Enjoy this original '50's cottage and boathouse that have been completely renovated during the 2005-06 seasons. Sit on the boathouse or lounge in the hammock and watch the world go by. Dive off the boathouse or take a relaxing swim beside the swim dock. Climb into a pair of kayaks or take a lazy conoe ride (no additional charge) and explore the "nooks & crannies" of this magnificent clear water lake---this home has it all.
The house will sleep six comfortably and add two more on a queen size platform Aero bed provided. From the Master Bedroom take your morning coffee across the level 20 foot catwalk and watch the lake come to life from the boathouse sun deck. While there, enjoy your MP3 music through a four speaker Bose sound system. This is a recommended way to start your day on Lake Burton.
While the adults are enjoying the sun porch with lake views, the children can either swim off the dock, or watch TV or DVD's in the den---the swim dock has a "special concrete walk down floor" that is a gradual entrance into the lake (perfect for toddlers.) The kitchen is fully equipped, you can cook and look at the lake here too. If you like to grill, use the two (2) Weber charcoal & the gas grill on the boathouse. This boathouse sun deck offers over 1200 square feet (one of the largest on Lake Burton)----perfect for entertaining, dining, sunning, etc. It comes fully equipped with refrigerator, ice maker, 30 feet of custom cabinets, and special twi-light custom lighting. At the end of the day, enjoy your own private outdoor hot & cold water shower (equipped with its own private changing area.) No need to leave the lake for indoor "primping" -- this is lake burton!
The house is at the end of a two house private driveway (no road noise or dust at this location.) Additionally, it offers a generous amount of parking (7+ vehicles) and only 20 feet from the water! Bring your power boats and jet skis--the boathouse will stow (1) one boat under cover and the docks will tie-off many additional boats water toys. This home is ready for fun, frolic, & lots of relaxation. Most of all, enjoy the new lifetime memories your family & friends will have--just like the last 50 years for its owners.

Why the Owner Chose Lake Burton
We are so fortunate because we didn't have to buy our vacation home -- this is where Steph and I spent summers as children growing up. We were both teenagers and met on the lake. Steph's parents had a summer cabin on one end of Lake Burton -- my family had one on the other end. We sorta met in the middle.

Therefore, the location and size of the lot are nearly perfect--500 feet of lake front, private cove, and lots of level parking. The house and boat house were completely remodeled 4 years ago. Steph and I (David) have lived in Rabun County for over 15 years. We grew up together as children on Lake Burton - what a terrific place to meet your future bride! We are retired, but work part time with a therapudic wilderness program for troubled teens. I do a bit of radio broadcasting for our Rabun County Wildcats (football & basketball.) We feel so blessed to live in one of the most beautiful areas of our country. We look forward to meeting you and sharing this beautiful area with you and your family.

We are so glad to have had the opportunity to meet the people who own the adorable cabin on Lake Burton--Shangri-La. We all agree it was our best cabin, and we have been to many over the years together, and by far the most restful. We felt the history of family and friends. The special treats made our stay even more memorable. Thank you for that! I believe the week at your cabin physically & emotionaly prepared us all for George's upcoming surgery. Our prayer is we will come back to beautiful Lake Burton when he is well.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dyer, I had a lot of fun at your lake house. I loved everything about it! My mom, dad, and sister loved it too. The view from..everywhere is really one-of-a-kind. The inside of your lake house is really comforting, with the pictures of your family, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect place to spend a vacation. My sister and I had a lot of fun on your kayaks, and my parents enjoyed the canoe. Your boathouse is really neat too. My sister and I got up the courage to jump off the edge into the icy-cold water! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!! I told my parents that I hoped we could come here next summer to do that again, and in the winter with our friends that we usually come to the mountains with. This is the BEST vacation home I've been to in my whole life! Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful experience! I LOVED every minute!

I have rented several homes on Lake Burton over the years, but this is by far my favorite! David and Stephanie are so pleasant to deal with! The location and view are fabulous! The house is extremely charming with every attention to detail and the boathouse was exceptional and extremely well equipped! I can't wait to go back!!

We enjoyed our vacation so much. The owner's, Stephanie and David, were so helpful and made everything just perfect for us. I asked one of my daughter-in-laws to rate the weekend 1-10. She said 11! It was that good! Thank you David and Stephanie for a home away from home. Every detail of Shangri-La is attentive toward the comfort and hospitality of its guests. You have thought of everything! Thank you for the "little extras" we found on arrival. We appreciated your phone calls to check on us and to see if we needed anything. Several of our friends have indicated they plan on coming your way. Fall should be grand on Lake Burton!

Thank you once again for allowing us to enjoy your amazing lake home. Usually, I don't enjoy my second visit to a place as much as the first. However, that definitely was not the case at your lake house. We all thoroughly enjoyed being lazy, sitting for hours on end on the boathouse while looking at the beautiful view. It's the best place I've ever been to truly rest and relax.

We slipped away on Father's Day to Shangri-La and it was a perfect start to our summer! We enjoyed being together as a family, sunrises-sunsets-and meals on the boat house deck, kayaking, boating, and swimming! The view of the lake is beautiful (open view but private cove) and Lake Burton is as special today as I remembered from childhood. One evening we watched a storm move across the lake from the sunroom; it was breathtaking. David and Stephanie, thank you for your hospitality (above and beyond) and for sharing your home with our family!

Thanks David and Stephanie.....our first trip to Lake Burton and we fell in love with this place! The cookies were a huge hit with the kids! We were unpacking when the kids asked "when can we come back"......that should sum it up! We spent the days fishing,swimming,boating and just plain relaxing! You can't beat the location of this house.....it's tucked just enough in a cove to feel comfortable with the kids enjoying the water while still being able to look across and see the main part of the lake....it's just beautiful! We will definitely be coming back!

The location and views were magnificent. We all enjoyed the wonderful boat house and moored raft. The owners special efforts made us feel welcomed. The cottage is well stocked, they have thought of everything. Our daughters and their husbands now know why we love Lake Burton. Each of us found a special place on the property, the hammock, the swing, the sleeping porch and together we all found a piece of paradise.

We just spent spring break at this home, and had a wonderful time! Everything we could possibly need was taken care of, and the owners David and Stephanie go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome and provide little unexpected "extras" (those eclairs were to die for!!). The pictures on-line really don't do the home justice, especially the views and wonderful boathouse. The house was very clean and well maintained, and the kitchen was very well stocked so you had everything you could possibly need to prepare whatever sort of meal you want! We rented a boat and the explored the whole lake, which is just gorgeous with all the lovely homes and elaborate "boat houses". We took the kids to the fish hatchery right on the lake which they really enjoyed. We definitely will be back when it gets a bit warmer and we can actually swim and go tubing on the boat. Also only a 30 min drive to downtown Helen, which is a fun little day trip. Highly recommend for a getaway!
