We went on a getaway to the Casita de Taos. E-mail made it easy, we had no hassle with our dog and the place was warm and friendly. Out of town and up of the ridge top, but not to far from the bustle of Taos. We enjoyed exploring Arroyo de Secco and the Rio Grande bridge. The casita had all the comforts of home and the three night stay gave us time to relax and mellow. The art work is extraordinary, the kiva fireplace enchanting!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this adorable little casita and had a wonderful time! It was in the perfect location for driving to Taos ski valley to ski for the day or driving into town for dinner & shopping. The place was so cozy and peaceful with amazing views! And Ann was so helpful in providing us with any information that we requested and very fast in responding to emails! We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Casita for 4 nights for spring break. We loved it!! It was the perfect place with a great location to Taos and the ski valley, so we spent time both exploring Taos and skiing! It has everything you need for a vacation and everything is as described. The view is incredible! Also was nice to have TV and wifi for those nights we were exhausted after skiing. Also, you must go to Orlando's!! We loved it so much we went twice. Thanks again Ann for such a great spring break!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

"It was hard to leave the warm, welcoming nest of the Casita. We absolutely loved it! The living room and bedroom were perfect, the kitchen met all our needs (we cooked for ourselves quite a bit) and the bathroom is beautiful! Great job with the tile! That new heater works great - we actually had to turn it off a few times when we were using the fireplace, to keep it from getting too warm (and that's when it was 10 degrees outside!!!). There was plenty of firewood, including some pieces of pinon or something that smelled fantastic when we burned it. We used the TV only once, so my wife could watch her NFL team in the playoffs, and it worked perfectly. Our dog loved the yard, and snoozing in front of the fire... I think he thought he was in "doggie heaven". We spent much of our time resting and reading, just recharging our batteries. It was very very peaceful. All the locals we met were great - friendly and helpful, and laid back too. We loved Arroyo Seco, Taos, the Church of St Fransis, the Gorge bridge and trail (saw some bighorn sheep up close!), the ski resort, the views, and pretty much everything else. Thanks again for everything. We will most certainly be back!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

By far our best summer stay in the Taos area. We stayed in this charming casita in late March, we decided to vacation at this same place for the summer. My wife, two dogs and I feel at home here. I run, hike and ski and these three activities are all within 25 minutes. I enjoyed running in the area, great views of the Valdez Valley, terrain and very little traffic. We hiked in the Williams Lake area and I finally summited Wheeler Peak, head trail parking lot only 25 minutes away. Last spring I skied at Taos Ski Valley, only 15 minutes. Oh, did I mention, my wife likes to shop and go to the art galleries at Arroyo Seco and Taos, both very close. We enjoyed having breakfast in the portal with a majestic view of the Valdez Valley. We enjoyed coming back to a very cool adobe house after our outings, our dogs enjoyed sitting and resting in the cool portal. We will definitely stay here again, Home sweet home while on vacation. Great for those who appreciate the outdoors and art. Great art work displayed in the casita of the owner. Thanks for a wonderful time! ¡Gracias por unas vacaciones de maravilla!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing.

Thanks again for letting us spend a few relaxing days at your casita-with-a-view. What a beautiful area - we had never been on the Rim Road in all the trips we've made to Taos. The casita is colorful and cozy. I spent some time just staring at the timbered ceiling. There's always something magical about the Taos adobes, and yours is no exception, especially for the so-reasonable price.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We've been enjoying your cozy casita immensely and will be sad to leave tomorrow. The view is amazing and sometimes, as much as we love looking at art in town, we just want to come back to it! We've been walking around the area a lot - beautiful. We love the adobe fireplace (just used the living room one) and the window seat especially.Did you find this review helpful? What a unique casita and in such a scenic location! We always love our stays in Taos, but this casita suited our needs best! A nice big yard for our two labs, a quiet location, and oozing with Taos charm! We enjoyed walking and running in the area, and discovering side roads and scenic views. We found the cut-off road to Arroyo seco and enjoyed the Cow! Great food and coffee! Our dogs enjoyed relaxing in the shade of the front porch and felt right at home - they even found dog bones in the yard! Taos continues to draw us back time and again, we will surely stay at this unique casita again! My wife and I made a late season trek to Taos from Dallas for some skiing. First, I'll give the technical review. Rental process was perfect; professional, communicative, smooth. Casita was as advertised: clean, well-stocked (light bulbs, sheets, dishes, etc.) and ready for us. The fence is dog-proof. Convenient to town and hill. Now a review with feeling: literally, perched on a canyon rim. Beautiful vistas to the north and west. Casita oozes character: appropriately decorated, unique guestbook. Owner was great to work with. Our dog absolutely loved the huge backyard (technically, part of the larger casita next door that was empty during our stay). About 15 minutes into town, 25 to hill. Incredible night sky. Would definitely recommend this unit or the one next door (assume it's just as good) and would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a blast this past week and the house was excellent. Mike and I travel so much and stay in VRBO or Home Away properties all the time and this was definitely one of our best picks. The yard for the dogs was so easy, and we met our neighbors and spent time with them which was nice. We hiked everyday and enjoyed the trip so much we are thinking of coming back this summer to hike Wheeler Peak. Again, thank you so much the place was just amazing!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed July 19, 2011 Through the the 23rd. It was delightful. We loved the quiet and the cool breezes moving through the house especially in the evenings. I sleep on the bed with the window open watching the stars and enjoying all the night time noises, just like sleeping under the stars. The kitchen was well equiped with everything we needed. Ann was a pleasure to work with right there if you needed her. Would love to come back next year. Thank you Ann for sharing your home and I love the colors you used with the tile.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I just wanted an inexpensive ski vacation and what I got instead was an amazing experience that felt like I should have spent a fortune. This casita is only 15 minutes from the ski resort and is in a high desert paradise. It is located on a road that has this incredible drop off to a valley below and huge views of mountains and hills beyond. It is a vista that cannot be captured fully in a photo. After skiing we had a fenced in yard for our dogs as we sat outside and watched the sun set with this amazing view ahead of us with absolutely no obstructions. It was super quiet and serene with no traffic. The inside of the casita reminded you that you are in Taos in every single room. It was so cozy and filled with homey touches that made a very romantic and majical getaway for us. Thank you Ann for such an amazing EXPERIENCE.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The more we're here, the better it gets. I also want to say that I'm really enjoying your moon series on the living room walls. (plus everything else on your living room walls...). I have wondered how an artist could capture the effects of the full moon on a place like this, and here you've done it. Well, everything is perfect. Right down to the treetops catching first light in the kitchen garden to the brilliant sunset over the Mesa. My god, the light here! And I was up in the middle of the night looking at the Mesa under the moon, too. Okay I'll shut up now. But wait! Your book selections! The skylights! The Lady of Guadalupe coffee table! The painted screen! All the other details! Did you order up the magpies and coyotes, too?Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

Me and my human spent almost 3 weeks here. My person really liked the arty and artful style of the casita and was happy that great style came at no expense to comfort. According to her the WIFI was fast, the bed firm and covered with great linens. I don't let her go out constantly and was glad that she really liked cooking in the kitchen which had EVERYthing humans apparently require. My owner also really liked the margaritas at Sabroso in Arroyo Seco and Old Blinking Light on 150, the yummy and for real food at Guadalajara Grill and Taosenos, the pricier and gringo-er food at Doc Martin's and Orlando's. She liked Moby Dickens too but i think she reads too many books. I really liked hiking on lots of different trails, near the Taos Ski Valley, and around Pilar, Red River and other national forest trails. I also got really good bones from el Cid. I did not get to go with her to Santa Fe, but i didn't really care because i got a great massage and pedicure at 10,000 waves while she was away at 10,000 waves. She thought her bathroom was really fun; i liked having my own private yard--i could go out by myself, but since i don't really trust her in the house on her own, i tended to make her come with me. I wanted her to share the glorious views from the portal while i was in the yard. Bring your human; i think you will both be extremely happy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at the casita in August was another lovely experience renting vacation apartments/houses directly from the owner. The casita was all that was described and more. Totally charming both in location, decor and convenience. Fresh flowers were even there on our arrival. The casita was spic and span on our arrival and well stocked with the necessities. The owner was only a phone call away if we needed advice on anything. We delighted in watching the summer thunderstorms move down the valley below and seeing the splendid NM sunsets. The art, shopping and restaurants in Taos are wonderful, but we often didn't want to even leave the casita because it was so peaceful and lovely there. Another visit is definitely in our future and we've told all our friends what a great place this is...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Gas: $3.40 / gallon Winter gear: $350.00 Ski lessons for two: $170.00 Handmade souvenirs: $90.00 Snowmobile rentals: $140.00 Watching my 13 year old son build his first snowman with his 18 yr.old brother... ~ PRICELESS. This casita IS as charming, enchanting, cozy, colorful, whimsical, serene, and delightful as "Ann" and the other guests suggest. You have all of the comforts of home, while enjoying a picturesque and magical setting.Owner response: We loved having the Gilberts and appreciate the opportunity to provide them with Snow! The fact that there were three of them, however, was a major exception to our policies and we can really only accommodate two people at the casita. Thanks!

I just wanted to add a personal endorsement to the comments already posted about the little Casita (one of which is ours!). The Casita is utterly charming, clean, authentic but updated, beautifully decorated, cozy, private, convenient, dog-friendly, and an incredible value. I can still remember sipping morning coffee on the portal in that crisp Taos air, brilliant sunshine bathing the mountains in the distance, and watching our greyhound bound around the yard chasing imaginary rabbits. We will go back as often as time off and funds allow...and we will stay at the Casita when in Taos...we had magical moments there...just other-worldly and beautiful...thanks Ann!...love in absentia, Kris, Ginger & Ruby (the greyhound)Did you find this review helpful? You may wonder why this casita is so inexpensive -- it's because I think that $80/90 per night is enough money. (The way I see it, you either have enough money or not enough, and this gives me enough!) So take a look -- I know you'll enjoy it here, and thanks for being interested.
