This stylish, romantic and petit duplex is located on the first floor (up one level of stairs from the street, French-style) of an 18th-century building which is situated on the rue St Antoine in the heart of the historic Marais. The apartment is located just around the corner from the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful and peaceful urban squares in the world. It's a 10 minutes walk to Notre Dame Cathedral or 15 minutes to the Louvre Museum, and only 5 minutes to the romantic cobblestones beside the River Seine. On the street are lots of speciality food shops--fromage, vin and pastries !! There are also many restaurants and cafes - after just a one-minute walk to the Place du Marche Ste Catherine there are nine restaurants alone!
St Paul metro is only a one min walk and the Bastille metro is five minutes away in the other direction, making all the sights of Paris within easy reach.
The apartment was totally renovated and remodeled recently. It retains the historic character while introducing state-of-the-art amenities and furnishings. The style is minimalist, modern and classic Parisian chic.
The main room of the apartment houses the living room and kitchen. It is a lovely, airy space with 13 foot ceiling and two 10 foot double-pane windows that look onto a quiet courtyard with greenery below. This room also has the original roof beams exposed. The kitchen area is unusually well fitted for a vacation apartment-- there is a full oven, four-burner glass stovetop, matt granite counters over gloss-black units, a microwave, and all the equipment you'll need to whip up a gourmet meal from the wonderful local markets. There is also a washer dryer and dishwasher. In the dining area there is a stylish Jean Nouvel glass-topped dining table that seats three, but can be slid open to accommodate up to six. There are two Philippe Starck Louis Ghost limited edition mask chairs and extra folding chairs should they be needed. In the sitting area there is a Chinese antique elm coffee table, and a comfortable sofa that converts to a double bed for extra guests....however, the apartment is best suited to two or three people. The 21 inch TV which folds into the wall has satellite giving you 100 English-language channels (mostly UK, but also CNN). There are two small closets in this room.
A particularly special feature of this apartment is the secret petit staircase (just visible in the first picture) in the wall that leads up to the bedroom. This makes the flat seem much more spacious than it is (it is only about 370 square feet or 35 sq m altogether). The bedroom has the most comfortable bed you'll ever sleep in, oak flooring and a built-in closet with hanging space. There are storage boxes under the bed and a small chest of drawers. Off the bedroom, behind stylish etched-glass sliding doors, is a power shower (a rarity in Paris) and WC with concealed cistern, all fully tiled with slate-coloured porcelain tiles. This room overlooks the courtyard, with an opening window, as well.
There is wireless high-speed internet if you bring your own laptop and free local calls from the landline.
Altogether, this is a lovely, quiet, stylish, excellently equipped and romantic little apartment, ideally located for you to enjoy all that Paris has to offer.

The apartment is in an ideal location and staying here was a great way to visit Paris. It is in a nice residential area so we got to feel what it is like to live in Paris. The Metro stop is across the street. There are great restaurants within easy walking distance, wine and cheese shops across the street and a supermarket a block away. It was great having a washer and dryer as we were traveling for three weeks. I would highly recommend this apartment.

Thank you Judi for for the best apartment we could have found! It was perfect. It was very comfortable and the location could not have been better. So close to everything. The Marais is such a great area and we could walk to many close points of interest....If you're into walking. The Metro line is right across the street as well as many great food and wine stores....like I said; PERFECT. Beth & Amelia

We spent 2 glorious weeks in the apartment in August 2010. It was just as we imagined a Paris apartment would be including the the stairs leading up to the front door. The apartment was beautiful and equiped with everything that we could've have wanted. The location was fantastic close to everything shops, restaurants and more importantly the St-Paul metro station. We loved the local area (Marais district) and spent many an hour just wandering around our local streets or sittting at a cafe. Many of the major attractions were within easy walking distance. Dealing with the owners Aileen and Judi was a pleasure and both responded to all our questions promptly. The local contact Michael was great and we hope thta his leg is better and that he has given up riding motorbikes. Have already recommeded the apartment to fgriends.

We had a wonderful three month stay in Summer '09. Great apartment is as pictured and described, and the transactions with Aileen went very smoothly. The location is great; very near cafes, restaurants, food shops and Metro. We will return.

This apartment was ideal for our one month stay. It is very quiet and airy and has a superb kitchen.Immediately across the street is a large selection of food and wine stores which made shopping simple and efficient. It is very close to a metro station and the River Seine and superbly situated for exploring the shops, galleries and restaurants in the Marais quarter. We will stay here again in the near future.
