Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay. The A/C kept us all comfortable and the three bedrooms and two full baths were very nice. The cabin’s layout works well for a large group. The setting was great with good access to the river. I highly recommend staying here; we will be back.

We stayed there for 4 nights in March. Had a great time in Austin, San Antonio and Fredericksburg on the way in. Closer by, we spent a day in Wimberley and of course had to make a trip to The Salt Lick. Cabin was very quiet, except for the trickle of the creek by the house. Walked to the river a couple times. Though it was cloudy and cool the whole time, a few of us braved it and got in for a swim once.

We stayed at this cabin for part of springbreak. It is a great place to getaway and relax. The cabin is very spacious and has a great layout. The outdoor area was also very nice. The little creek that runs along the side of the cabin is great for kids to explore or just to sit outside and listen to the water. The outdoor seating area is also fun for bbqing and roasting marshmallows. It is also very convenient to shopping in Wimberly and a grocery story. The week we were there, one of the ceiling fans/lights was out in the living room, so at night that side was pretty dark and the beds could be more comfortable. All easy fixes.

Great place to retreat. Nicely furnished, clean and comfortable with all the amenities. We enjoy cooking and found everything we needed in order to do so. Has a very nice bbq which we used and enjoyed. We also loved that it had internet and cable access. Property is woodsy and quiet. We enjoyed the woodiness of the property and the wildlife during our stay. Our only negative comment would be that the house needs a larger, more updated television. It was hard to enjoy the movies that we had brought with us on the current t.v. with its small screen and poor sound. It may be that we are just spoiled from home, but a larger t.v. would have made our experience perfect. Also, the outdoor seating was nice, but as a suggestion to the owner, a table would also be nice to have. Since the weather was so nice while we were there we would have liked to sit outside for lunch and dinner especially when we were bbq-ing. We went into town several days as well as going to market days on first Saturday. The cabin is close and convenient to both. All in all a very positive experience. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin to others.
Owner response:Thanks for info about the TV-- I just bought a new 40" HDTV for the house. Carrie, owner

Eight ladies in their mid-20s came here for an afternoon/evening of fun and swimming after a day of wine-tasting at a couple of the vineyards in Wimberley. The cabin itself is very spacious and clean. The living room layout was perfect for a large group of us to hang out and chat for hours. The kitchen was fully stocked -- we grilled fajitas for dinner and made breakfast tacos for breakfast -- and there were enough plates that we didn't have to run the dishwasher overnight. The beds were also very comfortable. We didn't try out the pull-out bed, because there was enough space between the two couches not to, but it was nice that we had the option. The creek by the house was dry, but there was plenty of water, at least 6 ft deep, in the river behind the house. We found it to be very serene and calm in the River Park. Carrie, the owner, is extremely prompt with her emails, which was very helpful because we happened to have a last-minute booking. We wished we could have stayed longer than just one night. I highly recommend this place!

A group of 6 of us went to the hill country for a friend's wedding. Finding a comfortable place for 6 can be quite daunting, but we found it! The river at the community river park really had WATER in it, something so rare in our area right now, plenty for swimming, floating, kayaking, etc. There was a rope swing and a nice slab of rock to sit on. It wasn't very crowded and the people were very friendly. The cabin was perfect. We weren't there much, because we were off doing wedding things or at the river, but it was a perfect home base! We really enjoyed it. It's nice to know that even in this rough drought, there is a place we can still find water! It was amazing. The front and side yards weren't as nice as in the pictures, but we're in a bad drought in Central Texas, and for us, the appearance of the yard wasn't a problem. We were mostly at the river or chilling on the front porch. No fires due to the drought, oh and the heat! But the side yard did look like a nice area to have one. The creek by the house was dried up, just like everything else in Central Texas right now, but we used that dry creek bed as a route to the best part of our stay, SWIMMING in the deep Blanco River! Highlights: -kitchen is better than mine at home, so nice! -FULLY STOCKED, I was shocked to find that I really didn't NEED to bring anything. Unlike some of these reviews, I was overwhelmed at how well the place was stocked! People, you can drink wine out of regular glasses! ;) It might not always be as well stocked as it was when we stayed, but we had shampoo, conditioner, lotion, paper towels, foil, plenty of TP and towels...the list goes on! -living area was PERFECT for catching up with old friends, plenty of seating. -gas grill was very nice. -we loved the front porch with seating and ceiling fans! -Carrie was easy to communicate with, answered questions very quickly and she even called on the day we arrived to make sure everything was okay! -neighbors were nice, we passed the place at first, and a neighbor directed us to "Carrie's place". -WIFI!!! Really, this meant the world to us! -A/C worked great! -comfortable beds. -very clean and well maintained.

My family spent 3 nights here at the end of July. Front porch was nice even in the heat with the fans on. The house was clean, well maintained and the beds were comfy. Loved the upstairs shower and thought getting in and out of the downtown tub after showering was kind of scary. The kitchen could be better equipped with a baking sheet and more than 2 wine glasses. We used the private access to the Blanco River one day. Another day we went to the River Ranch Resort and paid the $5 parking fee to access the river there. Water was deeper and more fun to float on. Wimberly Market Days was fun albeit overwhelming. I'd recommend this house and, based on Carrie's responsiveness and organization, I would use another of her houses.

Really enjoyed staying here and are already talking about going back. Very roomy and charming. I was head over heels for the log-cabin-meets-modern decor. Had a blast taking our pups out to the river to go swimming and the enclosed area out back allowed the pups to do a bit of their own exploring. The burn ban was on (terrible drought in Texas), but I hope that next time we will be able to take advantage of the fire pit. The wifi was great (essential for us wireheads) and the kitchen well stocked with dishes and the like. Saw LOTS of deer on our little walks through the neighborhood, even some adorable babies. Highly recommended to anyone with well-mannered crate-trained pups. It was nice to finally have a vacation that included ours, without sacrificing what WE wanted :)

What a great place! Newly updated baths and kitchen; very comfortable beds; large firepit with room for all around; all working appliances and CLEAN!! River is great and accessible. Carrie was so timely answering emails and refreshing to deal with. Went to New Braunfels, Gruene and back to Wimberly in an easy day - so very much for all ages to do and the beauty of the countryside takes you far out of the city. Definitely would lease again.

We had a great family/girls weekend at the cabin. Everything was great. It is a charming cabin in a charming area of Texas The listing was true to the pictures. We had a kind of rainy time, but there is still so much to do in the area as far as shopping, dining. People in Wimberley were great. Carrie was great to rent from. She e-mails you back and communicates to what ever questions you have or concerns. Thanks Carrie, I would rent from you again in a minute!

This log cabin was perfect for our family! Plenty of sleeping space and fully functional kitchen, baths, and washer/dryer. The water park is only a short walk and we loved having a campfire in the back yard. A creek on the side of the house enticed a family of deer to visit us at dawn and dusk. Most importantly to my husband, the air conditioning worked great! Definitely would recommend this property. On a side note - we did the zipline adventure in town and loved it!

We had a lovely visit at the Log Cabin.... easy drive to the "rapids" at the cross bridge. Did not use the river park....did not want to climb over the gate as the key to the lock was not available. House was very comfortable and clean. Beds were exceptionally comfortable and the baths were modern and very, very clean. Plan to go back next year for an entire week so that we can take advantage of the surrounding things to visit. This time we wanted to spend time with each other and enjoy the river. Much to see in the area and look forward to some shopping. Only downside is the yard is not as clean and pretty as the picture. Grown up and needs attention. But do not let that stop you...... inside is worth the immediate disappointment of the exterior. The sounds of nature are very pleasing to the ear and the deer were just across the street and all along the river road...... WOW!! All in all a wonderful four days.

We expected more after reading the reviews and seeing the fotos. We were a little disappointed of the setting of this cabin. The back-yard was in bad shape as pointed out in a previous review - the kids had no place to play outside. The fenced in backyard is not fenced with a wooden fence it is just some wire-"construction", which you could easily bend down. We were 8 people and there were only 6 chairs at the dinner table. Also the kitchen was very poorly equipped - compared to other VRBO Rentals we stayed at. A mix of all kinds of different (sometimes not very clean looking glasses and plates - 2 wine glasses !!!). The fridge was not clean upon arrival. The down-stairs bath-room was not very convenient (small shower/bath-tub combination. I would not rent this house with more than 6 people. The river is close after you cross a street and climb over a gate. The water access is nice, but there were a lot of dogs off leashes in the water. We are dog-lovers and keep ours on a leash and it got to the point where we did not want to bring him along to the river. Wimberley is a neat town and Shopping is fun.

awesome place, very quaint on the inside and the upstairs bathroom is really cool. the nearby river is great to visit, and there is a lot to do in the hill country. the only tiny problem was the side yard double doors have a small gap in the bottom, and don't close all the way, bugs would come in through it. overall, though, a great place to stay if you have a bunch of people.

We just loved this place! Everything about it was absolutely wonderful. All the decorative touches were perfect and lovely! This is great for a large family or for several friends to enjoy! The 3 bedrooms were all comfortable and so pretty! We had a great time and my 3 teens and a pre-teen loved the river and we spent lots of time just hanging around the place! I'd love to plan a girls weekend sometime and I'd definately rent the same place!!! We were all impressed!

The cabin is charming, lovely and inviting. Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) were very comfortable. The children splashed in the river accompanied by a friendly neighboring collie named Cree. Cree would catch the rope swing in his mouth and swing out away from the bank and let go into the river. He never tired of that activity. We enjoyed cooking on the grill, relaxing, and having a comfortable haven to come back to between activities such as shopping at market days, "toobing the Comal in Gruene".

July 18-22, 2009. We hated to leave. There were 3 adults and 3 children and we had a wonderful time. The house (cabin) is so nice and we felt like we were in another world. The kids of course enjoyed being close to the river. We all enjoyed being able to be outside although it was very hot. I would stay here again if I have the opportunity.

WE had an enjoyable week in the cabin this Christmas. We all took turns cooking (4 adult couples) and loved the pass through from the kitchen to the den. Everyone could still visit and didn;t fell left out. Great cabin, nice central location in the hill country. Go to the river to feed the geese & ducks, that was entertaining!

We had a great, relaxing time. The cabin is very nice. Both nights there we were greeted by several deer. The town is great too, everyone was very nice and we all enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the dog friendly cabin so we could let Bella roam in the fenced yard. We will go back. Matt, Kelli, and Bella.

Not enough words to describe the great time we had staying at this beautiful log cabin! What a treat for us desert dwellers from West Texas to get to enjoy the beautiful Hill Country in such a peaceful setting. Our son proclaimed the upstairs bathroom as the neatest bathroom he had ever seen and we all agreed!

Very versatile -- 1st stay had 5 couples overnight, 2nd time 2 couples. Both worked out very well. Nice having access to the beautiful river. Cute town square. Enjoyed the deer wandering the adjacent properties. I'm not into campfires, but the rest of the group really enjoyed sitting around the big fire.
