A Gem in Venice

We had a very enjoyable stay at Brittany’s apartment in Venice. I found her unit in VRBO and emailed Brittany several times. Her responses were timely and patient. We arrived at Brittany’s place two hours after the original schedule and she waited for us (with her new born baby) the whole time. The unit is exactly the same as the pictures in the web – new, clean, sunny and spacious. My girls each occupied a sofa bed and the master room is big. The kitchen and the washer machine are very functional. The location of the unit can not be better – just one short bridge from the famous Zattere. The street leading to the Apartment is quiet and clean. The hallway inside the Apartment unit is super clean. Although the view to the water has been blocked by the big ship station building, the view to the sky is abundant. In all, we are very happy with our stay and will definitely stay at Brittany’s unit if revisiting Venice.

In a nice area (without tourists:) near to the sea and with nice restaurants, you find this calm apartement and a also a flat next to it with a good kitchen and everything you need, to stay in Venice. The description is accurate and its clean and well prepared and the owner and their assistant are very kind and helpfull for every question! And they also give a special list with good restaurants - we tried some and it was marvellous. Thank you for the kindness :)

My partner and I stayed in Sunny San Basilio for 4 days about 8 weeks ago. The pictures are a bit misleading because when looking out the windows you see the port of Venice, not the most attractive site. The location is a bit off the beaten track which is kind of nice, but it is true that gypsies show up on the bench outside the window daily, as do the African phony bag sellers and boisterous crew members who are off for the day drinking beer until 9pm when they returned to their ship. They are harmless and there is nothing to fear. The apartment was nice, but we had a disappointing experience with Brittany. I carelessly left some nice articles of clothing, 2 new sweaters and pants, in a drawer and although we contacted her more than 8 times, and she promised to send them, she has completely ignored our emails and hasn't done so. We are very disappointed and cannot understand why she doesn't respond in any way even though we offered to pay for shipping. This has put a damper on the whole experience and it seems to me is extremely poor business. We would look next time for a place with a better view and more accomodating host.

Just returned from a long stay at this apt in Venice. The place is definitely sunny as advertised, and fairly well located. But the TV didn't work throughout our stay despite our report of the problem & the wifi coverage was spotty. The local atmosphere includes a series of bench squatters outside the apt window which can become annoying if you like the windows open. Don't plan on a pre-dawn early morning airport transfer because there's no apparent taxi stand or means of transport. The owner/manager had a baby during our stay, so she was not readily available to address the issues we encountered & emailed her about. Renters will need to be resourceful & come equipped with a cell phone to supplement the detailed info guide at the apartment. Overall it was a great stay with these caveats.
Owner response:In the apartment we do have a booklet with all information that one may need, including my contact information along with my assistants contact info. The television in the apartment does work, I understand that it can seem difficult as there are two remotes but there are detailed directions in my booklet. We did come twice to this guest how it works and the third time I found the cable unplugged on the back of the t.v.). The taxi does pickup and drop off nearby (there isn't an official TAXI sign or stand). The taxi numbers are in my booklet but I am also happy to help. I arranged for this taxi pick up from the hospital but then had to cancel as the guest had preferred another method of transportation. I am happy to hear that overall my guest had a great time! Late posting but we stayed in this apt. in March, 2009 with our daughter for her MFA grad. present, her first trip to Europe. Brittany was very helpful and the apartment was as advertised. Very clean, very convenient, very quiet, and really a wonderful experience. Brittany was just a call way. We will definitely utilize this owner again, hopefully in the very near future.

It has been a real pleasure staying at the Zattere apartment. The property itself is extremely well maintained, everything has been renovated with style and nothing is missing for a comfortable stay. To the contrary of what one might think when looking at the position on the map, it is not remotely located at all - the vaporetto stop is really 2 minutes away and one can walk everywhere - not to mention that it's one of the few places in Venice directly reachable by land taxi. It is so relaxing to be able to sleep in silence -away from the screaming hordes and vaporetti engines- at night and a real joy waking up with sunshine on your face in the morning. The owner is a wonderful hostess, absolutely adorable and helpful beyond description - a real gem. Thank you, Brittany, for this lovely Carnevale weekend. We'll be back soon!

Superb, large, modern, spotless apartment just a few steps from the grocery store, the Basilio Vaporetto stop, and several restaurants, but still a quiet area. Nice bathroom with stand up, glass door shower. Huge, powerful kitchen A/C unit. A small microwave and a drip coffee pot would have made this apartment just perfect. (It did have an Italian brewing pot). We would stay here again without any regrets, especially with the timely email contact with the owner, and phone contacts.
