The "Island House," is a custom-built, 5-bedroom, 3-full bath,solar oriented, Colonial-style home, completed in 2002. It is a tastefully furnished and decorated with a mix of contemporary and antique furnishings (including 4 sofas and the most comfortable oversized leather chair). It is a spacious home on a private, lightly wooded lot with outdoor furnishing on rear deck and separate garden area.

There are three full floors of living space, and a full basement with new Maytag washer and dryer, iron and ironing board laundry facility, and a recreation area complete with a new ping-pong table, Air Hockey, Foosball, and arcade games: pinball machines, a "Centipede" video machine, "Super PacMan", and "Mappy" video game There are also 2 wooden doll houses, dart board, second piano, play area with table, and lots of beach chairs (& umbrella), beach cooler, beach toys and even flippers. Bicycles available for a renal fee, please inquire. It is the quintessential home for the perfect group or family get-away!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Barbara's lovely home. It was a truly gracious home, lovely rugs, vases with flowers, furnishings, so many little touches that added to the elegance. It was far from being a "beach cottage!" Honestly, she thought of everything - from babies to adults. (Games, CD's, brochures about the Vineyard.) And the kitchen was totally outfitted for entertaining - and the local restaurants did the rest! The house is centrally located for short excursions to other parts of the island, and it's a pleasant walk straight down her street to downtown Edgartown and the harbor.

  • Our party of 10 enjoyed a perfect August week at the Colonial Island House! Two families of 5 (with children ranging in age from 6 to 14) shared this home without the least bit of contention for space. The beds and bedding were top-quality and a pleasure to rest in. All 3 of the gorgeous marble bathrooms rival those in luxury hotels. The well-constructed home provided privacy and quiet when needed as well as ample space in which the whole group could cook, dine, play games and hang out. Our teens and 'tweens loved the basement game room and played many hours of ping-pong and video games. We took many bike trips to Edgartown and South Beach. Even our determined 6 and 7 year olds were up for the ride to South Beach! Barbara is a most professional property owner, clearly interested in long-term relationships with her guests. The quality and thoughtfulness of the furnishings in the home demonstrate a long-term commitment to satisifying guests and encouraging their return. We know we'll be back!

  • Once again, our family enjoyed a great week in this home. Our kids (both under age 5), had a fantastic time in the basement, exploring in the yard, and hiding throughout the spacious house. The location is ideal if you're looking to be close enough to downtown activities but want a little space of your own. The house is well stocked and very clean. Over-all, an A+.   • Kids (little), parents and grandparents stayed in the Edgartown house for the second year in a row. Plenty of space, privacy and play areas with a generous yard. It is close enough to downtown to enjoy the amenities. It was a great place to come home to after a day's adventure. It was clean as a whistle. I'd rate it four clamshells.

  • We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary during the first week of May, at Barbara's beautiful home in Edgartown. We've been traveling to the Vineyard for the past several years, and were eager and excited to return to this magical island! Prior to our arrival, we were very impressed with Barbara's professional, yet friendly and very helpful communications, recommendations, etc., and once there, the house did not disappoint! We absolutely loved the location, as it was the perfect distance to walk to town, and great for scenic runs---especially past the nearby horse farm. The house itself is absolutely lovely; so spacious, yet comfortable and cozy at the same time. We especially loved our 3rd floor master loft, which felt like a luxurious penthouse suite; and definitely enjoyed making a few meals, and hanging out in our striking goutmet kitchen. The decor is very attractive and ecclectic, and it's obvious that everything from fixtures to floors to linens are top of the line. We felt like pampered guests here, and cannot wait to return! Barbara is a gracious host and her outstanding home is a perfect "retreat!"
