Tastefully restored 16th Century stone farmhouse within the grounds of magnificent castle on the Tuscan Umbrian border.
This charming Farmhouse features traditional chestnut beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces but also affords modern comforts! Outdoor dining table and independent area for al fresco dining. In addition to the large swimming pool complete with sun umbrellas and sun loungers there is a huge, well maintained lawn ideal for kids plus cypress and oak trees, lavender, rosemary, dog rose and wild laurel hedges. The historical farmhouse is situated on the banks of a small stream that marks the border between Tuscany and Umbria.
From the pool one enjoys a lovely view of the estates very own medieval castle as well as the carefully tended fields that completely surround the property! BBQ's with tables for dining 'al fresco' are provided along with convenient laundry facility.
The house is just minutes from the centre of a tiny hilltop village rich in history and culture. The famous & prized medieval hilltop town of Anghiari is just a 15 minute drive and Monterchi, home to Piero della Francesca's famed 'Pregnant Madonna' is 5 minutes from the property. Both Anghiari and Monterchi boast a number of excellent restaurants and bars along with traditional weekly markets and specialty shops.
All guests staying in the farmhouse are entitled to a tour of the castle by your warm hostesses Federica & Lilli. The 360 degree panorama from the turreted roof of the castle is just spectacular and the underground vaulted wine cellar amazing. The great granddaughters will often invite you to sample the estates wines and pre dinner drinks for large groups may be enjoyed [by arrangement] in this special cellar. The farmhouse is just minutes from the castle itself and thus provides ideal additional accommodation for larger wedding parties or conventions to be held at the castle.
The property provides an idyllic setting for a relaxing vacation and is ideally suited to large family reunions or groups of friends with bambini exploring Tuscany & Umbria together. While there is ample space for time together, the apartments also offer complete privacy. The estate is a paradise for kids and there are a wealth of places worthwhile visiting both in the area and a little further afield.
Rental is generally from Saturday to Saturday but subject to availability alternative days may be arranged. In shoulder or low season the property may also be rented on a nightly basis, minimum 3 nights.
