Sand Patch is a special place, sophisticated yet beachy and completely remodeled in June 2007. Our goal is to maximize your enjoyment, let the place enhance your time here and leave the rest up to you and your imagination.
The Sand Patch is a colorful and ideal for a vacation or short-term stay. The home is just a short walk from famous La Jolla Shores Beach and an enjoyable stroll from great dining and people watching. The Sand Patch put you in a great environment and location with easy freeway access so if you want to venture out to see San Diego's other attractions you can do so without much hassle. The beautiful village of La Jolla with its shops, markets, galleries and restaurants is far enough away to remove you from any frenzy but close enough to take off a longer walk and enjoy.
Once you arrive at Sand Patch you will feel like you are somewhere different and from that moment begin to relax and enjoy yourself. Enjoy breakfast under a wide market umbrella on your front deck and take in the peek views of La Jolla Cove. Then, after a day out or at the beach retire to the back patio to barbeque, read and dine alfresco. Outdoor lighting and speakers will enhance the mood. The property is fully fenced and gated offering you privacy and security. You are in a small, private haven once you close the gate behind you. An outdoor hot and cold shower offers a refreshing alternative for cleaning-up after a quick dip in the ocean. This is a great place to take in the good, year-round weather of La Jolla. Open your French doors to pick an orange off the tree and take in the fresh air and warm sunshine.
The living area has beautiful hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace and plenty of windows make for a striking living area. Relax on the comfortable sofa to read, listen to music or watch cable. Seat 8 around your long wood table, ideal for entertaining friends and family. This home has a modern cook's kitchen with ample counter space, stainless steel appliances and a large side-by-side fridge. You'll find everything you need to cook up a storm and serve your meals attractively. The cooks get to watch the world go by through large windows that open onto the front deck.
This beach house has two bedrooms plus a bonus sleeping space in the beautifully converted garage. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed with built in Plantation Shutter closets and French doors that lead to the back patio plus television with full cable channels and ceiling fan. The second bedroom offers two colorful twin beds, built in closet and ceiling fan. The bonus room is off the kitchen and features a single bed plus desk for the busy traveler. The living room also has a sofa sleeper to create additional sleeping space if needed. The rooms are light and airy - perfect for a beach retreat. All of your linen, towels and bedding are provided.
There is high-speed internet access throughout the property for your laptop computer. We also provide adult size beach cruiser bicycles, boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler so you can enjoy the area the way we locals do. For families with small children, we provide a high chair and pak-n-play crib. Upon request we can also provide additional baby items such as a full size crib, jogging stroller, bed rails, noise monitor, etc.
In addition, we offer full concierge services. You can order discounted attraction tickets, food and dairy products to be delivered to the home prior to your arrival. We can set dinner reservations or tee times for you, and we can help you with planning any other activity or special request you may have.
This home also includes off street parking for one car in the driveway. This home has forced air heating but does not have air conditioning.

We stayed in Sand Patch 2 November 2010. The location is fantastic, only a block from the one of the best beaches in La Jolla. All the amenities you would need are only 2 blocks from the house and the villiage is only a 5 minute drive. The place was very clean, updated and had a lot of space for what we needed (2 adults and 2 young children). My only criticisms would be that the street was a little busy/noisy (we closed the windows the second night and it wasn’t an issue)… and the beds were a little uncomfortable… I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in La Jolla and we will be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful stay at Sand Patch One in La Jolla. Just blocks from the beach, and readily accessable to San Diego's many destinations, we were able to enjoy many memorable moments during our stay. The house was clean and roomy. Having our groceries delivered prior to our arrival was an added bonus. As was the use of a jogging stroller, beach toys and other baby items for our child.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

"Fabulous Beach Vacation - We'll Return Again Next Year" Lovely little neighborhood. House is just blocks from the beach. Our 2-year-old loved the amazing playground on the beach. Avenida de la Playa has some great little restaurants. Osteria Romantica has incredible Italian food. Very easy to get everywhere in San Diego. I couldn't recommend this more highly. We came from Germany and had chosen Sand-Patch Two the year before as well. Due to the dates, we had chosen Sand-Patch One and Two (moved from one house over to the other) and loved both of them. Nice, clean, modern-styled furniture, nice garden, beautifully located. To be honest, it was a dream to stay there. We loved every minute and the service of the rental agency was PERFECT. Whenever we will come back, we will try to stay there again. We liked best the relaxes atmosphere, the arrangement of the room, the kitchen, the extra room that was created in the garage, the garden, the closeness to restaurant and beach. Then real only set-back was the watering of the garden starting at 4 a.m. and that the running water could be heard in the house. But this was changed by the owner within one day. Visiting California for Christmas was a great experience and one which certainly benefited from the home comforts provided at Sand Patch One. We enjoyed staying at Sand Patch One. The house was very well appointed, clean and roomy and very close to the beach. My children enjoyed the front and back yards and the bikes were a bonus. The only issue was the checking out policy. We were required to strip the beds/ all linens and "clean" prior to the cleaning crews arrival.Did you find this review helpful? one of the best beaches in the San Diego area, grocery store, coffee shop, new delicious fro yo spot, and a variety of dining choices (everything from beachy casual to dress & heels). This is our favorite area to stay - truly a hidden gem. So close to La Jolla, and freeways to everywhere else! We stayed in Sand Patch for two weeks June/July 2010 (this last time we had our two little girls, ages 5 & 8, and our nanny with us) and originally stayed here the month of September 2000 (when we got married and prior to the 2007 renovation). Simply furnished and updated it was done so thoughtfully: Couch and chairs in living room are very comfortable and while not very large space it is surprisingly roomy - we were still able to play twister successfully (hope you enjoy our contribution!). Beautiful morning light here. Dining area table, though a bit tight, we were able to host 7 adults for a sit down. Master bedroom has a high princess and the pea bed – good linens was a happy surprise and love, love the French doors. Plus ample closet and drawer space so that everything can be put away (including suitcases). 2nd bedroom is good sized and perfect for our two girls (not sure if I can imagine two adults in those ikea twin beds though…). Bathroom is small and clean. Kitchen is really cute! By the 3rd day I was really missing my range and dishwasher from home but by the 10th day I couldn’t remember anything different (almost). We did a ton of cooking and it kept up. Spare room/laundry is truly that. Our nanny from Brazil was ok with it, as might a teenager be. Other than that, not so much. The room is a garage that was somewhat converted (still has garage door and feeling). Laundry noise is not muffled by shutter doors. House as updated windows that truly make a great difference and is equipped with wonderful fans that do their job. Back patio area is fabulous! We love it and We’ll be back…Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Not only is the property gorgeous, the location is absolutely perfect as well. La Jolla Shores is a wonderful location with lots to do for the whole family. You couldn't ask for a more prestine vacation rental!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
