The Surf House is an 800 sq foot California beach bungalow across the street from Rio Del Mar State Beach. The house was built in the late 30's for the guests of the Rio Del Mar Country Club. There are 2 bedrooms, plus a sleeping alcove in the living room. Master bedroom has a queen bed. Front bedroom has two twins. There is a trudle bed in the livingroom alcove that also serves as a couch during the day. One bathroom with shower. Full Kitchen & linens provided. Many of the original features of the house remain. There is a large deck off of the living room with a bar-be-cue and picnic table.
Rio Del Mar Beach is steps from the house. The beach is kid and dog friendly with miles of sand for walking and playing. Seabirds are abundant. Down the Beach is the USS Palo Alto and Seacliff State Park. If you don't like to get sand between your toes the view from the living room and deck make this ideal for your beach vacation. Watch the beach activities from the comfort of your living room through the large picture window or from the comfort of your deck chair.
The Palo Alto cement ship and the bluffs of Capitola can be seen from the living room and deck. The Surf House is just steps away from the beach Esplanade where you can find the Full of Beans Coffee House for your morning coffee and pastries, Pixie Deli for your lunch sandwiches, and Cafe Rio for fine evening dining. The Surf House is 5 minutes away from "antiquing" in Soquel and Aptos. Shopping and dining in Capitola is only 10 minutes north. Visit the redwoods or the Santa Cruz boardwalk in 15 minutes. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is 40 min south and San Francisco is 90 minutes north.

Why the Owner Chose Rio del Mar
Renting a vacation house is the ideal business. People are friendly and come with the expectation of having a perfect vacation. We are pleased that we can meet or exceed those expectations. Renting a place close to the beach, and all of the beach activities, is usually hard to find, so the location of The Surf House and is a real plus. We've found that folks take good care of the house because we provide a clean, well stocked home with everything they need. Pets are part of the family and many people wouldn't dream of taking a vacation without them. We've also found that folks who have pets take extra care and really appreciate the opportunity to vacation with their pets.

We were very happy and comfortable at Surf House. We walked the beach at least twice and often three time daily. Our four legged companion had her first visit to the ocean and was shocked at the first taste of sea water. It was really great to return to Rio Del Mar and I miss being so far away from the ocean. I would recommend Gayle's Bakery & Deli in Capitola. It was as good as I remembered and we took our dinner back to Surf House on two days. You had well supplied and with everything we needed. Enjoyed our visit and hope to return in the future, Charlotte
