Pelican Roost is a marvelous beach house. 2 floors of living space plus pool and 4 decks. The name comes from our top deck that gives you awe inspiring views of the ocean and the intracoastal waterway.
The front entry hall, 2 bedrooms and a bath, the laundry area and the garage are on the first floor. You may enter the pool area from this level, or from outside. A center stairway leads up to the huge well equipped open kitchen, living area with fold out sofa, gas fireplace and sliders out to the 1st of three levels of deck on the front. 1 more bedroom and a bath, and a den with twin fold outs are on the 2nd floor. The screened rear upper deck in the treetops is accessed from the bedroom or the den. It is huge, and you'll feel as though you are living in a tree house - a BIG tree house! Great Location, Great Accommodations !!!
Great Location, Great Accommodations !!!
We stayed three weeks at the Pelican Roost and loved everything about it. Our party ranged from the two of us (baby boomers) to eight (one an 8 week old). The Property is everything it is advertised to be, closed to the ocean, open views from the living room and dining area, great decks ocean side, a huge screened in deck (which eliminates any unwanted creatures), tvs everywhere you need one (five), great internet, a pool, and best of all...a super location. The kids can safely ride bikes and the adults can enjoy walks in any direction on the street(s) in the neighborhood or head to the beach, which is easily accessible by foot, or if you prefer, by car. When you need something... it's as easy as it can be. A Dollar store is less than a minute, local bar one minute (by car or foot), boat launch about two minutes, birding sanctuary 5 minutes, church 5 minutes, major food stores, post office, library, golf, nearly everything is less than 10 minutes... and famous St. Augustine, with great food and shops, about 15 minutes. Needless to say, we would enjoy adding the Roost to our vacation plans in the future.

Great Relaxing Getaway House
Great Relaxing Getaway House
We stayed here for Daytona 500 weekend - we had 6 adults, two kids and two labs. We had more than enough room and I could never describe how awesome the decks are - so peaceful, private and expansive with beautiful views. One of the other ladies and I laughed about how the kitchen was better stocked than our own! The house is open and airy - it was extremely clean. The master bedroom king-sized bed I slept in was incredibly comfortable. The neighborhood is relaxed and very close to the beach. There is a walking path to the beach a few hundred yards away, and a boardwalk to the beach only a 100 yards further down. The beach is very wide. With pets, the only disclaimer is that there is no yard, but we simply walked our dogs on the beach or in the neighborhood and simply cleaned up after them. The dogs, like us, enjoyed the decks and the beach beyond measure. Finally, the beach rental company (Cindy!!!!) went above and beyond by finding us a person who was willing to take our dogs out for a walk on race day for $25. Small price to pay so I didn't have to worry about their comfort while we were gone 12 hours. Overall - we would gladly come back to this house any time we are in the area!!

A few family members & I stayed at the Pelican Roost for my birthday over Labor Day weekend. The owner of the home was completely gracious & willing to give us a great deal at the last minute! The home was spectacular & only a few seconds walk to the beach. My daughter and her friend loved going to the top of the roof to look out over the water. The house was immaculate, clean, & unique in design. I would definitely stay again! Thank you for opening your home to my family! It made for great memories.

Owner response: Thank you, Erika. It was a pleasure to have you stay at Pelican Roost. Hope you are able to return soon to the beach, we look forward to your next visit!
Some friends and I did a girls' weekend at the Pelican Roost and loved it! We were impressed immediately upon entering at how clean and large the home was. The pictures really do not do the house justice. There was plenty of room for 7 girls (ages 25-30). We enjoyed sipping wine and talking on the deck. St Augustine is only 15 minutes away and a Publix is only 5 minutes away which was handy. The management company and owners were very helpful and flexible and patiently answered all our questions. It was a wonderful experience and my friends complimented me on finding such a great place to stay. I wish we could have stayed longer and would definitely recommend the Pelican to anyone who is looking for a nice home to stay for a beach getaway.

Owner response: So glad to hear you had a great weekend. Thank you for choosing Pelican Roost, come back soon!
I stayed here in Sept 09 with my dog and it was truly wonderful. Just to stay in this house is a vacation, let alone the beach ramp and boardwalk being a couple blocks away. I especially enjoyed the multiple decks. Plenty of outdoor space to relax or work on a laptop. I ate every meal on a different porch. In the front you get an ocean breeze. The back porch is shady in the heat of the day. The kitchen is complete. No lack of utensils. If you forgot it, they have it. With such beautiful surroundings I didn't mind cooking a meal or two. The pool at the bottom level was a much welcomed spot to cool off after spending hours in the sun on the beach. Plus, no need to drive on A1A to get to the beach. A pleasant walk through the neighborhood takes you to a boardwalk. If you have too much to carry, you can drive, the vehicle ramp is only minutes from the house, past the boardwalk. Washer/dryer are conventiently located on the main level. Despite being a Florida resident for over 35 years, it was still a lot of fun to drive into St Augustine to play tourist. It is only 15 minute drive. Needless to say, tons of great restaurants in the area and wonderful sights to see. I also was pleased that this rental was only two miles away from a Publix. Their property management team is excellent and easily available for questions. The home was spotless upon arrival, and I felt more than welcomed and comfortable from the moment I opened the door. I can't wait to go back. Mary G.

Owner response: Dear Mary, Thank you for your wonderful evaluation. It is nice to know that others feel the same about this house as we do. Thanks for staying with us and we look forward to your next visit! Liz
Pictures do no do this house justice. We stayed here last fall and would readily do so again. We have a family of 4 along with two dogs that we brought. Very roomy for us, dogs loved it. We could have invited friends, sleeps more. The long range views of the beach are breathtaking from the upper deck, even though this home is one street over from the ocean. The back deck is very large and was a favorite spot to eat dinner and relax. It is private and overlooks a jungle/garden of trees that is very soothing and peaceful. Home was convient to lots of shoping and resturants. House very clean and inviting, loved the two levels as kids stayed upstairs and parents down.. Great views with lots of decking, great house.. As a Florida native that has visited St. Augustine many times this is one of the best spots we have found. You will not be disappointed.
