Our Kapoho Beach house is located in a gated Oceanside community on the Hilo side of the "Big Island" of Hawaii, which provides some of Hawaii's most desirable weather. The famous Champagne Pond, noted for its beautiful coral and colorful tropical fish, is a mere 2 minutes walk from the house. Swim, snorkel or just relax in the warm emerald water. Black sand beaches, surfing and fishing are close as well.

This big house with tons of beds and windows is really comfortable. The deck has a constant wonderful breeze that continues through the house.. I spent half my time out there. It is a short walk to the warm ponds and warm beaches. In a gated communnity this is a very protected and quiet neighborhood. It is very quiet at night for sleeping. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would come back again. Even though there are next door neighbors you still have your privacy. Only draw backs were there is no washer and dryer and the main deck does not face the ocean. Still very pleasant....
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had the most wonderful family reunion at this delightful house over Christmas and New Year's. There were 9 of us: 6 adults and 3 children under age 9. We all were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The ocean-view lanai is a delight, even during rain storms, and the children liked to play there by themselves while the adults talked nearby. All three of the children learned how to snorkel in the magic Champagne Pool. Nobody gets cold in the slightly warm water that really bubbles like champagne. My oldest grandson saw 4 turtles swim with him. After that, we had a hard time getting him into the car for other adventures. Viewing the hot lava flow into the ocean was awe inspiring. And the trip there took only about 30 minutes from our rental place. The house is in a gated community, so we felt totally safe in our peaceful and quiet surroundings. We were especially grateful that the owner's sister who lives close-by was able to stock the huge refrigerator from our huge shopping list since the stores wouldn't have been open on Christmas day. The house is cozy and well supplied with everything we needed and wanted, even body-surfing boards which the kids loved. We will all remember this reunion fondly. My daughter said: "Mom--it was perfect".

Have a wonderful time here. I enjoy sitting on the lanai watching the wave while sipping my coffee. Also sipping wine in the Champagne pond at night and watching the stars is very soothing.
