  We had a wonderful stay at Casa del Sol. The house was most beautiful, spacious, and in keeping with the tropics. The pool was great fun. The caretakers were very friendly and helpful, even cooking one meal for us. The best part of the week aside from relaxation was a visit by our grandson to the local school, where he spent an afternoon.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  We stayed at Casa Del Sol for a month at the beginning of 2012 and were absolutely thrilled with the property. It is immaculately taken care of by Rubin and Maritza, who are extremely friendly, kind, helpful and who ensured that our time in Placenia was wonderful. Everything we needed or wanted was provided (including some wonderful meals cooked by Rubin). The house is beautiful, the pool lovely and refreshing, the ocean blue and clear. My husband and I have travelled all over the world and Casa del Sol is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. We felt very spoiled and we will miss it.

  I stayed at Casa del Sol over Christmas 2010 with my parents (in their 70's), husband, and two 4 year-old boys. We all adored Casa del Sol! The house was absolutely perfect, with the exception of the too firm mattresses (I am a side sleeper and prefer a soft mattress), but I put an extra comforter under the fitted sheet and that worked fine. The boys swam in the pool multiple times daily, and we watched them build sand castles just beyond the pool while we relaxed on the lanai. Rubin and his family were wonderful, and the kids loved playing together. We took many walks along the beach by the house, and made extensive use of the golf cart. Our Monkey River trip was brilliant! We also loved the green iguanas that climbed up into the trees right by the upper lanai. We did get a bit of rain, and our last day was so cold we cancelled our snorkeling plans. We had several lovely meals cooked by Rubin, and also excellent meals in town. I was a bit frustrated that Placencia was so far from most of the attractions of Belize (but I was the only one). Most things of interest were over 2 hours' drive, but I would have known this if I had researched properly. The truth is that we all fell in love with Casa del Sol when we saw it online, and nothing else mattered. If I were to return to Belize (and I hope to), I think I would stay farther north, the better to visit the Mayan ruins, zipline, etc. I love to explore and adventure on vacation, but the rest of my family were perfectly content to relax at Casa del Sol, and I know they would all return in a heartbeat. One of the unique qualities of Casa del Sol is that there are plenty of little nooks to sit in with a book if you feel like being alone, but also plenty of room for the 6 of us to hang out together upstairs and down. We each had plenty of privacy in our separate "wings" of the house (we rented the entire casa). The kids were far enough from my parents, in their bunk beds (which they loved), that they didn't wake them in the am.

  The stay was pleasant and Rubin and his wife are the best. Please advise how to send gratuity to him. We realized that he was tipped a bit short. His name and address or an email of how to reach him would be great.
