  This was a wonderful little place. I had 4 friends with me. Perfect size. I thought the house was right in town but it turned out that it was on a very quiet and remote neighborhood just outside the city which is exactly what I wanted. Oh we saw deer in our front yard! We had a lovely dinner outside on the deck listening to the crickets. Michele the owner was perfect. I only had time for 1 night on a 3 day weekend and she allowed me to rent it. She also negotiated a great deal for me to stay a little longer past the checkout time so we could just sit on the deck and enjoy the nature before we drove past the city. I would definitely come back here.

  I stayed at the cottage with three family members over the July 4th weekend. Overall, we had a very nice time. A few details: PROS: -The property was clean and comfortably and tastefully furnished. The house also gets lots of natural light. -The kitchen has basic utensils and pots and pans to cook a meal. -The pretty backyard (which is shared with the main house) has a pool (unheated) and a small patio with a dining table. -The living room and dining room are connected, making a nice open space where everyone can spend time together. -The cottage is within walking distance of the main drag in Woodstock. CONS: -The owner asks for payment in full before your stay. -The bedrooms are on the small side. One does not have a window or ceiling fan, so it got pretty stuffy at night. -There is a large grill on the patio but it was out of propane. -The house has wifi access, but it is very unreliable and hardly worked at all during our stay. -The cable went out on our second day and the owners said they could not get it reconnected during our stay (though their explanation wasn't clear to us). They were apologetic and offered to reimburse us $25. But it has now been over three weeks and we have not received the check that was promised, even after following up twice. -The owner can take a long time to respond to email. I found that she was eager to connect when we owed her money but she took several days to respond to my questions about the house and about the cable reimbursement. If not for these issues--specifically, the wi-fi, cable, and difficulty getting the promised reimbursement--we would have given the house a higher rating.

  My two children cried on the morning of our departure. I'm not sure if their tears were because of the beautiful surroundings, the pool where they lived for two weeks or because of the 42 inch television set in the poolhouse livingroom. It is difficult pleasing teenagers, so I thank you and hope to be back next summer. Marty
