Our House in the Woods is in a private wooded setting, yet only 1 mile from the center of town and 1 mile from our B&B where guests at the House may use the private beach of the B&B and the chairs and umbrellas. This is a wonderful tidal beach with warm waters for swimming at high tide and plenty of shelling and walking at low tide. You can see pictures of the beach on our website, please see link below. The House has a large screened porch which we recently added, perfect for relaxing and eating meals.
You enter the House through a secluded brick patio with flower gardens on one side and an enclosed hot and cold outdoor shower on the other. Two bedrooms and a full bath are on the first floor, a master bedroom and half bath on the second floor. The house is perfect for 2 couples or a family with children over age 5.
Wellfleet is almost 90% within the Cape Cod National Seashore, so it has retained its "quaintness" by nor being overbuilt. There is much open land for walking and hiking and birding, great beaches for swimming, oceanside, bayside and freshwater ponds in between.
Wellfleet calls itself the art gallery town and there are about 30 galleries and several great restaurants. We are 12 miles from Provincetown with its busy nightlife and more galleries and restaurants, as well as whale watches and National Seashore activities. We also have a bird sanctuary in our town.

My husband and I stayed here in August 2007 and had a wonderful retreat. Location is peaceful, private and quiet while still being close to all of the great restaurants and fun galleries in town. House is well cared for and modern with classic wood ceilings. The screened sunporch is perfect for breakfasts and the patio area with small garden was great for a glass of wine every evening. We didn't even use the indoor shower (we loved the enclosed outdoor shower off the patio!). The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We used the private beach of the owners over at the bay and took a walk out to great island from there which I would highly recommend as well. Owners were helpful and pleasant. We will be back! What do we like most about the House in the Woods? Imagine this... Waking up in a peaceful Cape Cod cottage in the middle of a scrub pine forest above the Herring River watershed. Standing in a large private (hot) outdoor shower with an antique brick floor, sun or rain beating down from above, watching the birds and woodland creatures. Listening to sounds of the night by wine and candlelight from the spacious screened-in porch that goes the length of the house. Enjoying the amazing array of airy windows and skylights as well as the ceiling fans which cool off summer days and nights. Sitting by the cozy gas fireplace on the off-season evenings. Basking in the sun and frolicking in the water at the private bayside beach at Aunt Sukie's B&B. You decide...
