The view from the large, covered back porch is mountains and hills as far as the eye can see. The cabin is nicely equipped for 6 persons to stay very comfortably. There is floor space for 4 more with 2 additional airbeds. The cabin has a covered front porch with a swing and a huge back deck overlooking the gorgeous view with lots of patio furniture and a grill for your enjoyment. Half of the back deck is covered.

There are 2 bedrooms. The one downstairs has a double bed and the other is a huge lofted area with a queen and 2 twin beds in it, as well as lots of additional floor space in the lofted bedroom area for sleeping space. Downstairs in the large vaulted ceiling great room there is a sofa and love seat as well as other comfy seating.

There is a table for eating on the back deck. There are 2 kitchen tables inside - one in the dining area between kitchen and great room and one in the great room for seating a total of 10-12 persons for a meal indoors. CD player, TV and DVD player, washer and dryer make this very comfy and accommodating.

Nearby in front of the cabin is a 4 plank oak with gates near the cabin and also directly off the road. There is accessibility off the road and also via a gravel driveway that comes right up to the side of the cabin. This is a wonderful place to come and be right in the face of thousands of acres of some of nature's finest playground.

The South Fork Branch of the Cumberland River is about 1.25 mile hike away boasting white water seasonally. Cabin is about 1/2 mile before Big South Fork Park Entrance on Hwy 742 (aka, Mine 18 Road) Historic Blue Heron Mining Camp Park boundary is 1 mile away and Blue Heron Campground is close by. This cabin is well loved and we enjoy sharing it with people.

    • We loved our time here! My husband and I wanted to meet some dear friends of ours who had moved south, so I hunted down this little cabin as a bit of a half way point. It was fabulous. The location is astounding, everything is quaint and clean. We enjoyed our stay so much we're going to book again for this fall! This little cabin was worth every penny! Thanks for the great stay!

    • My family and I spent two nights in this Great cabin in the woods it was better then the Smokies. The cabin was everything we were looking for. Perfect for a nature loving family. We all loved it. From my Five year-old who didn't want to leave to my Dad who loved the history of the area. It reminded my husband of his first trip to the Smokies, with his Grandfather, before all of the Condos got built.

    • Let me start by saying, the pictures and description do not do this cabin justice. It is beyond beautiful. The surroundings are breathtaking. There are trees and plants covering every inch of the property, and the beauty of the mountains is beyond description. The cabin in rather large and it is definitely rustic. The rooms are spacious enough for a family gathering. The walls are covered with wooden planks that are gorgeous. It is decorated with area treasures. My favorite being small pieces of coal scattered throughout. The local area is charming. We were lucky enough to visit during Homecoming week. The small town was booming with activity. Music, fair, fireworks……. We had a great time! Thanks for sharing your cabin with my family. We will return in the future.

    • If you're looking for an authentic, rustic cabin in a secluded setting, give this one a close look. There is nothing fancy here but it's clean, comfortable, and very private. The queen bed in the loft is great! Owners are conscientious and communicative. We used the cabin for a few days in June as a base to explore the surrounding area and neighboring states, and to spend some quiet time together. The whole experience was enjoyable and memorable. We highly recommend it! Larry & Kathy

The owners use ATT cell phones, (formerly Cingular) and our cell phones work well at the cabin.

    • If you're looking for a quiet get away-this cabin is the place to be. The scenery is spectacular. Our family took our mountian bikes and biked to several scenic areas. The cabin has a great collection of resources/maps of the area "hot spots" to see. Several trails to overlooks and beautiful water falls in the area. The cabin itself is cozy with all the accomadations you need. Cell phone svc. was scarce-which made for a relaxing week. We would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone.

    • My two adult sons and I went to this cabin in March of 2008 for a 4 day trip. The cabin was very comfortable and roomy with plenty of books to read and games to play. We also took a day trip through this scenic area to explore and do some trail hiking and found some beautiful spots. A peaceful trip with the real plus of spending time together without the normal daily interruptions of TV and phone.

    • This lovely vacation home is everything promised and more! It's clean and tidy and is a perfect getaway given its location adjacent to the Daniel Boone National Forest. There are lots of interesting things to see and do in the area, and our hosts were very gracious in providing us with ample information concerning both day trips and fun adventures in the immediate vicinity. Highly Recommended!
