  My girlfriend and I visited CR in Jan '09. It was a perfect trip, teary-eyed on our return ride back to the airport. Of the MANY highlights of the vacation, HABITAT MAGICO, no doubt, was chief among them. Can't express how relieved we were to walk into the house for the first time after a LONG day of travel and see how luxurious and clean it was. Can't express, either, how nice it was to return there after daily adventures to an immaculate bathroom, jacuzzi, living room, roof deck w/ sunsets, and finally, a comfortable bed. This will read like it was written by the owner... trust it's just written by a guy who wishes he was still on vacation... Neighborhood was quiet (very important). Safe. Views were unbeatable. The owner was more than accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. So much so, to write this review is a moral obligation to her. The property manager, Gina, also was an over-the-top pleasure to deal with. If you stay at the house BOOK YOUR CAR RENTAL THROUGH HER and not at one of the overpriced agencies!!! All in all, if I return to Costa Rica and stay in Guanacoste, I wouldn't remotely dream of staying anywhere else but Magico. The way that people take pictures of their rental properties with such creative photographic manipulation, you drive around Costa Rica and say to yourself, "We could have been staying at that dingy shack for all we knew." NOT the case here. I have better pictures of the property, in fact, than you see on this site - and will probably forward them to the owner. It's hard to write so complimentary about it and feel like you're being honest, but it really is true. Renting a house on vacation could be a nightmare. This was the exact opposite.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing.

With the extensive renovation last year, my goal was to achieve an upscale & classy look, yet feel like - first and foremost - a "home away from home". After a day of exploring or a hot day at the beach, a dip in the jacuzzi may be just what the doctor ordered.... Considering both of you are such world travellers, I am truly humbled by your words.

  My husband and I went here on our honeymoon and couldn't have been more satisfied! The house is the mountainside of Playa del Coco giving you a perfect view of the ocean. The grounds are very well maintained and the jungle Jacuzzi provided a great place for my husband and I to cool off after our excursions. The location of the house was great. It 's near many of the tours offered, beaches, grocery stores and the city which is more build up. My husband and I enjoyed to convenience of having access to anything we needed but also not being in Liberia where is was a little hectic. Our neighbors were great and everyone was very pleasant and offered us help if we needed assistance finding our destination. My one recommendation would be be to rent a SUV or truck. Many of the roads are not paved which can make rides a bit bumpy. We did ok in our compact rental car but I think a different vehicle would have been better suited for the trip. My husband and I had a phenomenal time and will definitely rent from Leila again when we return.

  Our experience in enjoying Habitat Magico far exceeded our greatest expectations! The owners are delightful, communicating often to help us get rental car, entertainment, etc. details arranged. Trust them. Their service before, during and after our stay was stellar. We feel like we have new friends. But...exceeding even that pleasure was Habitat Magico itself! This exquisite villa is among a small cluster of very private, upscale villas, perched high on a hillside above the forest canopy of the nearby village. The villa offers so many phenomenal vistas of the countryside and the distant Pacific islands (via sparkling windows and outside lounging areas) that we hardly had time to enjoy them all in our short week. Its interior design and furnishings were unique, elegant and luxurious. The tiled bathrooms are gorgeous. The air conditioning was delightful, the ambiance perfect. We had planned day trips, but the luxury of strolling onto the upper deck area to lounge with morning beverages, while watching the multiple variety of birds landing in the nearby treetops and seeing the boats moving in the distant harbor, acted as a magnet to make us linger. A short trip to the village beach for an hour walk and a dip in the Pacific became our second step. The perfect weather in Playas del Coco made that a daily occurrence. (Are you beginning to see how the magic of Magico lulled us into enjoying paradise?) After returning to the villa each morning, there was a shower and a dip into the very private jungle jacuzzi adjacent to the outside dining area before time for a book and a nap. The afternoon was still free for trips to neighboring villages and beaches, returning in time for the many fun happy hour opportunities in our village. Dinner was sometimes out (trendy upscale to comfortable friendly pizza), but more often it was fun to barbecue at our "home," enjoying wine in the candlelight of our outdoor dining room, admiring the beautiful villa architecture and its tiled patios, often finishing with a candlelit dip in the jacuzzi with its romantic watery light. There was also a great supply of books, games and travel information and a lovely flat-screen TV. When friends joined us for cocktails in the vista-filled living room and a steak dinner by the jacuzzi, they didn't want to leave. Neither did we. We have already booked for a month in 2014! P.S. Get a car with new tires/4WD for the driveway adventure! It gets easier after the 1st time.

  My husband, and another couple arrive at the Habitat Magico after a not so good flight to Costa Rica. We were so happy to have finally arrived in Costa Rica and even happier when we walked into the Habitat Magico. The house was so clean, well decorated and comfortable. We felt right at home. Waking up in the morning and sitting outside on the deck listening to all the birds chirping made my day. I loved it! It was so peaceful and relaxing. The location of the villa was wonderful. We were not far from shopping center, grocery stores, beaches and restaurants. I also want to thank Leila, the owner, and Nuria, the caretaker, for going out of their way to help us with any questions we had in regards to Costa Rica. I would recommend Leila's home to anyone visiting Costa Rica. Once again, Leila, thank you for sharing your home with us.

  Habitat Majico was so awesome. The house was so beautiful! It had everything you could ask for and more! It looks great in the pictures , but they do it no justice. Right from the start, the vaction was great. Leila, the owner is just so friendly and helpful, it made our planning very easy. She sends you information on everything you could want to know about, including a great car rental company. When you arrive, you get to meet Nuria, the housekeeper. Without knowing us at all, she met us all with warm hugs and kisses on the cheek. What a way to be welcomed! She was the cutest lady ever, and so helpful as well. Roger is the groundskeeper, and he was always friendly and willing to chat. If you are dog lovers like us, then you will love it here. Roger was looking after a 5 month old black lab puppy named Regina that came to hang out with us every day. We absolutely adored her! She made us feel less lonely without our dogs with us. She is going to be the complex dog, so hopefully you get to meet her. The location was great, Playa del Coco is a great little town, the beaches all over are fantastic, and the views are breathtaking. It is well worth the trip, we can't wait to stay at Leila's house again some day! Lisa and Rich

  Staying at Habitat Magico warrants a repeat visit. We can only agree with previous reviews. Habitat Magico is welcoming, clean; stunning views (even from the master ensuite), thoughtful and up-to-date conveniences (a washer/ drier, flat screen TV, touring information), private outdoor sitting areas with 'jungle' sauna, wonderful beds; 2 bathrooms and contact people nearby in case of problems. We had a wonderful 1-week stay and would not hesitate to come back - for 2 weeks minimum. Thank you Leila for all your tips, information and followup. We will be back.

  I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you again for making your home in CR available to Lucinda and me. We have brought home so many wonderful memories of our trip to CR with Habitat Magico prominent among them. We really enjoyed staying at Magico. Reentry from vacation is oftentimes difficult but we are finding it even more so after visiting CR. We fell in love with the beauty of the country and the friendly and happy people we found there. We will return there to see and learn more about the country. Our retirement is in the not too distant future and already we feel strongly that there is much more of CR ahead of us.   Wow! Thank you so much for letting us stay at your house. It was perfect! What a wonderful view! We loved every minute of it... It really helped to make our stay in Costa Rica memorable. We arrived wanting to have a relaxing vacation but wanted to have options of things to do without really having to have a tight schedule. Your suggestion book was perfect for meeting our needs. There are definitely enough ideas in that book to keep someone busy for a very long time! We sat down our first day there and looked through it and saw so many fun things to do. We did the Palo Verde boat tour and had a wonderful tour guide, Jaime. He lives in some of the houses just below your place. We took his contact info and put it in the book. His English is really good and he knows and does EVERYTHING. He has worked for many tour agencies and is very skilled for those a little on the adventurous side. He loves to talk and answer questions. He has tons of contacts and will get great deals for his clients. He gets paid off of tips. He was a great guide on the boat tour by getting us to feed white faced monkeys out of our hands and getting crocodiles really close to the boat and feeding them pieces of chicken stuck to a long stick. We liked him so much that we then used him the next day and he took us to Tamarindo where we learned how to surf for way cheap and then to Conchal where we went snorkeling (it had been raining so the water was still a little murky-non rainy season this would be a fun place to snorkel), and then to Flamingo - it was a long but fun day. Your suggestion for Borinquen canopy tours was a big highlight of our trip. That place is really pretty and the zip lines were amazing! We loved riding the horses up to the zip line and the drive there is gorgeous. The lunch they provided was also very delicious. We also used your suggestion for renting a car through Adobe. That went smoothly and the car worked great. The check in/out process went smoothly. Mari met us at the Subway and showed us the house. The house was extremely clean and ready for us. Your suggestions made our trip very easy to plan and extremely enjoyable. We loved our stay with you and have recommended your place to family and friends. If we are able to make it back to Costa Rica we will definitely be returning to Habitat Magico! Thanks again!

  The owner of this property was great. She guided us through every detail of her property, suggested things we might want to do and also provided a huge book of things to do and recommendations from herself and others, including adventure seekers activites, tours, food options, shopping, her "personal favorites" etc. She was such a positive influence on our experience in Costa Rica. It was truly a wonderful experience. Every detail of hospitality was provided---we had everything we needed---she even provided coolers for us to take to the beach! and towels! Would I return? absolutely. Would I recommend it to someone else? absolutely
