A friend and I spent 4 days here and had a blast. The owners were very accommodating and super nice. The location was perfect for us. The location was great being just a few minutes from town, with a beautiful view of the ocean from the back porch.I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice, quite place close to town.

The house was great, had everything we needed. Not a glamourous house, but the essentials for a simple stay. The view was amazing over the hills and to the beautiful beach. The area felt safe and people were friendly.

We recently stayed in Walter's ridgetop Rincon property for 8 days and had a wonderful experience there. It truly offers a unique and authentic Puerto Rican getaway without the usual touristy atmosphere. The view from the balcony of the rolling mountains outline by the ocean is fantastic. The sounds of the tropical birds and frogs at night also add to the tranquility and authenticity of this place. The neighbors (Wilfredo and Willy) were very kind, fun to talk to and ready to help. We spent most of our days at the Rincon beaches and surf spots which are world class and only about a 5-10 minute drive from the apartment. The town of Rincon has a laidback and friendly atmosphere and felt very safe even at night. Overall, Walter's Rincon property was exactly what we hoped it would be for an authentic Puerto Rican experience and would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks again Walter!

We came back in November from our vocation in PR it was our second time in there. We loved this country so much that going second time invited our friends from Europe to go with us. Our friends stayed in this place and they just got in love with it. We were visiting them every day, having coffee in the terrace in the morning or Pina Coladas at night and enjoying an AMAZING view. Place is very cozy, decorated with handmade decorations (really loved them).Place has everything you would need .It is very traditional Puerto Rican house, with friendly and ready to help neighbors. For the people who want to relax and experience real traditional Puerto Rican life this place is perfect. My friends loved it and would definitely come back and so do I. Thank you again Walter and Tomoko for sharing your house with us.

My wife and I recently stayed at this Rincon property that's both tucked away in a tiny safe community, and provides a spactacular view. We were provided with all the amenities that were needed, and were very comfortable. The beaches are close by, and so are the supermartkets and resturants. Especially enjoyed having breakfast out on the terrace, enjoying the view and the warm weather. Also the price was right. Looking forward to going back in a few months.

My wife and I and our dog eddie (a jack russell terrier) had the time of our lives at Walters home in Puerto Rico. The neighbors were great and we felt like we belonged there. Everyone we met said to us "Mi casa es su casa" meaning my home is your home..wish we could have stayed even longer We hit the beach and watched the surfers and the sunsets.I recommend this place thumbs up for anyone who wants a piece of the real PR not what the hotels are selling but much more for so much less. Thanks Walter for a bargain deal and we will see you next year.

I stayed end of May rented for 3 nights. Only stayed one night. This place is hard to find not close to anything . The pictures must be old do not reflect what it looks like in pictures It is in a residential area not quiet, kids skateboarding, and cars passing by loud music. Dog barked for like 4 hours straight. Not happy with this place not even a condo. It is a house. And only got my deposit back lost money for the rest of the nights. I don't know how anyone reviewed this place in a positive review.
Owner response:Most people love it, but obviously it's not for everyone. Those who are seeking authentic Puerto Rico with smiling children playing, helpful neighbors telling stories and giving suggestions on restaurants and beaches and spectacular views (from your private terrace) of both the sunrise and the sunset over the Caribbean - often return each year. We wish it pleased everyone, but most feel it's well described and a great bargain as well.

My husband and I stayed in Walter and Tomoko’s lovely home which is perched on top of a ridge overlooking the ocean and the island of Mona. The home is located just minutes from Rincon in a small (one block) friendly neighborhood. It was the perfect getaway after a day at the beach or exploring the north side of the island.

Everything everyone says about this great apartment is true-immerse yourself in local culture, have wonderful views (we literally spent hours each day and night enjoying it (we were in the top apt) and using binoculars to watch the livestock roaming the nearby hills - every cow has its own bird companion-evidently to keep it insect free). Town and beaches are minutes away, esp. when you learn some of the shortcuts in this beautiful, hilly verdant wonderland (the map neighbor Wilfredo gave us was a huge help as PR roads can be quite confusing, and signs are often missing). Don't try to find this at night without a GPS though. Neighbor Jessica drove down and rescued us after we took 412R (rural) instead of the regular 412 since the only sign we saw was for 412R... Also, bring drinking water-remember, this is the real PR, not the tourist experience at a luxury hotel. We spent a week there and it was a great base for exploring the wonders of western PR and we'd love to go back. Enjoy!

we stayed in the top apartment from Dec. 21 2008-January 19th 2009, (One Month). The neighbors were terrific. The views were excellent and we really felt part of a community and not some tourists just passing through. Aside from all the things to do in Rincon, it made an excellent base from which to discover other areas of the island in day trips. I have recommended it highly to all of my family and friends. I do not have one single complaint. In fact I wish that I was there right now!

My college Spanish-studying daughter and I spent 3 grand days at this property and found it perfect for our needs. The home is lovely and situated in a special section of Rincon. Out the back is a stunning cinemascope view of the ocean framed by similar hills where you are standing. Out the front of the house is an authentic Puerto Rican neighborhood with warm and lovely people that give you your space but will engage your heart by their smiles and offers to assist you should you need it. I travel quite a bit and often stay in hotels. Staying at this location immersed us into the beautiful culture of Rincon and afforded us extra funds to experience the town, the beaches, the rain forests. etc. more fully. I highly recommend staying here and longer than 3 days if you can.

We stayed 4 days at Walter's place and it suited us perfectly with plenty of room. All your basic needs are covered. We used it as our base for exploring and photographing the beautiful areas in and around Rincon. The people in the immediate area of the apartment are natives and very friendly. Security was never an issue. The view from the balcony is fantastic and sunrise is really special! We will return next year.

What a beautiful place! Spanning the length of a split-level home perched on the side of a mountain, the balcony offers a breathtaking view of the lush terrain beneath you which leads down to the sea. The lower apartment is spacious and bright, with the ultimate travel luxury - a private bath in the master suite. Rincon is small and interesting enough to spend an evening strolling along the town center. Friendly residents help visitors experience local flavor. Walter made my first vrbo experience pleasant and easy. Thanks for everything!

We spent our first trip to PR here, in the top apartment of the house, the last two weeks in July. It is a pleasant home with plenty of cross ventilation, ceiling fans, and spectacular views. You can experience the real Puerto Rico here, as it's in a small neighborhood, not surrounded by other tourists. We were sung to sleep by the coquis each night and greeted by the roosters, horses, cows, and goats as they awoke each morning. The first night, we realized how much of nature's beautiful music we normally miss by being continually surrounded by air conditioning. Because this apartment is on the top of a mountain, the temperatures in the evening were cool enough that a light cover was necessary, but warm enough that no heat is required. Many of the interior decorations were made by the owner, a professional artist, who used local plant life as his canvas. We fell in love with them. After the first couple of days, the neighborhood residents were greeting us with smiles, waves, and offers of fruit and vegetables from their gardens. We felt truly welcomed.

My wife and I stayed at this scenic mountain top apartment in Feb. of 08 It’s exactly 15 minutes to STEPS beach, and only about 8 minutes to a closer beach down the road. The Supermarket is down the road, and so are many restaurants. We enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony, enjoying the view and the sounds of the wildlife. There are lots of rooms in the apartment, even more than the two of us needed. We had a driveway for our car and all we needed to enjoy a week in Rincon. We have stayed at a few locations in Rincon over the years, but we will return to Walter’s Mountain top apartment the next time we return. Have fun!

I stayed in Walter's apartment in late March of 2008. I was traveling to Puerto Rico to go on a surf trip. He was very easy and nice to deal with, and the apartment was very spacious. No need to even use the air conditioners as it was always a comfortable temperature inside even during the hot afternoons. It's located on a dead end road in a local neighborhood, perched on the side of a valley. Great views, and you can see the ocean from the apartment!
