We stayed the week of July 16th. The hottest week of the summer! We were absolutely shocked to find out we had NO AIR CONDITIONING. It was miserable. The house was the one of the top 3 houses we have been in over the last 6-8 years as we do this regularly each year. The accommodations were great for the 4 couples as we each had our own bedroom and bath. Usually, we cook in 4-5 nights when we do our vacation and go out the other nights. We could not do that because of the oppressive heat in the house. So, we looked for restaurants with air and ate out most of our stay. Needless to say, it turned out to be more expensive for this years vacation. Also, we tried to cook out side but the overhang where the grill was held the smoke under it and we were forced to go inside or out from under the roof. Thank God for the lake. We spent at least 4-6 hours in it every day trying to keep cool. We would consider this house again but only if air conditioning was installed. It is a very clean house thanks to Debbie the caretaker! She certainly does a nice job. My review of the property reflects the air conditioning situation. It would be higher if the problem is taken care of. Our group agreed with 3 Families from Cincinnati that the beds should be replaced for more Adult type beds. Regarding the owner Doug, he was very easy to deal with when we made our reservation. Any future guest should have no problem with making any arrangementsRecommended for: Adventure seekers.

There were 6 adults and 6 kids during our stay. Plenty of room! The canoe, paddle boat and tube provided hrs of fun for all of us. Location is great as it is in "no wake" bay so we could swim and fish anytime we wanted. Lrg garage was perfect to store all of the bikes. Plenty of driveway space for the cars. Nice loft area with tons of books, binoculars and telescope. Balconies on each level, one with a hammock, very peaceful! Lrg gas bbq grill was handy but there were only empty tanks, however within 24 hrs of notifying the owner a full tank was brought to us. It was great to have a bathroom for nearly each bedroom. Downside to bedrooms was that all but the Queen mattress were EXTREMELY uncomfortable and could stand to be replaced. The King bed is really two mattress pushed together to make a King. Dishwasher didn't work very well so we hand washed everything. That could be a hard water issue, not sure. There is no air conditioning which was okay until temps hit 80 degrees. Last two nights were uncomfortable even with fans in each room. Could use addt'l chairs to take down to the firepit. Some must sees if you visit the area: Mekleys Fruit Farm, Antique Shops, The Buffalo Ranch, Clark Lake Golf, Port to Port Miniature Golf, Cherry Creek Winery, MIS. We also took the teenagers up to Michigan State University for a tour (about 45 min away). Overall experience was positive. The house being in the bay rather than right on the lake was PERFECT for the kids. Owner was easy to deal with and helpful as well as the caretaker, Debbie!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

Six of us from around the country met in Michigan for a hunting trip and found this house on-line. A large, very well kept house, with pleny of beds & baths, coupled with a large family room, kitchen and table for us to congregate and have a great time. The house, without question, exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The house is roomy, beautiful, and located on a "no wake" cove of the lake, which is ideal for swimming. The children could swim across the cove to the park. We truly enjoyed the canoe, peddle boat, and tubing. The LARGE upstairs room was great for nightly family talent shows, dance recitals, and comedy contests. We will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Excerpts of email from our guest Misty H. from Bloomfield, IN Hey Julie, Just wanted to say thanks again for a wonderful week for our family. It was just what we all needed and I think we are all still on our own little highs from a week together. We are slowly but surely getting back to reality here, but I didn't want to forget to write you again and thank you. Thanks so much, the week truly meant the world to us. Let me know if I need to finish anything up or if it's so long for now, or at least until next time!! Misty HDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Excerpts from email of our guest Astrid K. from Austria when asked "List 3 things you like and 3 that needed improvement". We all really, really enjoyed the stay in your house. It was perfect for us. 3 things we liked: - all rooms are really spacious and nice (especially the kitchen and the big room on the second floor) and there were lots of rooms for us so that we never had the feeling it is too crowded there (bathrooms, ...) - there was so much equipment (BBQ grill, paddle boat, garden, internet, .....) - the location of the house (the seaview was fantastic) we also liked the welcome basket and the description of the house. we liked all there. the whole house was clean. eveything was perfect for us. 3 things we didn't liked: there are no things we didn't likedDid you find this review helpful? This past January my friends and I decided to travel up to Michigan to do some ice fishing. We have never been to this part of Michigan before, but after some research, we found the private/stocked lake; Lake Columbia. There were 10 of us, so we needed a place big enough that we could all sleep comfortably. We found this house on the website, and decided this house would be perfect. We were all very impressed with this house. It had everything we needed and so much more! From the gas fireplace to extra-large luxury gas-grill to the breath-taking views from the multi-leveled deck, this house has so much character and made us feel right at home. After this trip, we have decided to make this an annual event at this house, and we are planning on coming back in the summer to take advantage of this luxurious lakefront property. I definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in vacationing in Michigan to try out this house, you will not be disappointed. Sincerely, Matt "Very Satisfied Customer" HillDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I was able to stay in this house in mid December 2007. First of all the house is beautiful with plenty of room. It was winter, the house was so warm and comfortable we didn’t feel the need to go outside. The wonderful fire place kept us nice and cozy and the jet bath tub was a big plus. We also used the outside decks for hot chocolate in the evening. The view of the lake covered in snow was amazing. Plus all the stores we could have needed were close by. I became engaged in this house so one of my favorite memories in life was made there. It would be great for a large family or a romantic getaway for twoDid you find this review helpful?
