The Nest
Nestled in the middle of the internationally acclaimed Napa Valley sits a rustic little villa recently remodeled with all the modern conveniences of a new home. We fondly call this getaway “The Nest” because of how it sits perched high above the famous Silverado Trail and peers over it for amazing vistas. You’ll feel like lovebirds escaping to your own cozy romantic retreat watching the sunset over award winning vineyards of the Napa Valley all while sipping the finest nectar in the world that this valley has to produce!
This exclusive one-acre properties rough rocky hillside was finessed by it’s former owner, a Sicilian artisan, who tamed the terrain carving out unique vista points with a series of rock walls and staircases reminiscent of his home county and the hillside villas of Tuscany. This little rustic villa was recently rebuilt to include modern amenities. It’s expansion was designed by a Marin architect to enhance one very important feature - the views! The home integrates clean modern design with a rustic touch, such as a rock wall kitchen, travertine floors and a cellar door to a loft bedroom as a nod to the terroir’s history. The property was excavated to help build part of the Winery across the road which is one of the oldest wineries in the valley, surviving prohibition. It’s an easy stroll to sample some of the valley’s history and tantalize your taste buds with a sample of authentic Napa Valley fruit.
This cozy retreat is your home in the Napa Valley. Rest, relax and enjoy the vineyard views as you curl up on the leather couch to take a Nap after a day of tasting in the hot sun (There’s a reason it’s called Napa!). You’ll enjoy whipping up culinary creations while enjoying the vineyard views from the kitchen. There are new stainless steel appliances, granite slab countertops, and the cabinets are stocked so you can cook for you and your loved one and your guests. The bedroom is designed for Romance. Wake up warm and cozy as you watch the fog whisper through the vines or from your pillow stargaze through the skylight. The views make you feel like the lovebird you are enjoying all the sights and sounds of this beautiful valley. Escape to your little villa and enjoy all the best Napa Valley has to offer!
About the home:
The crown jewel is the beautiful living room with high ceilings that boasts 6 picture windows overlooking the valley and vineyards below. Tastefully appointed area rugs cover newly laid travertine tiles throughout the house. The kitchen boasts a brand new stainless steel refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. Beautiful granite countertops adorn the kitchen counters and the bathroom sink. The kitchen cabinets hold enough wine glasses, plates & silverware for 2 people for a month, or for entertaining many guests. The bedroom boasts an antique French headboard complete with down-alternative comforter (to reduce allergies) and privacy netting to add some romance to your stay. The bathroom is truly one-of-a-kind! The clean lines, views of nature and floor to ceiling tile shower make it a comfortable, cozy space.
What to do while you’re here:
The world renowned Napa Valley is blessed with award winning wineries & vineyards, historic sites, restaurants, open air markets, museums, galleries, boutiques, and wonderful opportunities for hiking & biking. The Nest is centrally located to embrace it all
Start your day with a brisk morning stroll, along the vineyards of the winery located right across the street! Return to the house along the Napa creek and watch as the drowsy morning fog begins to burn off and the warm sun peeks through to greet you on your own private deck. The Nest is located adjacent to the world famous Silverado Trail which hosts numerous cycling events and attracts cycling enthusiasts from around the world! The Napa Valley Marathon winds it’s way through most of Silverado Trail and passes by the Nest during the race.
Spend the rest of the morning shopping at the St. Helena outlets, visit the celebrated Yountville Museum of Art, take a culinary seminar at the Culinarty Institute of America in St. Helena or at COPIA in Napa, dare to experience a hot air balloon ride or shop at the fresh organic vegetable stands, sip wine from the balcony of the Castello di Amorosa, take a gondola ride up to Sterling Winery, stroll through 2 story tall art exhibits at Clos Pegase, pop into the world renown Champagne house of Schramsburg, explore the outstanding wine caves of Rombauer Vineyards or see breathtaking views from only a ½ mile atop Rutherford Hill Winery.
If you like wine and the Napa Valley lifestyle, we’re located in the middle of it all! and… nothing is spared to enhance your comfort at our house.

Location, Location, Location! Wonderful little cottage! We looked out across the vineyards each and every day! The property does need a few minor fixes and Hwy 29 can be quite loud at times. But aside of that, A great property at a great price!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I dont think we could have picked a better spot to see napa valley. Great views , place was very nice. The highway is a little noisy, but you get used to it. Even though you are near the road, it is very private. We would definitly return and stay hereRecommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This rental experience was a big disappointment. Right from the beginning it was difficult to communicate with the owner. He would tell us he would e-mail information and never did so. It took repeated e-mails to even get the directions to the place. When we arrived, the place had not been cleaned from the previous renter. We called the owner who blamed it on the cleaning crew but when we returned a few hours later, the cleaning lady was still there and she made it clear that the owner never called her. The steep driveway getting to the house is rough and rocky and in serious need of being graded. You really need 4 wheel drive to navigate it. There were times we didn't think we would make it. The interior has been neglected. The pictures must have been taken right after it was renovated. Although the kitchen was decent, the tile floors are chipped and the furniture is getting shabby. The view across the street to the vineyard is nice but what the owner doesn't tell you is that the busy Silverado Trail is between the house and the vineyard and the traffic noise from cars and large trucks is deafening. It was hard to sleep because of it and you couldn't sit outside. The outdoor furniture was tacky as well. The only good thing about the place is that it is close to St. Helena and many vineyards. I have rented through VRBO before without any issues but I would not recommend this property to anyone.Owner response: Dear Guests, We are truely sorry for your disappointing stay. It is our goal that every guest has a truely unique and enjoyable experience at the Nest. I wanted to address a couple issues mentioned in this review. First, about the cleaning crew. My cleaning crew had a family emergency the day of their arrival (hospital, stitches, etc.). I wasn't given notice. When the guests contacted me I called my backup crew ASAP. She arrived and tried to clean the cottage before the guests returned from dinner, obviously, she had just been called by me only an hour earlier. Granted, it is a terrible experience to arrive at your destination and find the place unclean. Given the circumstances, we tried our best to correct the oversight as soon as possible. This kind of thing happens only in a blue moon. Secondly, the driveway IS steep. I will try to convey this point more Thirdly, the BEST thing about the Nest is it's location. Minutes to over 100 wineries, one across the street! The only downside to the Nest is it's biggest asset, the location. We are close to Silverado Trail. If it's commute hours 8am & 5pm there's traffic, locals heading to/from work. At night however, you can sit out on the deck and hear Coyote howl and frogs... because there's just you and no one else for miles.... For some, it would be water under the bridge... unfortunately, the rest of the review was effected by this initial experience. Guests tell us all the time, "The kitchen is immaculate", the "views are stunning" or "we couldn't hear the road even though it's close by". The place has been rented hundreds of times and we've only gotten 1 negative review. Five have been 5 stars. One 4. Again, we are dissappointed that these guests were disappointed. We hope they'll return to the Wine Country and enjoy another place that will provide them with happiness and romance Dan the Nest

This is a really lovely place, a great location to explore the entire Napa Valley, and quiet despite being on the Silverado Trail. Well-maintained and clean with ample linens etc. The alcove bed, though it took a bit of getting used to in terms of getting up and down into the alcove, was a perfect "snuggler's cave." All-in-all, highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We came to Napa as a last minute anniversary trip and we are soooo happy we decided on this place. Like others have mentioned, the pictures do not do this place justice. Everything is very new and clean and comfortable. Both the view from the cottage and the cottage itself are gorgeous and the location is ideal. It is very private and quiet, even though it is off a main road. They also have plenty of heaters (built in as well as portable) to make sure you stay nice and toasty (we went in December so it was nice to come home from wine tasting and put a movie on and cuddle on the couch). It's about a 20 minute drive from Calistoga, and really close to St. Helena, so you are literally in the middle of wine country. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we plan on coming back again!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautiful view. I took Valerie here for her Birthday, we enjoyed visiting the wineries and spas, the cottage was a very romantic getaway, we loved the privacy, the sites and the night skies. The outdoor shower was a fun feature, we just wished the hot tub was running, now that would have been amazing. Thanks for the getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent 10 days in this beautiful Cottage. I surprised him for his special birthday And he really enjoyed it. The Nest is everything That the website says and more. The cottage is Very spacious and has all the amenities needed For an enjoyable vacation . It is decorated beautifully And has an awesome additional outdoor shower. We went to the entire Napa region to stop at the Wineries and nearby restaurants which were all Wonderful. We also made some delicious meals to enjoy with a great bottle of wine. We watched Fireworks on the 4th of July overlooking a nearby Winery on the deck at the Nest. We would love to Return tomorrow. It doesn',t get any better than that. We loved this place! It was a beautiful little cottage with a great view. It was so convenient to the wineries that we were visiting. The pictures don't do it justice. The furnishings are luxurious, and I loved the kitchen and bath. We love staying in a home vs. a hotel or bed and breakfast. There is so much more room and privacy. The owner was very helpful in recommending places to visit and restaurants to eat at. We want to go back already!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A beautiful property for a relaxing and romantic getaway! We found this property to be everything the listing said it was and more. The secluded feel and terrific views right in the heart of wine country are a refreshing change of pace from the many hotels and condos in the region. The well appointed and updated decor is lovely, and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make dinners to go with that favorite bottle of vino! We found the owner and his family to be friendly, accomodating, and helpful. We'll definitely recommend this vrbo property to family and friends visiting the area. Be sure to stop in to the vineyard right across the road - they'll treat you like a special guest when you tell them you're staying nearby.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: We're so glad you had a fantastic time in our special little hideaway... We hope every guest enjoys a wonderful stay in the heart of the wine country

Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Married with a beautiful 4 year old daughter. Local of the Wine Country. 2 brothers are wine makers. Family owns a vineyard and makes wine for friends and family
Why the Owner Chose Calistoga:
Location, Location, Location - it simply doesn't get any better than this cottage when tooling around the Napa Valley. We bought a 400 sq foot one room tear down... magically turned it into an impressive, Tuscan inspired ~1,000 sq foot 2 bedroom cottage overlooking beautiful vineyards on an acre in the heart of the valley. We're blessed to be able to offer this amazing rental to our guests to enjoy!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
There are approx. 100 wineries within 5 miles in any direction. There are NO neigbhors... there's an outdoor shower which is an absolute awesome experience. You can walk across the street to a winery... it just doesn't get any better than this.
