White Water and Ranch Views at the Otter Cove House

Come to Cambria, stay at our home bordering the Fiscalini Ranch. You’ll have the unique experience of enjoying views across this natural undeveloped landscape. No telephone wires, no rooftops, just picture perfect views right down to Otter Cove and the ocean beyond. At dusk walk to the end of the front yard, sit back in the bench and watch surf crashing on the rocks as the sun sets into the blue pacific.
And if the weather turns bad, just move inside. Relax back and watch the wind and waves from the cozy living room while you sit in front of the remote controlled fireplace. Or maybe watch a little TV on the 50 inch plasma, or pick a movie from our personal film library. Or perhaps a game of chess, or good book, or play one of the many board games with your family. We’ve tried to make your stay fun and comfortable, somewhere you don’t want to leave.
But if privacy is what you want, then just move up to the Master Bedroom, crack a window, and lay back and listen to the surf. Or maybe light up your own fireplace, and watch TV on your own flat screen. Pop in your own movie of choice and call it a night! Hey, it don’t get no better than this.
Other goodies, such as decks attached to every bedroom, an inside outside room for reading, napping etc, and of course all the reg. Stuff, wireless internet, washer/dryer, microwave, CD player, and access to the two car garage with a auto opener.

Our family of three plus dog have rented this house every fall for three (four?) years running, and will again next year too. The house is very comfortable, and Bruce has made some great updates -- better seating in the living room, new appliances, big dining table, etc. It is situated perfectly -- peacefully quiet, lovely views, and great walks right outside the door. You can choose a smooth boardwalk on the ocean or solitary trails up the hill with killer ocean views. The Friday afternoon farmer's market is always good, and there's plenty to do in town. We especially like the first floor bedroom and bath for someone wanting more privacy, and the airy upstairs master bedroom. We've rented a dozen+ houses through vrbo, some fancier, but this is our absolute favorite!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with young children, pet owners.

We have been fortunate to be able to spend time at Otter Cove the past three summers. Grandma, grandpa, children and grandchildren... something for everyone; tidepooling, deer watching, kayaking, reading, nature walks/hikes, horseback riding, fishing, naps, boogie boards/surfing, walks along the beach, hunting for moonstones, naps, burgers at The Grill, girl shopping, singing and dancing to the Beach Boys, Linn's farm, naps, seafood at Giovanni's, watching the sunset... it's all good. The house comfortably accomodates our clan and has all the amenities we need. Owner Bruce is friendly, responsive, and accomodating. For us, it is the perfect getaway... a time to unplug, unwind, and make memories.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family just returned from the Otter Cove House, and we loved every minute of it! The pictures don't even do it justice, as the old adage "You have to be there" really applies to this place. Bruce is incredibly gracious and flexible. We're still talking about our time in Cambria. You really can't go wrong with this house, as the amenities and the location are superb!! A+++Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

Initially my wife and I came to Otter Cove to escape the heat of So. Calif., we also wanted to be near the ocean. What a wonderful surprise to find not only perfect weather and a close-up view of Otter Cove, but laid out before us acres of untouched California central coast beauty! With walking trails along the coast and hills, we enjoyed relaxing walks through nature. In the evenings we sat on the wonderful outdoor deck watching the waves and the sun set. The house is very cozy, clean and comfortable with all the amenities we could possibly need and excellent views from the living room and master bedroom. The town of Cambria is a fun town to walk and shop in with some surprisingly good restaurants. We will definitely recommend this lovely getaway to our family and friends.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers.

We loved this home just steps to the ocean. It wasn't a sandy beach but tide-pooling was great. There is a wonderful bluff trail on the adjacent preserve with an easy 2-mile loop. I could have easily stayed here for a couple of months. There was an extensive movie collection and many games & books. Lots of nice little touches. The owners make a real effort to make your stay wonderful. I would definitely love to return and would recommend this to couples or families. We took one day and drove down to Morro Bay and Pismo Beach for a picnic. We had been to Hearst Castle so the second day we went to the Hearst beach park and explored Cambria; did some wine tasting and had a nice dinner in town. All in all we had a fun, relaxing stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

CAMBRIA GUEST BOOKDec 2007What a lovely place. I enjoyed it so much spending part of my holiday at your beautiful beach house. Thanks a lot. Love from Denmark.May 2008We loved our stay at this Cambria house. Walking through the ranch and tide-pooling all right out the door-what could be better? The house is so comfortable and thanks for the fabulous film library. We’ll be back... The Bridges, UK.5/17/08Dear Richardsons: What a fabulous month we have spent in your perfect home-such a great place for us. The sun room was a perfect “studio” for my husband’s art work. The house was equipped with everything we could possibly need (thanks so much for the crockpot!) We definitely felt this was our “home away from home”. we spent a lot of time “restauranting” and tried to collect as many menus as possible. Hope you and your guests enjoy them. We will be back! Thank you so much— Murphy. 6/13-16/08Thank you Bruce and Lise for letting us use this wonderful place. This has got to be the best Father’s Day gift that we have every had. (Jerry). Thanks a lot... very, very nice.July 2008Dear Richardson Family: My two kids and I have been renting in Marine Terrace for the past 9 years-once or twice a year- and always the same home. This is our first “deviation from the norm”. Thank goodness we ventured! Lovely, warm, comfy home-nice TV’s, oh so important! Flawless wireless to say nothing of “location, location, location! (No, I am not in real estate!). Hopefully you will continue to rent out your home so that we can continue to be tenants, until my kids are out of college and I can permanently move up. Thanks so much again! K.C. August 2008Came to escape the LA August heat and to experience living in Cambria. Successful on all fronts! The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The weather was cool with morning mists-just what we wanted. The ocean walks absolutely perfect with views, pelicans and seal otters. Cambria village was a delight with good restaurants, shops and activities. Thank you for letting out your home. Anne & RobOctober 2008What an amazing week we had in your wonderful home. Ours was a list minute opportunity to travel up the coast, and your house was perfect. We missed 90 degree weather in Orange county, exchanged for the 70 degrees here in Cambria! What a blessing! It was our first family vacation with our 9-month olDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
