Log Cabin Getaway...Walk to the River, Spacious and Tranquil..
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Open for New yrs!- a group had to cancel--Experience a special log cabin home tucked away, yet close to everything! Travel 3 miles along scenic River Rd. on the Blanco River (from Wimberley Square), and you arrive at your new home. 1 mile to Old Glory Ranch. It's “Nouveau Rustique”, and has all the amenities you need (central air/heat, full kitchen, linens, 40' HDTV, DVD player, WIFI). Wimberley --voted one of the 'Best Top 10 small towns' in the US. A nice perk of this home is that we have DEEP WATER in the Blanco now- other areas are dried up during this drought, but our area has over 10' of water with a rope swing!! YEA!!
Enjoy a very peaceful setting with an area to make a campfire, grill a steak, and enjoy the wooded surroundings outside. A gas grill is also provided (for those who don't want to 'rough it'). We have a fenced backyard for pets to roam, too!
This log home has been completely renovated--you will be amazed at the interior. The kitchen is better than mine at home! The house is very roomy--1650 square feet--room for everyone! You can walk from the backyard only 200 yards to the Blanco River from the cabin.. It’s a very nice area to hike and walk along.
Stay put and relax, or venture out to enjoy wine tasting nearby, or Wimberley Square, with many Antique shops and cafe's surrounding Cypress Creek and the Blanco River. Visit a recreated 1800's town square(1 mile from cabin). 'Market Days' is held on the first Saturday of each month April-Dec (crafts/music/food). Blue Hole is nearby (Top ten Texas's best swimming holes). And, tubing down the Guadalupe in New Braunfels is very close by. If this is booked, or not what you are looking for, see my lakehouse and other properties on Carrie@BedandBreakfastabyCarrie. Its best to email me for questions or to book. I will have 2 other log homes in wimberley ready in July to sleep up to 14.

My family of 6 adults and an infant stayed here very comfortably. A/C worked great, the three bedrooms and two full baths were outstanding. The setting was awesome with very good access to the river. Would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

It was a very cute, quaint property that had easy access/trail to the river. The stay was enjoyable for us 4 ladies except for a few things; there were several lights that were out and we would have appreciated it if all lights were working instead of trying every switch in the house to accommodate cooking etc. Our check in was at 4pm, our experience is 3pm with most places which is a much better time than 4pm. We asked for early check in but they couldn't accommodate and check out was 11am. At 11:02 we had a maid knocking on our door reminding us that check out was now and there were other guests coming (which it's a 4pm check -in). We told her we were gathering our stuff to leave promptly and she told us she would wait in her car in front of the house. We found that a little rude and although we were 5 minutes from leaving, we felt rushed which ended our stay on our sour note.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay. The A/C kept us all comfortable and the three bedrooms and two full baths were very nice. The cabin’s layout works well for a large group. We stayed at this cabin for part of springbreak. It is a great place to getaway and relax. The cabin is very spacious and has a great layout. The outdoor area was also very nice. The little creek that runs along the side of the cabin is great for kids to explore or just to sit outside and listen to the water. The outdoor seating area is also fun for bbqing and roasting marshmallows. It is also very convenient to shopping in Wimberly and a grocery story. The week we were there, one of the ceiling fans/lights was out in the living room, so at night that side was pretty dark and the beds could be more comfortable. All easy fixes.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We stayed there for 4 nights in March. Had a great time in Austin, San Antonio and Fredericksburg on the way in. Closer by, we spent a day in Wimberley and of course had to make a trip to The Salt Lick. Cabin was very quiet, except for the trickle of the creek by the house. Walked to the river a couple times. Though it was cloudy and cool the whole time, a few of us braved it and got in for a swim once.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

Great place to retreat. Nicely furnished, clean and comfortable with all the amenities. We enjoy cooking and found everything we needed in order to do so. Has a very nice bbq which we used and enjoyed. We also loved that it had internet and cable access. Property is woodsy and quiet. We enjoyed the woodiness of the property and the wildlife during our stay. Our only negative comment would be that the house needs a larger, more updated television. It was hard to enjoy the movies that we had brought with us on the current t.v. with its small screen and poor sound. It may be that we are just spoiled from home, but a larger t.v. would have made our experience perfect. Also, the outdoor seating was nice, but as a suggestion to the owner, a table would also be nice to have. Since the weather was so nice while we were there we would have liked to sit outside for lunch and dinner especially when we were bbq-ing. We went into town several days as well as going to market days on first Saturday. The cabin is close and convenient to both. All in all a very positive experience. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin to others.Owner response: Thanks for info about the TV-- I just bought a new 40" HDTV for the house. Carrie, owner

Eight ladies in their mid-20s came here for an afternoon/evening of fun and swimming after a day of wine-tasting at a couple of the vineyards in Wimberley. The cabin itself is very spacious and clean. The living room layout was perfect for a large group of us to hang out and chat for hours. The kitchen was fully stocked -- we grilled fajitas for dinner and made breakfast tacos for breakfast -- and there were enough plates that we didn't have to run the dishwasher overnight. The beds were also very comfortable. We didn't try out the pull-out bed, because there was enough space between the two couches not to, but it was nice that we had the option. The creek by the house was dry, but there was plenty of water, at least 6 ft deep, in the river behind the house. We found it to be very serene and calm in the River Park. Carrie, the owner, is extremely prompt with her emails, which was very helpful because we happened to have a last-minute booking. We wished we could have stayed longer than just one night. I highly recommend this place!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

A group of 6 of us went to the hill country for a friend's wedding. Finding a comfortable place for 6 can be quite daunting, but we found it! The river at the community river park really had WATER in it, something so rare in our area right now, plenty for swimming, floating, kayaking, etc. There was a rope swing and a nice slab of rock to sit on. It wasn't very crowded and the people were very friendly. The cabin was perfect. We weren't there much, because we were off doing wedding things or at the river, but it was a perfect home base! We really enjoyed it. It's nice to know that even in this rough drought, there is a place we can still find water! It was amazing. The front and side yards weren't as nice as in the pictures, but we're in a bad drought in Central Texas, and for us, the appearance of the yard wasn't a problem. We were mostly at the river or chilling on the front porch. No fires due to the drought, oh and the heat! But the side yard did look like a nice area to have one. The creek by the house was dried up, just like everything else in Central Texas right now, but we used that dry creek bed as a route to the best part of our stay, SWIMMING in the deep Blanco River! Highlights: -kitchen is better than mine at home, so nice! -FULLY STOCKED, I was shocked to find that I really didn't NEED to bring anything. Unlike some of these reviews, I was overwhelmed at how well the place was stocked! People, you can drink wine out of regular glasses! ;) It might not always be as well stocked as it was when we stayed, but we had shampoo, conditioner, lotion, paper towels, foil, plenty of TP and towels...the list goes on! -living area was PERFECT for catching up with old friends, plenty of seating. -gas grill was very nice. -we loved the front porch with seating and ceiling fans! -Carrie was easy to communicate with, answered questions very quickly and she even called on the day we arrived to make sure everything was okay! -neighbors were nice, we passed the place at first, and a neighbor directed us to "Carrie's place". -WIFI!!! Really, this meant the world to us! -A/C worked great! -comfortable beds. -very clean and well maintained.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My family spent 3 nights here at the end of July. Front porch was nice even in the heat with the fans on. The house was clean, well maintained and the beds were comfy. Loved the upstairs shower and thought getting in and out of the downtown tub after showering was kind of scary. The kitchen could be better equipped with a baking sheet and more than 2 wine glasses. We used the private access to the Blanco River one day. Another day we went to the River Ranch Resort and paid the $5 parking fee to access the river there. Water was deeper and more fun to float on. Wimberly Market Days was fun albeit overwhelming. I'd recommend this house and, based on Carrie's responsiveness and organization, I would use another of her houses.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Really enjoyed staying here and are already talking about going back. Very roomy and charming. I was head over heels for the log-cabin-meets-modern decor. Had a blast taking our pups out to the river to go swimming and the enclosed area out back allowed the pups to do a bit of their own exploring. The burn ban was on (terrible drought in Texas), but I hope that next time we will be able to take advantage of the fire pit. The wifi was great (essential for us wireheads) and the kitchen well stocked with dishes and the like. Saw LOTS of deer on our little walks through the neighborhood, even some adorable babies. Highly recommended to anyone with well-mannered crate-trained pups. It was nice to finally have a vacation that included ours, without sacrificing what WE wanted :)Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

About the owner: I have a vacation rental business with properties in Austin, Wimberley, and New Orleans. Vacation is a very important part of life, and I love being a part of this industry. I have been in real estate investing for 12 years, and am also a Realtor; I like to provide what people want and need for a rental, as I do when I go on vacation. I will never stay in a hotel again!! Homes are MUCH nicer!!
Why the Owner Chose Wimberley:
Wimberley is special- it's very quaint, with creeks and the Blanco River running through it. I have always wanted a log home, and this one was perfect- the property is very cute with rock everywhere and woods on one side.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This area has DEEP WATER on the Blanco-- an important part of the experience..only a 200yd walk through the backyard to get to it. Antique shops are very close by-tons of them!! River road is very beautiful, and is a 3 mile drive along the river to get to my house. It's so quiet there!! Easy to chill out, make a fire outside, and RELAX!!!
