This charming stone built 18th Century Hunting Lodge sits on a private estate surrounded by oak forests in the heart of the Luberon National Park. The surrounding views are breathtaking and you can see for miles and miles over the Luberon valley. Further up the windy road and over the hills is the beautiful lavender country of Sault which boasts a patchwork of lavender colors and red poppies in the summer.
The peculiarity of this lovely Hunting Lodge is that it is oval shaped which gives unusual dimensions to the different rooms. The Lodge has been beautifully renovated with high quality materials and decorated with excellent taste. It is well equipped and you will find log fireplaces in both lounges. Entirely private and secluded with plenty of open space for outside meals and walks. If you come when the cherries are ripe you may pick as many as you wish from our cherry trees and the farm chickens will provide fresh eggs.
On the ground floor you will find two delightful bright cheerful lounges with comfortable sofa's and armchairs near the fireplaces, coffee tables, antique furniture and colorful tapestries on the walls. There is also a large dining area and fully equipped open plan kitchen with French doors opening onto the grounds. There is a separate WC on the ground floor off the entrance hall.
Up the lovely old tiled stairs to the first floor hallway where three spacious sunny bedrooms await you. The pretty blue master bedroom has a walk in wardrobe and bathroom en suite with bathtub, washbasin and WC. The charming pale green bedroom also has it's bathroom en suite with bathtub, marble washbasin, and WC. The spacious third bedroom with two single beds has an enormous sunny bathroom en suite with a superb old fashioned bathtub, bidet and WC. There is also a separate Shower room for the Lodge on the same floor.
Next to the Lodge is the spectacular sundrenched (heated) pool 15 x 7 m with it's private shady summer kitchen fully equipped with BBQ, fridge, and hotplates. There is plenty of fer forgé garden furniture, sun loungers and parasols. The pool and grounds are maintained by the live in caretaker. The tennis courts are also available for the livelier ones and we have plenty of tennis rackets.
Only 14kms from the famous perched village of Gordes and an hour's drive from Avignon this charming old Hunting Lodge has all the necessary ingredients to provide you with a holiday to remember. Five kms from the pretty medieval village of Murs where you can buy fresh bread and croissants, the local store sells most things and the family run café/restaurant are great friendly places to eat.
Far from the maddening crowd but near enough to all the interesting sites to visit. The delightful villages of Lacoste, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Isle sur la Sorgue, Lourmarin and Coustellet offer fantastic markets every day of the week. Aix en Provence and Avignon are just over an hour's drive away and Marseille is worth the detour for a daytrip. |
