This cabin is a unique place. The setting is so that it backs up to two National Forest properties: The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and The Daniel Boone National Forest. The 1200 square foot cabin is the last property before entering Big South Fork.
The view from the large, covered back porch is mountains and hills as far as the eye can see. The cabin is nicely equipped for 8 persons to stay very comfortably. There is floor space for more with sleeping bags. The cabin has a covered front porch with a swing and a huge back deck overlooking the gorgeous view with lots of patio furniture and a grill for your enjoyment.
There are 2 bedrooms. The one downstairs has a double bed and the other is a huge lofted area with a queen and 2 twin beds in it, as well as lots of additional floor space in the lofted bedroom area for air beds or sleeping bags. Downstairs in the large vaulted ceiling great room there is a sofa and love seat as well as other comfy seating .
There is a table for eating on the back deck. There are 2 kitchen tables inside - one in the dining area between kitchen and great room and one in the great room for seating a total of 10-12 persons for a meal indoors. CD player, TV and DVD player, washer and dryer make this very comfy and accommodating.
Nearby in front of the cabin is a 4 plank oak with gates near the cabin and also directly off the road. There is accessibility off the road and also via a gravel driveway that comes right up to the side of the cabin. This is a wonderful place to come and be right in the face of thousands of acres of some of nature's finest playground.
The South Fork Branch of the Cumberland River is about 1.25 mile hike away boasting white water seasonally. Cabin is about 1/2 mile before Big South Fork Park Entrance on Hwy 742 (aka, Mine 18 Road) Historic Blue Heron Mining Camp and Blue Heron Campground are very close by. This cabin is well loved and we love to share it with people.
