Hayward cottage description
Annies Cottage is a private lake home located at the end of a country road - through a quiet and tranquil forest.
It is a real old-fashioned log home which we were told is about 70 years old. We have owned and enjoyed it for 10 years now. This year (2012), for the first time we are personally offering to others to rent, so they can also enjoy this bit of paradise.
Although our home is older, you can’t tell from the inside, as it looks and feels as comfortable and modern as any lake cottage. And by that we mean that the bathroom and kitchen have the modern conveniences, and the home has central air conditioning.
Walk into the living room, and you’ll immediately feel the atmosphere of an old log home. You’ll see walls of big logs, sturdy wood floors and a massive stone fireplace. No gas fireplace in this cottage; our fireplace only burns real wood.
There’s nothing quite as comforting on a cool evening as curling up with an interesting book or a loved one, or friends, in front of a real fireplace - watching the flames of the burning logs dance around in the dark.
This home is only about 75 feet from a super premium lake, Whitefish. Whitefish Lake is the deepest and clearest lake in the county, and it’s among the largest - with nearly 1,000 acres of water!
Enjoy excellent fishing (walleye, northern, crappies, large and small-mouth bass) with the included row boat or bring your own boat or have us tell you where you can rent one nearby.
Or climb into the into the included canoe and paddle over to a nearby restaurant right on the water for a delightful evening in the company of others. The canoe also works well for an invigorating paddle around the lake on a brisk clear morning.
A modern dock is included for just for your group’s use. There’s plenty of room to tie up your own water toys or maybe a pontoon you’ve rented from a nearby marina right on our lake. The little ones probably will love to fish for crappies right off the end of our dock.
The master bedroom with a queen bed is on the first floor, along with a second bedroom with two twin beds. The second floor loft-bedroom has a queen bed. Our three season porch has a convertible sofa/bed.
Our cottage comes with a double car garage, so there is plenty of room to securely store your boat, fishing equipment, water toys and snow mobiles.
There is a nice fire pit with seating near the center of our large yard. It’s a perfect place for your family and friends to sit around and tell ghost stories or roast marshmallows or make S'mores for the kids.
We’re located just 15 miles from the famous resort town of Hayward with a variety of golf, shops, restaurants and world class attractions.
Hayward typically attracts visitors that love nature and the outdoors. The miles of mountain trails are open for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding in the summertime.
Enjoy the Lumberjack Word Championships (that attracts participants from as far away as New Zealand). Or attend the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, a weekend of mountain biking events.
When the snow has settled in, the area becomes a haven for cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snow shoeing. There are over 600 miles of groomed snow mobile and cross country ski routes over varying distances and terrains. The American Birkebinder Cross County Ski Marathon is well known all over the Midwest.
Don’t miss experiencing the North Country in Annies Cottage. It’s open every day of the year!

We enjoyed our stay at Annie's Cabin on Whitefish Lake. The place was neat and clean upon arrival, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I liked the location which has a nice view, and there were few mosquitoes. The lake was great for swimming, mostly sandy bottom, and the water is quite clear. We frequently drove our boat to the sandbar at the East end of the lake where we could float around on our inflatable rafts. My grandson, who is eight, caught lots of bluegills and liked riding in the boat. We had a nice vacation.

Class A Annie
Class A Annie
"Annie" is a gem of a classic northwoods log cabin. The photos don't really do it justice. It is decorated and furnished beautifully. The sleeping / bathroom facilities easily and comfortably accommodated 6 adults. The grounds, view of the lake, fire pit, etc were ideal. Whitefish Lake is a beauty, crystal clear / sandy bottom, with a few muskies likely to make an appearance. Public boat launch just a block down the lakeshore. Hayward is only 15 or so miles away, as is the casino. Tubing the Namekagon River couldn't have been more scenic or relaxing. And, the Lumberjack World Championships was a hoot. Qwners were very cooperative. Damage deposit returned very promptly. Only potential concern for younger or older renters, the steep stairs to the cabin loft, as well as the 40+ stairs down to the lake. "Annie" rates a return visit.
