And our neighbors have turned out to the the best part of the whole living experience, and help us manage the property and will help you with local details! Daily maid service can be arranged and don't forget to ask about the fresh fish and lobster you can have brought to your door! Ask Arturo!

La Casita, as we affectionately call this little bit of paradise, is decked out with everything you will need for your holiday stay. Just roll in and you are set from the soft sheets and comfy beds, to the fully equipped kitchen, to the beach towels and chairs. Please let us know if you have any special requests or needs and we will do everything we can to add to your visit!

La Casita is part of a larger property and consists of an entry patio, full kitchen with breakfast bar, dining area, living room with TV and futon that can by turned in a bed, study area with books, desk and storage, bathroom with glass block shower and upstairs bedroom with huge windows overlooking our garden, the shimmering lights of Centro, a glimpse of Olas Altas and huge adjacent covered balcony complete with BBQ and flowers.

La Casita is not appropriate for small children as we have a high balcony, or if stairs are an issue as we are perched on a hill side. Also know that this is “Real Mexico” and that is why we love it so much! Pets will be considered on a case by case basis.

Why the Owner Chose Mazatlan

I love Mazatlan because you can drive from Tucson with the kids and pets and bring down all the comfy stuff you would enjoy at your own home. I love a beautiful environment and want to be very comfortable when I am on vacation. I love the neighborhood that I bought my house in because it is up the hill out of the noise and dust but a quick walk to everything I like to do, surf, swim, eat, shop, historic architecture, the Opera House, Plazuela Machado, the Isla, all super things to do and see! I have always been so welcomed and enjoy the friendly people i Mazatlan, that is why I bought this property!

The Unique Benefits at this Villa

You are so close to everything but you are not down in the city which can be too hectic for me. I love to take the ferry to Isla de la Piedra, only minutes from my house, I love the old architecture and history that is all around us where my house is. You can look right down on the beautiful Cathedral that is lit up at night, gorgeous city views and we can check the surf at Olas Altas too without having to walk to the beach, two blocks, before we know to bring the boards and towels! Excellent restaurants near-by too. And do not miss the central market, one of the best in Mexico. The Casita has huge windows looking out over the city and Olas Altas and has its own private garden entry. Large outdoor spaces and comfy indoors with large upstairs bedroom, patio and even a thrid story palapa for the native look and feel! Arturo my caretaker is very sweet and can help with whatever you might need. Please tip him for his generosity, he will rarely ask but could use it!

Owner's Map of Mazatlan

Hola! I've been traveling to Mazatlan for 30 years for the surf, friendly local culture, food and fun! I am an associate real estate broker in Tucson, President of Solar Gain, Inc. and the Southern Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce. I am very active in the community and when I travel to Mazatlan I usually take the bus or drive. I love to come into Mexico by car so I can see the countryside and see how the people are faring along the route.

Not all what it was cracked up to be

We rented this for our honeymoon. We had gotten out of the van at the house my parents rented a few blocks away. We got a pulmonia driver to take us and our bags to the casita. He refused to go up as the hill was real steep. When we finally go in, the remote control was MIA so we had no air conditioner. The kitchen had several cockroach bodies laying on the counter. To get to the roof is a ladder which is questionable for strength. Our final straw was the Doc spiders that had made their home in the bedroom. We stayed only one night, as I spent the night in tears. Just not the place for us.

Owner response:I hope to have a number of our past visitors write reviews of their lovely and special stays at my beautiful Mazatlan historical property. This is an old house, absolutely! But we believe it is a fabulous property to try something different, live in an authentic, historical neighborhood, where the neighbors share their fish and lobster, and the guava tree is taking over the courtyard. The story from these visitors has changed considerably from the time when they first called me from the casita to the story now. The issue at the time was the stairs and being on a hill, and it was too hard for them to walk up the hill. I can understand this issue. I do, however, promenently say on my website that there are stairs and a hill, and make sure that every visitor understands the layout. I was then threatened that if I did not refund their money they would write a bad review. When my caretaker of many years explained to me that the house was in perfect shape it became clear that there was story going on. I do not react well to threats and stories. Please feel free to contact me and I will gladly give you references of many people who have stayed happily at my home.
