Location: Canyon Lake, Hill Country, Texas, USA (San Antonio- 35 min, New Braunfels- 15 min., Austin - 55 min)
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3.5+ Baths (Sleeps 12)
As soon as you turn into the driveway, you’ll understand where Grandview Lakehouse gets its name. Views! Views! Views! Every single bedroom and common room in this 3400 sq. ft. house has views of the clear blue waters of Canyon Lake. Located in the exclusive Village West sub-division on two and a half lots, this quiet family neighborhood would be perfect for your family vacation or reunion.
But it doesn’t stop there. We believe lake house means a house ON the lake. Head down the sidewalk to 200 feet of your own private lakefront. Swim out to the raft, take out the Nu Canoe, the kayak or just hang out on the shaded deck by the lake and take in the quiet waters of our deep blue cove.
Jump in your boat (bring your own and anchor it in the cove, or rent one by the hour) and head out to the big water to tube, ski, wakeboard or fish for the “big ones”. There’s easy access to great fishing all around the cove and beyond. Head out early and see if you can beat Bonnie’s record 24” striped bass.
The main living area of this clean newly renovated three story house has a giant 20’ x 40’ living room with two large sitting areas, a fully loaded kitchen, breakfast area, powder room, dining room (with a table that seats 12 or more) and the master bedroom in the back down a private hall. The light, airy master bedroom has a European style king size bed (two XL twins), a TV and two large closets.
The next floor down has two bedrooms (the Blue Room with 2 XL twins and the Green Room with regular twins), a loft/TV area with a full futon, the utility room and a full bath. The bottom floor has a bedroom with a queen bed, a full bath and a large sitting/TV area with a queen futon.
In the summer take the kids to Schlitterbahn (15 minutes), tubing on the “horseshoe” (just a few miles away), or the “shoot” at Landa Park. Head into Gruene hall and go to a REAL Texas dance-hall, San Antonio to the River Walk and great Mexican food or to Austin, Music City U.S.A. Or, just drive around and discover the charm of all the small Texas towns in the area; Fredericksburg, Boerne (our favorite), Blanco, Bandera and more.
After dinner, gather around the piano or pull out the games. Cranium, Hand and Foot and Skip Bo are the house favorites right now. Better yet, send the kids downstairs to watch a movie while you relax out on the deck and count shooting stars in the big Hill Country sky.
Off Season Activities:
Canyon Lake is a wonderful place to be when the weather is cool. Below are some of our favorite cool weather activities:
. Get up and take a run (OR walk) across the dam, pick up some Migas Tacos and enjoy on the deck knowing you’ve earned every bite.
. Take the Canyon Lake Gorge tour - This is an INCREDIBLE experience, NOT to be missed but you need to do it while it’s COOL!
. Go Kayaking around Turkey Cove in our NuCanoe. It’s VERY stable so you stay dry which is important when it’s cool.
. Kayak the Guadalupe River, rentals are only 3 miles away.
. Visit the outdoor Benini Sculpture Ranch in Johnson City.
. Lay on the deck in the Zero Gravity chairs listening to your favorite music (OR football game) while watching the stars.
. Hike the Nature Trail along the Guadalupe below the dam
. Take the scenic drive to Lost Maples State Park and enjoy the beautiful, colorful, varieties of prairie grasses along the way.
. Take a NAP!!! (Frank prefers the blue couch; I like the deck.)
. Drive to Borne & eat lunch at the Limestone Grill then walk around town afterwards picking up some unique gifts.
. Get some live minnows and catch a Guadalupe Bass
. Go out to dinner (I’ll give you a list of our favorites) or cook up a steak on the grill. For dessert have Jeanette bring you over one of her famous Chocolate Meringue Pies. It’s the best thing you’ll put in your mouth for a long time!
. What ever you do, be home in time to have a glass of Pinot on the deck as you watch the lights change across the water at sunset.

We do not have enough adjectives to describe our vacation in your beautiful home. the most profound thing I can tell you is this: we have stayed in beautiful beach homes, mountain chalets in TN. and various condos, and this is the first time the kids have asked us to buy THIS house and move to the hill country. It took alot to leave the house and visit all the sights we had planned. My family did want me to tell you that the internet site does not do your lovely home justice. Also, we did not get to zipline in Weimer, but we did at the caverns. It was also our first crack at recycling. The only item we brought home that we don't recognize is a blue water jug, sorry. I will probably write more later because we just can't stop talking about your paradise

We--as a family of 10-have never spent a more relaxing and fun weekend at a lake house. The house itself has every convenience. The porch outside was lovely and we delighted in the view and the cool breeze. I would recommend this lovely place for a large or small family to enjoy a week or a weekend together and come home with a new lease on life.
