We couldn't have had a more perfect spring break...Shangri-La is an exceptional spot and we all hope to return someday. My son caught two good-sized bass from off the dock and another one from the boat somewhere out on the lake. My son-in-law caught several bream using worms. The kids were thrilled! They all enjoyed the 3 kayaks, canoe, and played non stop in the water. I'm sure I've omitted lots of things I wanted to mention---hope you and Stephanie know that your efforts didn't go unnoticed.

This house is incredibly inviting from the moment you walk through the door - the sunroom view literally took my breathe away! And the small, personal details from the owner was such a nice touch (thanks for the wine! It was wonderful!) even tough it was little cool my husband and I really enjoyed the wonderfully appointed boathouse and we actually caught quite a few large bass (one from the top of the boathouse! Go us!:). My husband and I are definitely coming back! He actually wants to build a house just like it:) thanks so much, David for making our weekend get away wonderful! Also, there is a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant called the Laurel Lodge that is open year round (tons of locals were there, full bar and great food!) if you find yourself wanting to go out to eat

There is a state fish hatchery located on the lake. It not only stocks Lake Burton but the fresh water streams and rivers in the Chattahoochee National Forest. A lovely home!!

You just feel at home!! Unexpected treats throughout the house welcomes you. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!! If you are looking for a place you can bring your whole family to enjoy boating or fishing this is the place! My husband and I spent our 36th anniversary week there. Just as the sun was going down on the night of our anniversary we had a beautiful candle light dinner on the dock. Ofcourse the Bose stereo system was playing softly in the background. There are single kayaks and a double. We decided the singles were made for us!! After 36 years we are still unsure of which way to go, so we choose a boat to ourselves! lol. My favorite room was the glassed in porch where I did a lot of reading also lounging on the deck, catnapping. David and Stephanie are really fine people and will get you most anything you need. Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we have!!

We are so glad to have had the opportunity to meet the people who own the adorable cabin on Lake Burton--Shangri-La. We all agree it was our best cabin, and we have been to many over the years together, and by far the most restful. We felt the history of family and friends. The special treats made our stay even more memorable. Thank you for that! I believe the week at your cabin physically & emotionaly prepared us all for George's upcoming surgery. Our prayer is we will come back to beautiful Lake Burton when he is well.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dyer, I had a lot of fun at your lake house. I loved everything about it! My mom, dad, and sister loved it too. The view from..everywhere is really one-of-a-kind. The inside of your lake house is really comforting, with the pictures of your family, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect place to spend a vacation. My sister and I had a lot of fun on your kayaks, and my parents enjoyed the canoe. Your boathouse is really neat too. My sister and I got up the courage to jump off the edge into the icy-cold water! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!! I told my parents that I hoped we could come here next summer to do that again, and in the winter with our friends that we usually come to the mountains with. This is the BEST vacation home I've been to in my whole life! Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful experience! I LOVED every minute!

I have rented several homes on Lake Burton over the years, but this is by far my favorite! David and Stephanie are so pleasant to deal with! The location and view are fabulous! The location and views were magnificent. We all enjoyed the wonderful boat house and moored raft. The owners special efforts made us feel welcomed. The cottage is well stocked, they have thought of everything. Our daughters and their husbands now know why we love Lake Burton. Each of us found a special place on the property, the hammock, the swing, the sleeping porch and together we all found a piece of paradise.

Just Couldn't Stay Long Enough!

We slipped away on Father's Day to Shangri-La and it was a perfect start to our summer! We enjoyed being together as a family, sunrises-sunsets-and meals on the boat house deck, kayaking, boating, and swimming! The view of the lake is beautiful (open view but private cove) and Lake Burton is as special today as I remembered from childhood. One evening we watched a storm move across the lake from the sunroom; it was breathtaking. David and Stephanie, thank you for your hospitality (above and beyond) and for sharing your home with our family!

Thanks David and Stephanie.....our first trip to Lake Burton and we fell in love with this place! The cookies were a huge hit with the kids! We were unpacking when the kids asked "when can we come back"......that should sum it up! We spent the days fishing,swimming,boating and just plain relaxing! You can't beat the location of this house.....it's tucked just enough in a cove to feel comfortable with the kids enjoying the water while still being able to look across and see the main part of the lake....it's just beautiful! We will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful home on Lake Burton!

We just spent spring break at this home, and had a wonderful time! Everything we could possibly need was taken care of, and the owners David and Stephanie go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome and provide little unexpected "extras" (those eclairs were to die for!!). The pictures on-line really don't do the home justice, especially the views and wonderful boathouse. The house was very clean and well maintained, and the kitchen was very well stocked so you had everything you could possibly need to prepare whatever sort of meal you want! We rented a boat and the explored the whole lake, which is just gorgeous with all the lovely homes and elaborate "boat houses". We took the kids to the fish hatchery right on the lake which they really enjoyed. We definitely will be back when it gets a bit warmer and we can actually swim and go tubing on the boat. Also only a 30 min drive to downtown Helen, which is a fun little day trip. Highly recommend for a getaway!

Dave and Stephanie, Thanks so much for sharing your place on Lake Burton with us. You have done a wonderful job providing everything someone would need for a spectacular time. The house was comfortable and well equipped but the view is breathtaking. With the house being so close to the water, our handicapped mom could sit on the sunporch and enjoy the view of the changing leaves reflecting off of the water. She could also get out to the boathouse since it connects directly to the house and we all enjoyed hours overlooking the lake and watching our daughter and her friend kayak in the cove. We even enjoyed several of our meals out there. We would love to come back when some of our family could meet us for a cookout. It is the perfect place for that! We also drove a small distance and got to take our mom to the drive in movie in Tiger. Its been a long time since any of us had done that and we all enjoyed it. Thanks again for all that you did to make it not only possible but a wonderful trip for my mom who uses a walker and her daughters and granddaughters. We hope to come back soon. Patti Howard

I looked long and hard for the perfect girlfriends' getaway. I am choosy about my vacation homes. I wanted one with charm yet very comfortable. Shangri-La exceeded all our expectations. We ate, drank, and laughed all weekend with one of the best views of the lake. Every part of the property had a place to enjoy Lake Burton with friends and family. What amazed us was how impeccable the landscaping and cabin were. The owners were helpful and made us feel so welcome and spoiled. We had such an amazing time on our trip to Lake Burton. The cabin was immaculate, organized, and the beds were SO comfortable! The view from the sun room was breathtaking. Many hours were spent jumping from the boathouse and hanging out on the deck. Having rented other properties on Lake Burton, this one has by far been the best. We are looking forward to returning each year. You won't find a nicer guy than David Dyer anywhere on the lake! :) I highly recommend this property.

Perfect in every way!! Our stay at the Dyer's lake house was everything we hoped for---and much more. The property was up-to-date, clean, and we truly only needed to bring our toothbrushes, swimsuits, and food. The kitchen was well equipped to handle any cooking needs, the beds were as comfy as home, and the house was roomy enough to allow 4 teens and 4 adults to "spread out" during the sporadic rainfall periods. And did I mention the lake? WOW! The view is awesome and the water is crystal clear. If you're looking for a family vacation spot--you have certainly found it here. The Dyer's provide true southern hospitality and you will leave planning your next trip. Thanks Steph and David for the wonderful memories!

Dear David & Steph, The cabin FAR exceeded our expectations! It's hard to convey in photographs how close to the water the cabin actually is. The amenities you provided were above & beyond. Our time was spent either on the boathouse dock or relaxing in the sunroom looking out on the lake. It was an easy 15-20 minute boat ride to LaPrades. We are definately NOT ready to leave!

This house is very cool! I loved everything about it. The best thing about it is that I got to ride a Kayak. I've never ridden one before. It was really fun. I also liked the big dock that you could jump off of. The fishing was good. I caught about 10 fish. I could have caught more, but my little sister fished the lake down. I will never forget this house.

This is an ideal place for anyone wishing to get away. It has been upgraded to perfection without losing its 'cabin' like feel, and it has all the amenities you need. It's probably one of the best locations on the lake being in a small cove close to the water with a lot of privacy. The cabin offers beautiful views of the lake from almost every room. The boat dock and sun deck are amazing. This is where we spent most of our time reading, listening to the sound system, or just having a cocktail. We will definitely revisit this place as it is special to both of us. I traveled up there with my girlfriend and back with my fiance, and I don't think I could have chosen a better place to ask the question. Thanks for the hospitality and allowing us to stay in your home.

As you can see from previous comments, this lake house is one-of-a-kind. It is well-equipped, beautiful and has an excellent location. The cove is safe enough for my young kids to swim around without fear of boat traffic but the cove opens up to a larger view of the lake which you can enjoy from all common areas in the house (plus the master bedroom) or the "party" deck as we affectionately referred to it. As I said, it's safe and fun for young kids and my extended family came up for day trips to enjoy the splendor with us. But most of all, David and Steph offer wonderful and kind hospitality that make you feel like you are being welcomed to their home rather than just a rental. My husband and I have been wondering, "So, how far in advance do they let you book this place!?" We will certainly return!

I cannot say enough about our wonderful week at this cabin. Where do I begin? The boathouse was the center of our activities: jumping off into the clear water, eating lunch and sipping cocktails on the deck, sitting and just enjoying peace and silence as the sun rose and set; and the house was so comfortable, efficient, and beautiful! Cooking in your cabin is a pleasure because the view is priceless! The ample parking was wonderful, the secluded cove and locale private and safe, and we loved the smaller dock for morning coffee, family swimming, and just listening to the sounds of the beautiful Lake. Thank you for a perfect week! We heartily recommend this home to everyone looking for a wonderful time on Burton!

Our family enjoyed our stay very much. The views were amazing from every window, the close and easy access to the lake was perfect for swimming, fishing and boating(especially for our children ages 6 & 8). The boathouse/sundeck was wonderful for dining and relaxing and easily accessable from the house as well. The home is well kept and clean and the personal touches were welcoming and much appreciated. Our family was lucky enough to be able to stay in this wonderful and serene home. Last year, we started vacationing in our "back yard" instead of 10 hours away at the beach. Our family had a wonderful time. We were close enough that various family & friends could join us for a day or an evening. Lovely home, big kitchen, softest beds, gorgeous views, great lake access, and the sun deck was our favorite. We love this lake house! The views are magical and mesmirizing. You supplied everything we needed or wanted--all we had to do is bring the food! We had an amazing time! We WILL be back!

We have rented many cabins in various north Georgia locations and this is by far the best one we've found. The owners were so wonderful about making sure we had everything we needed. The cabin is perfect and the dock was awesome. Our 2 teenage sons loved the surrounding area and cruising around the lake on a rented pontoon (LaPrade's Marina) was fun. We certainly look forward to renting this cabin again soon!
