Mahana at Kaanapali, Spectacular 1 BR. Oceanfront Condominium
Year Purchased: 1991
Why the Owner Chose Mahana
We chose to buy in this location because it is right on the ocean, it is a very quiet property yet it is close to shopping, restaurants and activities. The grounds are meticulously kept, and the building has been beautifully updated.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We love the sunsets on the lanai and the fact that you can walk right out onto the beach at the front of the property. The BBQ areas are great, you can have a sunset dinner without going out.

We throughly enjoyed this property. We have stayed at the Mahana before, but on floor 2. This year on floor 10 was a whole new view. The view was spendid and I never tire of watching the ocean change. We watched whales from our lanai each day and saw a sea turle. The sunsets were incredible also. This condo is very well stocked with everything we needed to cook some of our own meals and we even entertained a little. This unit has not been renovated so still had a bathtub which I really appreciated. We would definitely return to this unit another time. While in Maui, I took the submarien ride from Lahinia which I enjoyed. We did lots of golfing on great courses and we went to the production of Ulena a very well done show. Enjoyed all of our 3 weeks.

Aloha! We stayed 9 nights in this condo and enjoyed every sunset on the lanai. This unit shows pride of ownership and provides a comfortable home away from home. We can't say enough about the location right on the beach with an awesome view of the ocean. We saw many sea turtles from the lanai. The BBQs next to the pool are terrific. We loved the proximity of the grocery store across the street "Times" as they have everything. No need to go anywhere else to shop for groceries. The stereo system works with an Ipod which was great. Our favorite beach was Napili Bay, about 10 minutes drive north of the condo. Having rented many VRBOs in the past, this condo ranks as one of the best we've ever stayed in. Free parking and no resort fee is a plus. We would highly recommend this condo and Sandy is a pleasure to work with. Mahalo!

We stayed at Mahana 1014 from 10/23 - 10/28/2011, and loved every minute of it. The unit is fully stocked for cooking (including olive oil, spices, etc.), and has the Mahana's absolutely fantastic glass wall view of the pacific and Lanai and Molokai. We wish we could have taken the decorator home with us - it is just gorgeous, with the thickest, lushest carpet I have experienced (I think it's been redone and appointed since the photos). The owner obviously takes great pride in his property, and the manager is wonderful to work with. Great location - 10 min. toward Lahaina is the amazing Kahekili Beach and Park, with some of the prettiest coral I've seen. 10 min. in opposite direction is the amazing Kapalua beach (right before the Ritz Carleton on coastal road) where we swam with the largest variety of beautiful tropical fish we've seen, and 3 giant sea turtles in two snorkeling outings (best snorkeling - contrary to guide books - is along rocks on left side of beach). It is an ideal property at an ideal location to experience the best Maui has to offer. Hope we can come back soon. -Peter and Jean, San Antonio, TX

My husband and I stayed at the condo for 6 nights in June/July and could not have asked for a more perfect home for our time on Maui. The views from the condo alone are enough to make us want to come back soon. When you first walk into the condo, all you see is floor to ceiling windows with the beautiful ocean right in front of you. Having a lanai right off the bedroom was amazing as well, since we were able to leave the door open at night and listen to the waves. Sitting on the lanai watching the sunset was one of our favorite things to do during our trip. We spent lots of time at the pool, which is right next to the beach. It was great to have the pool so close to the ocean, rather than tucked away behind the building, like at other condos we've stayed at. The location between the two buildings also allows for constant sunshine. We also got to enjoy the beach and ocean. There is some great snorkeling directly in front of the condo. We rented gear from Snorkel Bob's across the street and just walked out into the ocean and saw tons of fish. The beach is not crowded down by the Mahana (as opposed to by Whaler's Village) and Black Rock is a nice little walk down the beach. The location of the condo was perfect for us too. It was far enough away from the more crowded areas of Lahaina and Ka'anapali Beach but close enough to be there in a 10-minute drive. There is a grocery store right across from the condo (we saved a bit of money by eating most breakfasts/lunches at the condo) and tons of restaurants and shopping within 10 minutes. We can't wait to make it back to the Mahana (hopefully sooner rather than later!). Mahalo to Sandy for everything!

Thank you Sandy for providing us with a fantastic condo for our 8 days in Maui. The unit is awesome, and the property is great. Very quiet and well maintained. The view from the lanai is priceless. Being able to sleep with the door open and the sound of the ocean made our trip. Great beach, swimming and snorkeling is only a few yards down the beach. The location is central to all the activities, and the walk from the condo to Black Rock is a great way to start the day. Can not recommend this unit and owner more highly....

We spent 11 glorious days here and the only bad thing was that we couldn't spend an additional 11 days! Everything was clean, nice and comfortable, especially the bed, as we slept like babies listening to the surf every night. The kitchen was easy to use and fully equipped and of course, the washer and dryer was a great amenity. A few of the nights that we ate out we wished we had planned on eating at "home" so we could watch another awesome sunset. Duke's is a great place to eat and we found that Safeway by the Cannery Mall was the best place to shop for groceries. Also, a real gem is the Farmer's Market in the parking lot at Kmart close to the Kahului Airport. We purchased the tastiest produce we have had for many years. One of our favorite things to do was to have our morning coffee and breakfast on the lanai and watch everything and everyone embrace a new day and we couldn't get enough of whale watching. We can't wait to return to this great condo. Sandy, your home is beautiful and your art is fabulous. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

My wife and I spent 7 days in this condo the end of Feb 2011 to celebrate our 30th anniversary and it is everything posters before me have said, and maybe more. This was our 4th trip to Maui but always stayed in the hotels and resorts in Kannapali and Wailea. Never again. The first time you walk in the front door and open the curtains that reveal those floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room it almost takes your breath away the sight is so magnificent. Being high up on the 11th floor with those floor-to-ceiling windows in both the living room and bedroom provide excellent views from inside, and the lanai provides them even better by virtue of having no windows and you can hear the surf as well. The beach and surf line are so close that we also left the screen door open every night and could hear the surf pounding the beach like a lullaby. Thanks to Sandy, the check-in was a breeze and being so close to everything but far enough out of the crowded area of Kaanapali makes this the perfect spot for us. Condo is clean, furnished well and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. There is a huge new resort right next to the Mahana that doesn't appear on any map or guide that does add additional people on the beach but still not crowded. It is true that the beach directly in front is too rocky with coral and lava rock to be a swimming beach but just 50-75 yards down it's just a little bit rocky but you can still swim and have a great time in the water as we did. We had just a bit of trouble finding Lower Honoapillani Rd on the way in and kept driving past the West Maui airport, which I knew was too far. Turned around and drove back down and found it but just in case....on the way in turn left at the first traffic light after passing the Dollar and Budget rental car locations on the right. Duke's was a great place for dinner and real close. Good food and good service. All in all, we'll definitely be back. It's a wonderful condo in a wonderful location and would recommend to anyone. Thanks again Sandy!

This was our fourth trip to Maui and the first time we have stayed at a condo. We had the best time we have ever had on Maui. The condo was exactly as shown on the web site and so much more. We chose the tenth floor so we could whale watch and we were not disappointed. We really enjoyed being able to cook our own meals on the barbecues that were there. The sunsets we saw from our lanai were out of this world. The friends we taveled with (which had a condo on the first floor) came up almost every night to see the sunsets. We did most of our grocery shopping at the grocery store that is about 2 block away (in a shopping center at the end of the driveway). We checked around at other discount stores (cosco) and found it was not worth the trip to save so little. We were also able to get all the beverages :) we needed there to. We walked almost every day down to Whalers Village (which is about 2 miles towards Lahaina) for shopping, drinks & meals. We found the best place for Happy Hour was at Duke's (next door) where the mai tais were reasonable and delicious. We also chartered a fishing boat, named Reel Lucky. We went out for 6 hrs. and caught a couple of Mahi Mahi, a couple of other fish and a shark (which stole my fish that I caught). We kept one of the Mahi Mahi for a meal that night (it was fabulous). We plan on doing this again the next time we go to Maui. We also slept like a baby in the bed with king pillows. All in all it was great!!!!!

What can we say except that this place lived up to all of our expectations and then exceeded them! The Condo was amazing and the the views are incredible. The furnishings are very comfortable and the location of the Mahana is quiet and peaceful and this is our third trip back to Maui, Now we wont stay any place else. We know we don't have to look for any other home away from home when we travel here. Its just perfect for our lifestyle. The Mahana is peaceful and restful and yet everything is so close yet far away. The staff is very friendly and always ready to answer any question. BBQ is fun because so many people use the Mahana facilities. Sandy is wonderful to work with and very accommodating. The only thing is wish is we didn't have to leave. Again Thank You Sandy for opening up your home to us!!!!!

What can I say except that this place lived up to all of expectations and then exceeded them! This was my fourth time to Maui, and previous times I have stayed in Lahaina, but no more! This room is in the perfect location, close to grocery store, a great beach at your doorstep, and away from the major crowds in Kannapali and Lahaina (although in easy driving distance). The views from this condo are breath-taking, the pictures hardly do it justice, and the place has all of the necessities for a comfortable stay. I was also very pleased with Sandy's efforts to ensure the reservation process went smoothly. I will be back for sure!
