Apartment 417 is in one of two beachfront buildings at the El Matador condos, directly on the Gulf of Mexico. The security at the El Matador is excellent - the guards are pleasant and helpful and are at the gate and the property 24/7. Many of the guests during the summer from Memorial day to Labor Day reserve for the following year before they leave, so these times are not available. However, the owner believes the best time is the "Off Season" from Labor Day to Easter when Okaloosa Island/Fort Walton Beach/Destin areas are not crowded.
The unit is unique because it is on the ground floor and allows the children and adults to leave by one of two sliding glass doors with the main pool directly in front of them and the gulf beachfront directly to their right - both just steps away from the unit. It is not possible to build units on the ground floor of the beach anymore - and you need to experience this convenience and sense of belonging to the beach as compared to Being "up in the air" at a higher floor - and you still have a great view of the beach and the gulf from this condo - both from in the condo and on the adjacent patio !
The apartment is completely redone in a exciting modern style. The beach front adjoins a very quiet area of beach which contains the federal reserve military base which affords a sense of added privacy with no additional resorts to that side - a very unique feature which cannot be duplicated elsewhere in the Destin - Fort Walton Beach -Okaloosa Island playgrounds. You have access to private indoor jacuzzi's, workout rooms, an outdoor solar heated pool, party room, offices of the El Matador Assn., all within the grounds of the perfectly manicured expertly cared for grounds of this icon of the Okaloosa Island Fort Walton Beach, Florida area.
We do not have any availability during the summer - but do come and experience this on the ground direct gulf beachfront unit during the non- crowded part of the year and get on the waiting list for summer months if you like the experience. A good Dell computer is connected and available in the Master Bedroom which has a TV and a king-sized bed and adjoining bath. The guest bedroom has two twin beds, a TV, and a bathroom with a shower. The den has a TV and entertainment center and it could be possible for two guests to sleep in this area. Your car can be conveniently parked beside the unit on the side of the unit that does not directly face the beachfront or elsewhere in the large parking facility that is available.
There are excellent restaurants of all types in the Fort Walton Beach and adjacent Destin areas, as well as all of the other fishing and boating activities which are famous for the area. No smoking is permitted at any time in this unit.

- Extensively renovated, ground floor, facing Gulf, facing main pool, facing Gulf beach front,all visible from within condo and from adjacent patio, with computer within master bedroom, TV's with cable, full kitchen, not available from Memorial Day to Labor Day because it is always filled with loyal returnees, but available from Labor Day to Easter - the best and least crowded time to visit the Ft. Walton-Destin area (in the opinion of the owner) you will NOT need the elevators - they do not allow anyone to build this one of a kind unit on the ground floor anymore because of possible storm damage but it is surely a great unit to rent for convenience and luxury (the owner has to be the only one worried about damage from a storm - you get to enjoy the beauty and convenience !
