This charming home is known to all as Empire Holly House, named for the holly growing in the front yard. We have owned it for 5 years and continue to make improvements.
It is located in the village of Empire... it is right on Front St. across the street from a small grocery, an ice cream shop, a wonderful library (with computers) and Joe's Friendly Tavern which serves Award winning burgers. There is also a popular artist's gift shop and an antique shop near-by.
Empire is located about a 25 minute scenic drive from Traverse City, about a 40 minutes from Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, and within 10 miles of several other small towns that have lots to see and do.

Why the Owner Chose Empire
We fell in love with our little cottage at first sight. We bought it soon thereafter and named it Empire Holly House because there are beautiful holly bushes in the front yard. It is close to the Empire Beach which now has a wonderful playground and includes access to South Bar Lake. It is at a perfect location near shops, library, and restaurant.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Although we have never stayed overnight at Holly House we enjoy it through our guests who all love it and the attention they receive. Lots of little extras are included (ex. fresh flowers, well stocked kitchen, very nice linens). We hope that you will enjoy it also.

We stayed here for a week with our two boys and this was the perfect house! The room with the two twin beds is great with large closets and storage. They even have toys for the kids. The master bedroom is a good size with a little table and chair off in a nook to the side, perfect for using a laptop (they also have wi-fi). This rental is right downtown Empire (which is a small town, but has all you need). There is an ice cream shop, grocery store and restaurant right across the street. The beach is only 3 blocks and with the wagon in the garage, it is easy to tote belongings to the beach. Empire Beach is wonderful and has a newer large playground, basketball court and fire pits (good for s'mores).The house was very clean and we had everything we needed. It was a comfortable place to stay. I'm so glad I opted for a rental for this trip vs. a hotel room...it is so much nicer to have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. when bringing children. The Figura's were very friendly and easy to deal with. I would suggest this rental to anyone who wants a wonderful place to stay by some of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan.

Beautiful home with all the amenities. We love the town and the proximity to the beach and hiking trails. A gem in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. We can't get enough of it. We come back each year wishing to stay longer. Our kids love the yard and the freedom to move around. the Holly House has become a home away from home for us. When traveling home the kids want to know, "when are we coming back." The Figura's have a top notch rental.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
