This cottage features a downstairs ocean-view master bedroom with cable TV, king-size bed and changing room with full bath. The cottage also includes a living room with cable TV and VCR, Wi-Fi Internet access, unlimited long distance phone service in the USA, a sitting room with puzzle area, a very well-equipped kitchen with dining area and a full front deck with lounge chairs and gas grill. Many family reunions have been enjoyed at Bold Coast Cottage.

Cutler is only a one and a half hour drive from Bar Harbor and two hours from Bangor making either airport easily accessible.

Bold Coast Cottage is located right on Money Cove. From the cove's shores sea kayakers or canoers can launch and paddle through the notch to the open ocean and experience majestic towering ledges, and explore Little River Island where a newly restored historic lighthouse guards the entrance to Cutler Harbor. Visitors also enjoy wading and beach combing in the cove or just sitting on the large deck and watching the lobstermen and hearing the cry of the gulls.

Guests like the convenience of being close to the famed Bold Coast hiking trails and Western Head Trail which feature spectacular views of Grand Mahan, Machias Seal Island and crashing surf. It is from these trails in late summer and fall that some hikers are treated to sightings and spouts of migrating whales. Guests also enjoy the short stroll to the harbor for observing the fishermen unloading the catch of the day at the wharves. Fresh lobster can be purchased at the lobster pound in Cutler Harbor and Puffin cruises depart from the harbor.

The historic, scenic town of Machias is only a short drive away offering complete services such as restaurants, gas stations, grocery store, drug store and hospital as well as familiar favorites McDonald’s, Dunkin' Donuts and Subway.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week at The Bold Coast Cottage. The property is exactly as described yet so much better!! The sunrises on the east side of the deck were glorious. The sunsets on the west side of the deck were breathtaking. Deer trotted through the yard in the morning...ducks play in the cove inlet...the acreage is great fun to walk around and explore. The cottage is warm, welcoming and every need has been anticipated by the owners and Wanda, the delightful property manager. The cottage is clean, cozy and has plenty of linens and towels! The cottage is perfectly located...away from the hustle and bustle yet a lovely picturesque drive to Eastport, Lubec and Campobello Island. The Cutler Bold Coast Trail is great fun to explore together with a visit to Shag Rock, Jasper Beach, Rogue Bluffs Park, the Narrows in Lubec to watch the seals, etc. etc. Our week was marvelous and we hope to go back to The Bold Coast Cottage in the future.

My wife and I go every year to Brittany, France for some get a way time. We are airline people, but had never seen this part of the United States and decided to try something new. With our son from Paris and our Chocolate Lab Bailey we moved into Bold Coast Cottage the first part of August. If you desire a niffty elderly farm house that is very comfortable inside and out, this is the place. There was one little glitch, but we were able to work around it. There is no cell phone service, but there is a land line and WiFi. There are abundant trails for hiking or just walking, but the real charm is the area is it's wonderful people. It starts with an extremely helpful manager, Wanda, and continues with all the folks you meet in Cutler that provide you with as many clams and lobsters as you can eat. My wife and I have been all over the world, but we have never me such a group of genuinely friendly people as you will meet in Cutler. They are truly as interested in you as you are in them. Lubec and Eastport are places you should visit. They are very quaint and they are the ports where you can go for a whale watching sail, 118 ft. gaff rigger, and boat rentals to see seals and all kinds of sea birds and eagles. Take warm clothes when you out on the boats. We were enjoying this area so much, that the last few days we were here were spent looking at property for sale. They have a saying in this part of Maine we found interesting. "The real Maine starts north of Ellsworth." Our family found that saying to be true. This area of the world is like stepping back into a quieter nicer time. It was wonderful experience and to quote Gen. McArthur, "We shall return." We also want to thank the owners for furnishing us friendly and helpful information before we rented their cottage.

We had a great stay at the cottage! The owners and caretakers are all wonderful to deal with. The location is somewhat remote, but that's just what we were looking for. At the same time, day trips are accessible and convenient, so it's the best of both worlds. We would definitely stay here again. For my wife and I, it was a great place to get away from it ALL (kids, work, you name it!). The nearby (and I mean CLOSE by) hiking was great...Western Head and Quoddy Head State Park were excellent spots. The weather was cool, foggy at times, and just what we were looking for this time of year, and just all part of the Maine experience. Highly recommended.

We visited the Bold Coast Oct 8-15th 2011 with a few maine goals; hike, eat lots of lobster, and see a moose. We accomplished everything but the moose sighting. The lobster right out of the harbor was fabulous, and the hiking trails were amazing. We didn't spend much time at the cottage because there were too many beautiful coastline trails to see. For those who like long hikes, the Bold Coast trail is only 3 miles down the road from the cottage to the parking lot. It's a 10 mile loop trail that is worth every blister you may aquire. It has a camping area if you wish to stop half way through and also a shorter loop for those who would like to see the bold coast via a 5 mile loop. If you are not a hiker, there is another trail a few miles beyond this one called the Boot Head Preserve. You do not need anything more than sneakers, and camera. The terrain is easy, boardwalks, steps, viewing platforms and endless moss covering the trail that is softer than carpet. It is our favorite trail ever-and we've hiked hundreds of miles. Beware though, you will not run into lots of tourist! It's the "hidden gem". Most of the trails around the cottage (say 30 minute drive max) offer the same great views that Acadia National Park has minus all the traffic and people. Campobello Island, Canada is also a favorite of ours. Several of the trails are handicapped accessible including one called Eagle Hill Bog that is made up of a 1 mile worth of boardwalk decking. Stop by Friars Head and look for the Eagles. Go to the north end of the island and visit the lighthouse but go during low tide for a special treat. Watch the seals play in the tidal flows at Mulholland Point/lighthouse. And visit Roosevelt's summer cottage while there too. We can't say enough good things about Cutler. The people were helpful and friendly, especially Wanda, the property manager. Jon, the owner was very accommodating and the cottage is cozy. Plenty of room for large or small families or just a couple's gettaway. Take a stroll down to the waterfalls aside of the house. Very peaceful. And the sunrise was amazing from the porch, kitchen, dining, living an bedrooms. Never got to see a sunset though cause we were always out hiking, seeing the local sites, or eating in Lubec or Machias. The house/kitchen is fully stocked and the having the washer/dryer means you can pack very light. We had lobster for breakfast, lunch, & dinner when we were stuck in on the rainy days. Superb!!

Dreamy, simply dreamy, waking up to fog over the meadow down to the cove, out to the ocean, an image like a great landscape painting. Fog horn from Little River Light was very soothing. House was very clean and well appointed, kitchen was equipped for real cooking. Caretaker Wanda was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Location was perfect for making day excursions to many interesting places. For hikers, plan on making the entire loop along the coast of the Bold Coast Trail. Pack food and water and plan for several hours. Absolutely worth the effort. The other trails nearby are well worth the time, too. Again, take food and water and plan to take your time. Puffin tour to Machias Seal Island, when the puffins are nesting, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for bird watchers. Puts out of Cutler Harbor, just down the road.It was nice to be able to stay at the cottage with our dog, who had a blast. If we plan to visit that area of Maine again, we will definitely stay at the Bold Coast Cottage. The house was very comfortable.

Wow ..... Bold Coast Cottage was more than we could have hoped for ! We do not care for the " tourist trap " and sterile accommodations many people think of as vacation. We like a place where we can kick back and relax or interact with local folks one day , and go on driving trips the next . We also love history and learning as we travel . Bold Coast Cottage was all of the above and more ! The cottage itself is a treasure ...... Take note of the worn doorway thresholds ...... And with caretaker Wanda's wonderful stories and information on the area ..... We were happy as clams ! Go to this place if you want seclusion and character ! We Love It ! Michael and Arnold

I give the physical location and the property-open fields with fantastic wrap around deck facing south with views of the ocean and the wooded hills an A+. The kitchen is large and spacious with large eat in area and is very , very well equipped for cooking - A+. The furniture/decor in the cottage is average - including curtains, tables etc is nothing fancy but functional. The upstairs bathroom including shower is small but functional. The downstairs master bathroom is large and adequate- functional not fancy. If you like hiking along the rugged Maine coast , biking, and sea kayaking this is your place. It is off the beaten track .The citizens of Culter are very welcoming . Owner very helpful . Property clean and well-maintained .

This was our second stay at the Cutler, Bold Coast Cottage. We returned for a second year in a row because we loved it the first time. The second stay was no different. All the ammenities were there as promised. Because of this we were able to travel light. Cutler is an amazing place to visit with its scenic views and wonderful, down-home people. The Bold Coast Cottage was a great place to stay to enjoy this as it is within walking distance to the harbor and has beautiful scenery of its own. The caretaker of the house makes sure you have everything you need and we just loved our stay.
