This was a great little house/cottage. It opens out to a nice deck overlooking a field and woods. Everything was very thoughtfully appointed - from there being dry firewood and kindling left out to kitchen supplies to a washer/dryer in the unit. The area is great for hiking. Irene was very helpful and friendly. All in all, a very nice place. Would recommend to others and hope to return before too long.

We found the cottage truly enchanting and welcoming. From the wood burning fireplace to the cozy brass bed, this cottage made us feel relaxed and at home instantly. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 night (6-days). The cottage is very clean and very well maintained. Everything we needed was available to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner due to the well stocked/supplied kitchen with appliances and cooking utensils. If your looking for peaceful days and dead quite morning/nights to rest/relax, then this is your place. There is a neighboring house to the left, which is in close proximity to the cottage, and a trail head that runs in offset far front of the cottage. However these were non-issues. Almost every window in the cottage faces directions in which there is nothing but beautiful sky/field views. The trail see's very little traffic, the occasional couple or person walking there dog and they are all locals, also you are set back behind a line of trees so your privacy is not in jeopardy (even more so in spring/summer with the leaves on the trees) The fireplace is wonderful and in great condition to have those nice hot winter fires. All the appliance from the TV to washer/dryer are new and in fantastic condition. The sofa is soft and relaxing and the bed is firm and comfortable with crisp clean white sheets. So, if your looking for a wonderful cottage that is not to big or too small with great views, loads of character/charm, very quiet and peaceful, great amenities and about 15mins from almost anything you need(food/wine..etc) -- this is your place to stay. We had a fantastic time and are well rested from this retreat! Would absolutely stay again and recommend to others.

We stayed at the cottage for a few days in October of 2011 - it was very peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. So well stocked that I literally put half the items I brought with me back in the car. I especially liked the back porch that overlooked the meadow, and the 'rail trail' which is a walking path at the end of the road. This was one of the best properties by far that I have ever rented. I wish I had more time there than just a few days. I hope to come back next time for a full week. We loved it, and it is perfect for a romantic get away with your significant other.

This is the first time I've ever been reluctant to give a rave review because I DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS AMAZING HOUSE!!!! But alas, it's true. I'm a general contractor from NYC, (and formerly in the hospitality biz) and I was amazed at the care and detail that went into this little oasis. Peaceful, beautiful, restful, everything you could possibly need and more, with a gracious, helpful and way-informative host. Can't wait to return in the Fall. Thank you for your fine achievement in this little cottage!

My wife and I loved this cottage in the Catskills. It was very clean, fully equipped with everything we needed. From the wood burning fireplace to the kitchen that had every thing needed to do whatever cooking we desired to the bathroom stocked with soap, shampoo, and plenty of towels. Even a washer and dryer! Very comfortable place in the funky little town of Kerhonkson. Try it. You'll not be disappointed.

This cottage is one of the best places my husband and I have stayed in for peace and quiet. I keep returning every year sometimes twice a year and enjoy it just as much each time. This is the place for relaxation and romantic getaways. You feel at home.

We were sorely dissapionted when we had to leave and head back to the hussle and bustle of the city. The cottage is a postcard, everything is perfect. I would recommend this place to friends but that would lessen our chances of being able to come back whenever we wanted. We are keeping this place secret and hope no one else finds it. Seriously, we left feeling refreshed and relaxed, a perfect long weekend spent in the perfect cottage.

Staying at Sky Island Cottage was one of the highlights of our month long trip to New York State and Vermont. Irene the owner had thought of everything even down to providing the kindling and logs for the fire - which we enjoyed on the cooler evenings. It is such a tranquil location that relaxing came easily. The crisp white bed linen and wonderful hotel standard towels were most welcome. The kitchen was so well equipped I am certain we could have lived there and wanted for nothing ! Leaving was very difficult and our other rental did not live up to Irene's standards she had set the bar so high ! Many trips were close by , The Catskills, the Hudson Valley with its mansions and West Point - the cottage was a great base.

We stayed here in July 2009 for our 10 year wedding anniversary. This little cottage is wonderful place to get away for a romantic weekend or to just get away from it all.. quiet, clean, comfortable and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. Absolutely would recommend to others. Secluded, but near hiking at Minnewaska, dinner at Mohonk Mountain house and New Paltz restaurants, near the shawgunk wine trail. Lovely, absolutely lovely.

We had the most wonderful weekend at Sky Island cottage. If we had dreamed up our ideal place for a romantic weekend getaway, it wouldn't have been as lovely. Irene, thanks for sharing your gorgeous cottage with us. We had everything we needed and then some. Best regards and thank you! Tara

This cabin is perfect for the couple looking for a romantic getaway. Perfectly appointed, my husband and I literally could not have asked for anything more. The decor was extremely tasteful, and we had absolutely everything we needed (and more). Rustic exposed beams, skylights, deck, and cozy fireplace made this midweek escape one of the best we've ever had. A large selection of books, DVDs, and brochures for all the local parks, restaurants, vineyards, museums, and villages ensured that we spent our time enjoyably. The bedroom was surprisingly spacious with a big comfortable bed, fine linen and bedspread, and perfectly furnished. The bathroom was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our dinner in the well-stocked kitchen with the local produce we picked up during the day, and also appreciated the wireless internet connection with helped us keep tabs on what was happening in the "real world". There was plenty of closet space for us to keep our things and even a washer and dryer. This cabin is truly perfect, and we plan on staying again.

The house is so lovely, it always feels like home when we get there. We are Dutch and have been in this cosy house many times already. The first time we felt so welcomed by Irene, the owner, and now every time we see each other the contact just is great. The character of her and her family is in and around the house!
