$90 per night Sept until ski season. Gas fireplace, newly remodeled with southwest décor. Added new furniture, small appliances in kitchen, linens, and upgraded entertainment center.
FAMILY OWNED AND MANAGED. Family feel - the two new owners and family and friends occupy the unit several weeks a year. As a result, this home away from home does not have the sparse furnishings of some ski condos (most Silverado II units have the same floor plan, but each is separately finished and decorated). The owners live 90 minutes away near Denver and visit frequently to occupy this unit as a base for recreation at Winter Park Ski area, the nearby Nordic skiing centers (Devil's Thumb and Snow Mountain Ranch), and in the summer the nearby National Forests, as well as to maintain or upgrade aspects of this 2BR, 2Bath floor plan. Because the owners want to feel at home, you can benefit from their initiative and care.
BUSINESS-FRIENDLY. The unit has extra surge protected outlets for your laptop, wireless internet (provided and maintained by Silverado II), a printer-copier, and a small supply of printer paper and blank CD's.
RELAXING. Quiet (west) side of building (with LR balcony facing southwest to forest). Master bedroom has separate TV and VCR. Living room currently has larger TV and DVD/VDR player, which can be used there or in bedroom if desired. A small collection of quality CDs and DVDs are being added each season.
CONVENIENT. During ski seasion, there is a free shuttle to both shopping and ski area stops outside the front of Silverado II. The unit is within walking distance of downtown Winter Park. There is a ski shop inside the lobby of the building, as well as a recreational center with two hot tubs, pool, a separate room with exercise equipment, and a room of arcade games. Nearby is the front lounge with restaurant guides and flyers on other local activities. You will also find newspaper stands, an ice machine, and vending machines in the wings for candy, softdrinks, and juices. Convenient coin-operated laundry facilities are on the garage level at the base of one flight of stairs
NEW SILVERADO STEAKHOUSE GRILL (with bar) is now located inside the building, near the lobby. I was one of the first customers to order a generous burger and I heartily recommended this establishment, which also prepares pizza and steaks.
COVERED PARKING is on the lobby level and one floor down from our unit (use stairs or elevator). Each unit has a locked ski locker in the garage. Luggage carts can be taken from your car in the parking garage to our unit's front door and back.
BALCONIES are accessed outside each of the two bedrooms, and there is a larger one with outdoor (summer) chairs off the living room (south-facing to forest view). Each of the three balconies is accessed through large sliding doors, which let a lot of light into the unit, but which have full-length curtains for privacy.
MASTER BEDROOM. Locking door and separate bath. Separate cable TV and VCR player.
SECOND BEDROOM. Set up with 2 twin beds, but a 3rd (upper bunk) can be added with enough advance notice (for a small one-time fee).
NEW: New owners have provided new, brighter ceiling lighting in the kitchen and living room (fluorescent to conserve energy). Several small kitchen appliances have been upgraded, such as microwave and four-slice toaster, as well as flatware, table linens, and a new set of dishes with an outdoor theme. Wall decorations are new - quilt, southwest paintings with western themes (e.g., horses, Utah canyons, Indian pottery). Earth tones and southwest colors are extended from the artwork to the new selection of towels provided in each bathroom, with some extras stored in unit for your use (no need to call housekeeping) or for going to the pool and hot-tub. Color themes are even carried down to having orange and turquoise spatulas! Small furniture items have been added for your convenience: a chair in each bedroom, a walnut coffee table in the living room, and a small desk for writing or laptop use. Since the unit receives frequent use by the owners during the ski season both for their own use and to make sure its amenities are functioning well for out guests, let us know if there are other items you would like to see added.
SOUTHWEST DECOR: Pottery, baskets, artist reproductions (western horse paintings of horses by Kay Taylor Affleck), rugged fabric-covered couches and easy chair, all keyed to browns with accents of orange, turquoise, and dark red. Wrought iron table legs and floor and table lamps cap off the western feel.
NEXT RENOVATION PLANS: New kitchen and bath ceramic tile border (southwest patterns and colors, planned for completion in summer of 2008). New dishwasher (quiter)to be installed in September. After that - either before or after your stay, let the owners know what you most want to be added or changed.

CARING OWNERS. Wahl Mountain Recreation is a small family-owned and operated business, including help from our sons. We live relatively nearby (in the Denver area) and operate two units - this one and a larger (3BR/3Ba) townhouse in Meadowridge (see Vacation Rentals by Owner Listing #30697). As you can tell from this description, we are in the final stages of making a first round of upgrades to the unit, but we won't stop there. We strive to bring you quality lodging amid the outside outdoor recreation opportunities and outstanding vistas of Grand County Colorado.
