What a unique casita and in such a scenic location! We always love our stays in Taos, but this casita suited our needs best! A nice big yard for our two labs, a quiet location, and oozing with Taos charm! We enjoyed walking and running in the area, and discovering side roads and scenic views. We found the cut-off road to Arroyo seco and enjoyed the Cow! Great food and coffee! Our dogs enjoyed relaxing in the shade of the front porch and felt right at home - they even found dog bones in the yard! Taos continues to draw us back time and again, we will surely stay at this unique casita again! Mary and Hector Daisy and Zena Penose, Colorado

We had a blast this past week and the house was excellent. Mike and I travel so much and stay in VRBO or Home Away properties all the time and this was definitely one of our best picks. The yard for the dogs was so easy, and we met our neighbors and spent time with them which was nice. We hiked everyday and enjoyed the trip so much we are thinking of coming back this summer to hike Wheeler Peak. Again, thank you so much the place was just amazing!

We stayed July 19, 2011 Through the the 23rd. It was delightful. We loved the quiet and the cool breezes moving through the house especially in the evenings. I sleep on the bed with the window open watching the stars and enjoying all the night time noises, just like sleeping under the stars. The kitchen was well equiped with everything we needed. Ann was a pleasure to work with right there if you needed her. Would love to come back next year. Thank you Ann for sharing your home and I love the colors you used with the tile.

I just wanted an inexpensive ski vacation and what I got instead was an amazing experience that felt like I should have spent a fortune. This casita is only 15 minutes from the ski resort and is in a high desert paradise. It is located on a road that has this incredible drop off to a valley below and huge views of mountains and hills beyond. It is a vista that cannot be captured fully in a photo. After skiing we had a fenced in yard for our dogs as we sat outside and watched the sun set with this amazing view ahead of us with absolutely no obstructions. It was super quiet and serene with no traffic. The inside of the casita reminded you that you are in Taos in every single room. It was so cozy and filled with homey touches that made a very romantic and majical getaway for us. Thank you Ann for such an amazing EXPERIENCE.

The more we're here, the better it gets. I also want to say that I'm really enjoying your moon series on the living room walls. (plus everything else on your living room walls...). I have wondered how an artist could capture the effects of the full moon on a place like this, and here you've done it. Well, everything is perfect. Right down to the treetops catching first light in the kitchen garden to the brilliant sunset over the Mesa. My god, the light here! And I was up in the middle of the night looking at the Mesa under the moon, too. Okay I'll shut up now. But wait! Your book selections! The skylights! The Lady of Guadalupe coffee table! The painted screen! All the other details! Did you order up the magpies and coyotes, too?

Me and my human spent almost 3 weeks here. My person really liked the arty and artful style of the casita and was happy that great style came at no expense to comfort. According to her the WIFI was fast, the bed firm and covered with great linens. I don't let her go out constantly and was glad that she really liked cooking in the kitchen which had EVERYthing humans apparently require. My owner also really liked the margaritas at Sabroso in Arroyo Seco and Old Blinking Light on 150, the yummy and for real food at Guadalajara Grill and Taosenos, the pricier and gringo-er food at Doc Martin's and Orlando's. She liked Moby Dickens too but i think she reads too many books. I really liked hiking on lots of different trails, near the Taos Ski Valley, and around Pilar, Red River and other national forest trails. I also got really good bones from el Cid. I did not get to go with her to Santa Fe, but i didn't really care because i got a great massage and pedicure at 10,000 waves while she was away at 10,000 waves. She thought her bathroom was really fun; i liked having my own private yard--i could go out by myself, but since i don't really trust her in the house on her own, i tended to make her come with me. I wanted her to share the glorious views from the portal while i was in the yard. Bring your human; i think you will both be extremely happy.

My husband and I had the great pleasure of staying at the casita for five nights in May 2010. The casita is so charming and comfortable. It was heavenly sitting outside on the portal and just enjoying the quiet and fresh air. Ann was available to answer all questions & inquiries. We will definately stay here again if we are back in the area.

We chose this rental because of its proximity to the wedding we were attending. It was perfect for all our needs. The views were beautiful and it was close enough to town for restaurant dining any other needs. If you like quiet destinations, this is a wonderful place to stay!

This casita is exactly as pictured and described and provided us with a comfy, private space to call home while we enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells in and around Taos. It was hard to leave, but will be sooo easy to come back to!

We had a great time staying at your casita. The view from the front porch was fantastic. And we appreciated being outside of town. Close enough to get into Taos or the mountains whenever we wanted, but away from the crowds. We loved how quiet it is! And being dog friendly was a big plus for us.

Ann, thank you for the use of your beautiful home! It was perfect! Besides being such a charming place and beautifully decorated it was like being home. Except without the chores! It had everything and was one of the most enjoyable, peaceful, beautiful trips I have ever had. Not to mention I felt perfectly safe as I left my husband and 3 kids at home this trip. Thank you so much I will be back as fast as I can!

Our stay at the casita in August was another lovely experience renting vacation apartments/houses directly from the owner. The casita was all that was described and more. Totally charming both in location, decor and convenience. Fresh flowers were even there on our arrival. The casita was spic and span on our arrival and well stocked with the necessities. The owner was only a phone call away if we needed advice on anything. We delighted in watching the summer thunderstorms move down the valley below and seeing the splendid NM sunsets. The art, shopping and restaurants in Taos are wonderful, but we often didn't want to even leave the casita because it was so peaceful and lovely there. Another visit is definitely in our future and we've told all our friends what a great place this is...

Gas: $3.40 / gallon Winter gear: $350.00 Ski lessons for two: $170.00 Handmade souvenirs: $90.00 Snowmobile rentals: $140.00 Watching my 13 year old son build his first snowman with his 18 yr.old brother... ~ PRICELESS. This casita IS as charming, enchanting, cozy, colorful, whimsical, serene, and delightful as "Ann" and the other guests suggest. You have all of the comforts of home, while enjoying a picturesque and magical setting.
Owner response:We loved having the Gilberts and appreciate the opportunity to provide them with Snow! The fact that there were three of them, however, was a major exception to our policies and we can really only accommodate two people at the casita. Thanks!

What a magical place to stay. Ann is the perfect host; there when you need her, but not hovering. Her casita is the perfect place to return to after a long day of exploring the area. She is a fountain of information about what to see, what to miss and where to get the best prices on local crafts. We'll be back!

I just wanted to add a personal endorsement to the comments already posted about the little Casita (one of which is ours!). The Casita is utterly charming, clean, authentic but updated, beautifully decorated, cozy, private, convenient, dog-friendly, and an incredible value. I can still remember sipping morning coffee on the portal in that crisp Taos air, brilliant sunshine bathing the mountains in the distance, and watching our greyhound bound around the yard chasing imaginary rabbits. We will go back as often as time off and funds allow...and we will stay at the Casita when in Taos...we had magical moments there...just other-worldly and beautiful...thanks Ann!...love in absentia, Kris, Ginger & Ruby (the greyhound)

You may wonder why this casita is so inexpensive -- it's because I think that $80/90 per night is enough money. (The way I see it, you either have enough money or not enough, and this gives me enough!) So take a look -- I know you'll enjoy it here, and thanks for being interested. Ann
