & its waterfront setting are. The mid 1800’s stone cottage has been totally updated to modern standards & amenities with stylish & comfortable décor & furnishings, inside & out. We absolutely loved everything about our waterfront accommodations. All this for a very affordable price too! And it was but a 5 minute walk to the downtown shops & restaurants in the delightful historic town of St George’s. Also, with an unbelievably convenient public transit bus stop immediately outside our cottage door, we took advantage of the wonderful bus & ferry system several times during our one-week stay, for fun sight-seeing trips throughout Bermuda. Including the spectacular, not-to-be-missed south shore beaches! We had planned to take a taxi on the morning of our wedding day to a lovely classic Bermudian hotel in Hamilton where we were to spend our wedding night. Upon hearing of the taxi plan, Sarah & her husband Martin, politely insisted that Sarah would drive us the half-hour to the hotel. When our wedding day arrived, Sarah pulled up in her car at the arranged time outside our cottage door – with her car decorated inside & out with fresh-cut wedding flowers! What a lovely & touching surprise! But the flowers didn’t end there. Sarah also presented us with the gift of a beautiful wedding bouquet for the bride & a boutonniere for the groom! How very thoughtful & generous of our gracious hosts to add such a memorable touch to their guests’ special day! Sarah drove us to our hotel, our simple wedding ceremony came off beautifully, followed by a horse & carriage ride to our hotel. All in all, we were blessed with a fantastic week in Bermuda full of special memories. Thanks in very large part to our wonderful accommodations & to our marvelous hosts, Sarah & Martin.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We arrived at the airport to find the owner waiting for us. This was perfect as we were unsure of who and where we would be met. The cottage is very nice and feels very spacious despite being so small. The pictures are spot on and the waterfront view was a nice treat. Within minutes of arrival, we took off on the bikes into St. George. We made it to Tobacco beach in 5 minutes. It was nice to use the bikes as walking is about 20 minutes. The description says bus stop outside door, but this is no hyperbole. It's literally 5' from the door. The bus service is Bermuda is one of the best we've seen and we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. In 3 days, we visited every parrish and took the ferry back from the west end. The owner also told us about a good set of beaches on St. Davids island. We were told they were better than horseshoe bay and we were skeptical, but the beaches were pristine and very private. (it is a 15 minute walk from nearest bus stop) but well worth it. All in all, this is a very great deal and will make for a great stay in Bermuda. The hosts are very gracious and helpful. We highly recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
