Our family went down for my daughter's wedding. We loved staying at The Ivory Coast. It was decorated so nicely and Betha was so accommodating. Everything we could possibly need was there. The location was excellent. Our stay and the place couldn't have been better for our group. I would highly recommend staying at this property.

Nothing but the best at this condo!

This one checks all the boxes, folks: Next to the water (walked to the beach) Upscale Fully furnished kitchen with coffee and other helpful things Beach toys, umbrellas, and chairs Nice TVs throughout (though we never watched TV) Beautiful decor Comfortable beds Nice furnishings Convenient to Starbucks, the grocery, and CVS! Twin beds for the little ones (they loved the beds) This was our "home base" for lots of fun packed into a few days. Sailed on a tall ship at the Harbor. Visited the Ocean Institute. Played at the beach all one day. Drove up to Simi Valley to see the Reagan Library (long drive but darn well worth it), Went to a college football game at the Rose Bowl. Ate lots of delicious seafoood. This one is a winner and we certainly hope to come back someday! Super nice and helpful owners, too!! Thanks Beth!!!

Beth, What an awesome condo.....my family enjoyed themselves immensely. The condo had everything that a family needs to enjoy a Southern California vacation. The sunset from the patio was amazing. We have some great pictures! Also, having the condo stocked with shampoo, bath soap, laundry deteregent and dish soap was great. Since I cook a lot,I was thrilled to see all of the spices and condiments that you had in the kitchen. My boys loved that the beach was close and that there was a beach chair for everyone. Of course the football, frisbee and boards were a big hit with them as well. We loved the location as it enabled us to go to San Diego as well as LA. I loved the fact that the grocery store was just down the street. We decided that this was the best vacation condo that we have ever rented. Thanks for the welcoming apple pie too!

Immaculate Beach Condo with all the trimmings!

Perfect location! Immaculately clean! The condo was well stocked, dust free, and beautiful! The ocean air flows right through - and you can light a fire if it gets a little chilly. Steps to a beautiful beach, bluff top nature trails, explorable sea caves, and so much more. Betha goes the extra mile for her guests, making sure happiness and relaxation is all you feel. Awesome places to eat in town, fun shops, a beautiful harbor. So convenient! We were even greeted by an apple pie and an Easter basket for the kids when we arrived!

Dear Beth Thank you so much for your kind message! We are also very happy and proud of our family and God blessed us with beautiful children and health! It is so nice in your beautiful apartment, the beds are great, the kitchen is perfectly equipped and we love all the many nice details in every corner. Also, the shampoos are great, I love especially the Nexus Therapee...! We also love to take the beach seats with us! Yesterday we have been to the Universal studios, was a great day. We also saw the cathedral of our Lady and enjoyed it much. Today we passed a great day at Latina beach playing volleyball with some other guys, swimming and enjoying... Kind regards and hope to see you before we leave - otherwise at our next visit!! Your Austrian family!

We all got to eat together and I even gave my son home cooked meals. My younger son and bother in law went fishing and caught so many fish we had them for dinner one night. Loved the Beach! Dear Beth, We would like to thank you again for allowing us to stay at your Ivory Coast condo for two weeks in January. The unit was very nicely decorated and adequately equipped. You certainly thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable! Our family had a wonderful time in the Dana Point and surrounding areas. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the side patio and wonderful sunshine almost every day that we were there. HI Beth, We arrived home safe and sound and reality was just waiting to swamp me. I now have a moment to sit and send a very heartfelt thank you... We loved it! We loved Ivory Coast. We loved the beach. We loved the drizzle while we were at the beach. Kira loved the stuffed brown dog and it went everywhere with her in the house. I LOVED the cran bread and almonds! What a sweet gesture. The home was just perfect. How long has it taken to get it "just" right? I mean, it wasn't overdone, it wasn't underdone. Everything was so cute or in just the right place. Even the bedroom doorknobs were cool! And there was Nora Roberts at my bedside! I finished one whole book. We volunteered for MS society this past spring and earned free passes to Disneyland. What a blast! The weather wasn't a factor for us. I was so glad to be away. I have been battling breast cancer the past two years. One thing or another has kept us from going on a vacation. I finally got the doctor's "ok" and we had to leave before things changed. Thank you for shortening our search for a place to stay. Obviously we couldn't have found a nicer place and in our budget. (It's a shame money has to be a factor in our - since it's really for creating memories.) It was more than a getaway... it really lifted our spirits and lightened our hearts. What a great feeling!! Perfect Vacation

Thanks for your wonderful hospitality during our Dana Point vacation. As I have said before, this is the trip we have always dreamed of, and it lived up to every expectation. The Ivory Coast condo made me feel pampered, yet comfortable. The boys especially loved the blankets! Moments from the front door we were able to run on the beach, play in the surf, and look for shells. You made everything so easy for a perfect beach vacation. I would also recommend that other guests take the Whale and Dolphin Safari at Dana Point Harbor. It is amazing to see these creatures up close. Thanks again, we are already planning our eventual return! Amy

Betha has fully stocked the apartment which is fantastic, the Ralphs supermarket card, detergents, beach towels, shampoos lots of loo paper - all the things that make the difference to your stay. The pool was great and we all enjoyed it and the locals were very friendly. Betha checked on us a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed. Hi Beth, Just to let you know we arrived home safely on Sunday evening (UK time) after 24 hours on the road! Thank you for returning the deposit so promptly it actually arrived back in the UK before we did!! I'll happily do reviews for you, have already done one for homeaway but can't seem to get a link to flipkey...if you do discover how it works let me know and I'll try again! Just wanted to let you know that we have stayed in numerous holiday rentals in UK, Europe and the States over the past 20 years and this Condo is the best equipped we have EVER had. The internet access made planning trips so easy and also had the advantage of allowing Sophie and Ellie to stay in touch with friends back in the UK also having all the beach equipment provided; including towels was a major advantage for us long haul travellers! Just as important however were the little things; having bathrooms supplied with toiletries, shampoo, shower gels and soaps, the kitchen supplied with a full range of everyday cleaning products and all laundry products and having sufficient toilet tissue, kitchen paper and bin bags to last us for our two week stay made such a practical difference Best of all was finding a well stocked larder cupboard with all the basics including coffee, tea herbs and spices, this is so unusual but it is those little homely touches that make the difference. When we planned this holiday we thought it might be our last big family holiday before Sophie goes to university...however she enjoyed the family holiday so much, she has asked if she can keep coming on holiday with us whilst she is at University, so it looks like it might be some time before Martin and I have the big Californian road trip that we dream of, however we are already planning for it...fly to San Fransisco, visit Yosemite, Death Valley etc and then chill out on the coast hopefully at one of your Condo's for a week or so...keep an eye out for us in a few years we might be back! Wonderful Condo

We had a fabulous time here; the Condo was extremely well equipped and very clean and comfortable. The work on the pool (see earlier review) has been completed and the pool is open daily between 8am and 10pm, we managed quiet swims at the beginning and end of the day and despite it being the height of the season we also found there was ample room in the pool and sufficient loungers during the day. The Strand Development (again see earlier review) is still not quite finished but the landscaping is completed, the new steps to the beach are open, the funicular is in place and I would imagine all will be finished very soon it will be a fantastic asset once it is completed. We didn't particularly notice any building noise...certainly the predominant noise at 8am was the sound of the Pacific Ocean! We have stayed in numerous holiday rentals in UK, Europe and the States over the past 20 years and this Condo is the best equipped we have EVER had. The internet access made planning trips so easy and also had the advantage of allowing our two teenagers to stay in touch with friends back in the UK also having all the beach equipment provided; including towels was a major advantage for us long haul travellers! Just as important however were the little things; the bathrooms were fully supplied with toiletries, shampoo, shower gels and soaps, the kitchen was supplied with a full range of everyday cleaning products, all laundry products were supplied, there was sufficient toilet tissue, kitchen paper and bin bags to last us for our two week stay and to cap it all there was a well stocked larder cupboard with all the basics including herbs and spices. Betha made a point of visiting us during our stay to check everything was OK and couldn't be more willing to help with anything if required; our deposit was credited back to the UK before we arrived back home!! We used the Condo as a base to explore Socal, this being our first trip to CA we did the usual, a trip to San Diego and Zoo, trips to LA for Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Universal, but we also explored the local area, San Juan Capistrano has a very pretty historic mission as well as an attractive town centre and Temecula is worth a visit for reminders of the 'Wild West'. There are some fabulous beaches in the area, Crystal Cove is well worth a visit, we visited the local beach every day and even at weekends it was not over crowded. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and have already recommended it.

Hi Beth Thank you so much for an amazing week spent with our children in your beautiful condo. It really is so well appointed, exceptionally clean and so close to the most amazing beach. Every afternoon we loved walking down the steps to the sand and watching the kids having the time of their lives. I knew they were enjoying it when they complained that we were going to Disney instead of heading for your beach!! When they needed quiet time, the tv in each room and computer with internet kept them amused nicely. We loved the central location too - so nice to be near to everything but just far enough from the crowds of Laguna Beach. I can't thank you enough for being so friendly and welcoming and going out of your way to make our stay perfect. You're a wonderful host and beautiful person. We'll recommend your condo where-ever possible and we will absolutely be back! Sheye & family. xx

No pool and not

We were surprised that the steps across the street were not open and that the closest steps to the beach are about a half mile from the condo. We could have easily overlooked this had we not then found out that the pool which is so heavily advertised throughout the ads for Niguel Beach Terrace condos was also closed (pool was still drained as of 3/28/2009). We have two children and a swimming pool is one of the main components we look for when deciding where to stay. The owner had our phone number and email address and yet never once told us the pool was closed. When we called her (while at the condo), she told us we could go to a local YMCA and pay to swim or drive 10 min to their unheated pool at their personal condo. Another family w/a different owner had the same problem...other owners are not disclosing the lack of a swimming pool. Since the review guidelines forbid mentioning the actual rates paid, I can only say that we paid what most people would consider an expensive rate and didn't have what many families w/children would consider a most important (and advertised) amenity. Also--travelers should be aware that construction work begins before 8am and is directly across the street (for people who like to sleep in when on vacation). Very cute decor/beautiful and comfortable bedding, but owners should be forthcoming about lack of pool before guests arrive/pay.

Owner response: Stacey & Will: In our HOA March newsletter, all the owners in our condo complex were told that our new pool, that had been under construction, would be ready March 1st, 2009. Unfortunately, that was not ture. When you arrived March 21st the pool was still under construction. As we both know, construction projects are not always on target as planned. That has been our expernce. I knew you wanted a heated pool so I suggested The South Coast YMCA Pool because it was the only pool that I knew that was heated and close to the condos. The signature of Dana Point is the "Dana Point Headlands" that is just across the street. It was just voted "The Greatest Natural Wonder in Orange County". It includes, a million dollar funicular shipped from Switzerland (similar to a Ski Lift). This will be the only one that will be in Orange County that will take everyone that want to ride down to the beach and back up. It has a basket that has room for eight passengers.. We feel pretty lucky to have access to this special treat. This wonderful project will also have: Four Miles of Trails all along the ocean, Look out Points, Picnic Tables, A Veterans Park, plus Four New Public Beach Access Paths, three of which will be just across the steet that will take everyone quickly to "The Stand Beach" or "Salt Creek Beach", two of the most beauitful sandy beaches in Southern Californa. Again, Stacey the Headlands was in the process of installing that Funicular across the street when you were here, if they awoke you I am sorry. They were also buiilding new steps to the beach across the street when you were here.. . Yes, that Switchback Trail was too long I agree.. I hope someday you can return and enjoy these new amentias, and be our guests again. Beth

Condo with so much charme

Wonderful Condo. The rooms are very clean with all amenities what you need (towels, soap, shampoo and, and, and). Fantastic extras like internet, stuff for the beach (chairs, surfboards, toys for the kids etc.). There is an extra shopping-card to get less at the supermarket. So many little things, wonderful. The owner are very friendly, thank you.

We had a blast!! I can honestly say it has spoiled us for the east coast! Your condo was the nicest place we have ever stayed! I keep telling everyone about your place and Im giving out the info if they ever want to stay in the area,this is the place! Again I can not say enough ...........I have never stayed somewear with this much attention to detail and such wonderfull owners! You guys are amazing!.................My son did not drive all the way home he is flying in monday and Im glad he changed his mind. (too far for me to worry) . The Boys could not believe how nice the place was, they loved having the kitchen there and the comfortable beds. (by the way, who makes the bed in the main bedroom)??? Betha, Where the heck did that three weeks go? Twenty days sounded like such a long time before we got here. Just want to say thanks again for helping make our stay so memorable. Bad news first. Since we've been here, we've broken two glasses - a tumbler and a wine glass - which we've left by the sink so you know which ones we mean. And I don't know if you knew or not, but the front panel on the dishwasher is loose. On the plus side, we've left a couple of beach bats (Abby loved them!) and some information from one of our guide books which we think might be of interest to your future guests. We've washed the beach towels and all bedding that has been used we'll put on to wash before we go. Thanks to Julie's love affair with your washing machines, we're acutally going home with suitcases packed with clean clothes. That's a first! Abby slept really well (just like us) from the moment we got here. Not even the roadworks outside in the morning could disturb her! Having Dora the Explorer in the room to start off with might have had something to do with that, and the comfort of the beds was undoubtedly the other factor. Hope you don't mind that we're taking the musical dog with us. Abby and the mutt are inseparable at the moment, and if I hear "heads, shoulders knees and toes" one more time I think I'll go crazy (must remember to flick the 'off' switch before we get on the plane). Your generosity was much appreciated (great cake too!). Sorry we couldn't manage to meet up before we left, hopefully we'll get the chance to put that right if we can work out a way to come back to your lovely home once again. Abby starts "big school" as she calls it next September, so we'd better start researching the weather in July/August. Just how hot does it get? Try as I might, I couldn't get through all the beer before we left, so I hope either you or Bill like the odd cold one. We'll certianly be raising a glass to you and Bill on the plane home. One last thing. Thanks very much for the introduction to Gerri. That added a whole new dimension to our stay here. Having a couple of nights when we could go out and relax just the two of us was priceless. (And Abby loved her stories, too!) Anyway, must go now and try to somehow get all the new stuff into cases that already seemed full on the way out here! The Brig for breakfast, and then off to the airport. How civilised! Thanks again for everything, Alan, Julie and Abby.

Hi, We are now safely returned from San Francisco - luckily with no flight delays. The refund of deposit to my credit card has been safely received. Thank you so much for the use of your condo - it was so well equipped, comfortable and what a fantastic location, just across the road from that wonderful beach. Dana Point is such a pretty place - we all loved every minute of our stay and hope to return in the future. We are not missing any men's shoes - my sister thinks there was a pair of shoes in the cupboard in the master bedroom when we arrived. Once again, thanks for contributing to our wonderful holiday. Thanks so much for the great condo unit at Dana Point and for connecting me with Jennifer's for rental of her condo as well. Our family enjoyed the beautiful Dana Point area. When we arrived at home we discovered that the Ralph's card ended up in my husband's pocket. Would you like me to mail it back to you and if so, to which address? Hi Thanks for returning the deposit so promptly. We really enjoyed our stay, a winderful relaxing start to our month in SoCal. We even enjoyed the 8 hour trip up US 101 - well for the most part, especially after we cleared LA. The outisde temperature reached 109 degrees for part of the journey! Our location here in Santa Cruz is perfect too, with 2 patios, including a rooftop one, overlooking the beach. The house is upside down, with all of the living accomodation on the first floor to make the most of the views. Bit foggier here in the a.m. but it clears by 10 and has been lovely and sunny - or "plentiful sunshine" as the weather channel says - I'm never sure what the difference is over here between plentiful, abundant or brilliant sunshine - and they say us Brits are obsessed by the weather. I'lm pleased in one way the maids noticed the place was well cared for, but feel sorry for what they must have to put up with sometimes. For me, it's just a common courtesy. I supposed others take the view that they're paying, so can make as much mess as they like. Don't worry about the charge, I knew about it upfront. Your place was spotless so they really do a great job - there are some places we've rented that have been cleaner when we moved out than when we moved in LOL! I do hope to come back to Callifornia but it might not be for a while. We're going to Cuba at Christmas, then Dubai for Easter, probably a week on the Cote d'Azur in August and then Mexico for Christmas 2007. IBest wishes Pat

Hello We realy enjoyed our visit to Dana Point. It lived up to all our expectations. The condo was really nice and convenient to evrywhere to wanted to go. The steps to the ocean were -well you know. it tested out the old ticker. My girlfriend asked that I write you in hopes that the pair of beaded sandals, that she left under the beds throw pillows may have been found upon cleaning of the condo. if so, would it be possible to have them mailed to me at my home address. they will possibly fit in a large envelope. we wouldn't trouble you but they were brand new and if you shop in laguna you know that means expensive. you may send them regular mail to: Thank You in Advance for your help. Don't worry about walking in - we were worried that we were late out hence why I phoned your husband to say we were leaving and was it ok to leave the tumble drier on - we had met up with friends at 7am down in Dana Harbour before we left. Hi Traci, We had a wonderful carefree week with great weather too. Thank you for the delicious cheese cake birthday treat. We enjoyed that all too much! We shopped and walked the beaches to our hearts content. It was indeed a great location. I might mention that we could not get the iron to work though. It was missing a dial for the heat selection. Other than that it was the most gorgeous, comfortable and quiet place we could have ever chosen. Thanks a million. Traci, We are now back in the UK after a smooth but long and tiring flight back. The children have gone back to school this morning so I thought I would take a moment whilst it is quiet to say a big thank you from us all. Despite the rain we had a really relaxing and refreshing holiday. The Condos were both first class, well equipped (making them a home from home) and provided us with an ideal base from which we could explore the region whilst being only a short stroll to the beach. The hot tub and valentine balloon were particular hits with the kids and we will definitely be in touch again soon to book our return visit when the weather is warmer and hopefully we can stay a little longer. I've attached a few photos which I think say more than words can how much we enjoyed our stay. In fact we enjoyed ourselves so much that we met up with Darrel LaCroix of ReMax Estate Services to explore the possibility of investing in the area. I understand that you have dealt with Darrel before and wondered what your experience in dealing with him was and whether you would recommend him? In the meanwhile I do hope that your husband makes a speedy recovery. I understand how worrying these things can be, but I am sure he is in very good hands. Kind regards Andrew and Angela

One of the advantages of being English is not noticing the rain. Starting out at 7.15 this morning, I walked the beach, climbed a dirt path up the cliff, crawled under a razorwire fence, crossed a moor and 2 hours later made it back "home" in time to wake up Alexander for our first day of golf. Knowing virtue when they see it, the golfing Gods decided to let us play in two slots of dry weather , nine holes out and nine back, such that we actually had sunshine at the end of the round. After a nice warm bath we're off to dinner. All is well and all the better for the comfort of your lovely apartment. Many, many thanks. Peace and light, Peter

Betha, what can we say? Words cannot paint the picture of how great your condo is. We just completed our week stay in Dana Point and was overwhelmed at all of the ammenties you have so thoughtfully placed in the home. The Ivory Coast is the cleanest place we have ever stayed in! Our hats off to the cleaning crew! If someone thinks the price is too high, it is not. Just think of all you get. Again, thanks for a GREAT week. What a great place to escape the hurricanes. The condo was wonderful---loved the interior decorating--what fantastic taste you have. You have thought of every amenity for your guests and every possible question we might have had. Our Thanksgiving dinner was a huge success--eight of us at your splendid table! We were able to walk on the beach every day and our son even went for a brief swim in the surf on Turkey Day.
