We always longed for a place in the mountain. We bought this house and used it as a weekend retreat from Atlanta. A few years ago we built our dream home just up the road from this one and are now full time residents in this wonderful place.
We hope you will be able to visit and share the beautiful weather and scenery with us.
David and Nancy

Our son & daughter in-law surprised us with a weekend trip to this cabin in Highlands. It was nothing less than perfect. The cabin is beautiful and in a perfect place. Not too far from the shops in Highlands or Dillard but in a very peaceful location. The cabin had everything any one would need and more. Words alone can not express the view of the sunsets. Even being a pet friendly cabin you would never know there had been pets there. Very clean and comfortable. It was hard to turn the fireplace off this morning and head back to the real world. Can't wait until next time.

We studied the market hard and selected this mountain retreat as our vacation destination for two months. We stayed in this cottage for July and August 2011 and could not have been happier. The Highland Gap community is one of the best. All the neighbors have fine homes and everyone we met were very friendly. It's so peaceful and the views from the back deck are spectacular. The cottage was extremely comfortable. The furnishings were nice and the kitchen was first class. But the grilling on the covered deck was the most fun for us. We enjoyed our coffee every morning on the deck, we ate lunch on the deck, and ate most every night on the deck. I don't mean to take away from the inside because it is fine too. I can assure you that you will enjoy your stay here. It's a twenty minute drive to downtown Highlands. But do not let this discourage you. You can only do so much in town and when you get back home to Tater Hill you will get to enjoy the true feel of living in the Appalachian mountains. Once you get here all you hear are sounds of nature. No highway noise or anything offensive. You will love it! David and Nancy live right up the hill and will help you any way possible. It's so nice to have your landlord a short walk up the road instead of having them hundreds of miles away. The master bedroom is spacious with a wonderful view from your bed. The guest room upstairs is fine too with it's own full bath. The open floor plan downstairs is laid out just right. When you enter the front door you immediately see a magnificent view of the mountains. Our visit in Scaly Mountain was one of the finest vacations of our life. We highly recommend staying here. It's like a best kept secret, but hope more folks rent here and enjoy it as much as we did. Thanks for everything, we look forward to our next trip.

We loved the house! We took a long weekend there with a baby and a toddler and had a great time. Our 2.5-year-old loved the upstairs bedroom and the porch, especially. The owner gave us great suggestions for food, short trips, and walks near the house—including an invitation to wander up the hill to their house and enjoy the fantastic panorama view from their yard.

We had the opportunity to stay in this wonderful mountain retreat for the last 4 days, and had a wonderful escape! The owner, David, was very accomodating, and the house was even better in person than the pictures! The view was great, and the kitchen was a cook's dream with all upscale appliances. Even though the rain kept us indoors for more time than we had planned, the house was comfortable and clean....we would definately stay here again!

We stayed here for two weeks and this home greatly contributed to our wonderful vacation. It is spacious, very clean, extremely well appointed and just plain comfortable with its mountain-style furnishings. There were no negative surprises. Its close proximity to Highlands/Cashiers is a real plus. We will certainly stay here again on our next trip.

My family and I just returned from the mountain house on Tater Hill. It was the most peaceful and relaxing month I have spent away from home. The mountain view off the back deck at sunset is spectacular. We spent a lot of time out on the deck reading, listening to the nearby waterfall, and waiting to see the hummingbirds. We enjoyed the tasteful mountain decor throughout the house, and my daughters loved sleeping upstairs in their own loft. The beds up there were heavenly. It was a real pleasure to work in the luxury kitchen where the owners thought of everything you could need. Owners were great to work with, and responded immediately to address any issues. Great hiking right in the community, and easy 15 minute drive to Highlands. My husband enjoyed playing the nearby golf course at Sky Valley. Marvelous experience!

David & Nancy, just wanted to share with you how much we enjoyed our stay in your mountain retreat. Because you allow pets, our dog had the time of his life as we explored the surrounding area and the views were fabulous. Your home is perfect for the area and the master bed was comfy. We got some much needed R&R. We will be back because we want to enjoy the Mt. Laurels when they bloom.
