The name of your rental should be changed from "Great Escape" to "Fantastic Escape" because it was definitely better than great! Wonderfully located, easy walking distance to town and the beach. Very well stocked home for grown ups and our little ones (including the dog). We can't wait to go back!

As part of a vacation from England we were looking for a location on the Oregon Coast during our visit to family in Portland. What a gem we managed to find! The Great Escape provides firs class accommodation in a wonderful location. It is comfortable and welcoming and very well equipped with everything you will need. It is spotlessly clean and all items provided are very good quality. We would wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation to anyone who is looking for excellent quality. The property is very child friendly as proved by the fact that our grandson did not want to leave! We found Sandie and Bob to be most helpful will all of our planning needs.

Driving up from Canada, I was a bit apprehensive. We've experienced other rental properties with varying degrees of cleanliness and comfort. This property does not disappoint. It was scrupulously clean, and was stocked with everything imaginable. Lots of games, videos, books, and the covered child's wagon was perfect for our two year old. Beds were comfortable with lots of extra pillows and linens. We found the walk to town and beach both shorter than expected and enjoyed strolling to look for the elk herd and rabbits. I would absolutely recommend this home to anyone.

We spent our 2011 Christmas here with two daughters and son-in-law. Upon entering, we were greeted with lovely Christmas decorations, including a tree, Christmas DVD's on display, little chocolates with notes to help yourselves, much to everyone's delight. This home is all about cozy comforts: instant click and you have a fire going in the fireplace, comfy wrap around sofa, large screen TV, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, excellent showers and individually regulated heaters for each room. It is within easy walking distance of the Cannon Beach shops and only two blocks from the beach. Although we had no young children, this was a very child friendly place. Safety latches on all cupboards and covers on all electrical outlets. We could have used a few more serving dishes but we realize most vacationers aren't cooking a major Christmas dinner. All agreed it got an A+!

What a wonderful experience for our family! We enjoyed a very comfortable home with the beach just up the street! We loved having a view of the whole Haystack Rock area, but with a nearly private beach area for ourselves! Great quiet neighborhood just over the bridge within walking distance from town. Owners thought of everything to make us feel at home. Very comfortably furnished, and even a wagon and sand buckets for the kids and a private backyard, where we built a fire, swung the little ones in the hammock, and watched the squirrel watch us! LOVED the little bunnies all over the neighborhood, and we took a drive around the corner into Ecola State Park to watch the surfers at Indian Beach, which was well worth the $5! Thanks for making your home a terrific getaway! Can't wait to visit again!

There's something about The Great Escape that keeps us going back. Let's see: near perfection? The home is comfortably appointed with everything you need, and then some. Sandie has thought of everything, and then some. The area offers a wide variety of outdoor pursuits, and then some. The kindly neighbors offered us our first smoked mussels, which our young grandson loved. Everything came together again, and then some!! We've stayed at the Great Escape in the months of January, June and August. Each stay was memorable and none had negatives. You will love this property and its thoughtful owner, Sandie Jensen.

This was by far the nicest homes we have rented in Cannon Beach. You name it, it had it. We got great use out of the Radio Flyer wagon. The beach is super close and area its in is very quiet. Once we parked we didnt move the car until we left. The home is very spacious and comfy. It slept the 6 of us very well. We look forward to many more stays.
Owner response:Thank you Aly, We're so happy to hear you had such a good time and enjoyed our home that you're coming back in 2012 for a full week. This makes us feel good about sharing our home.

If you are looking for a comfortable, adorable beach house within easy walking distance of the ocean, this is it. It is in a very quiet neighborhood 5 minutes' drive from town. The owners have thought of everything to make sure you are comfortable and feel welcome. The property is well-maintained and the back yard is even nicer than the photo. The owner communicated well and was very helpful and friendly. She even sent me mapquest directions from my house to the beach house. I would recommmend this property to anyone and look forward to returning soon.

This was our 2nd stay at the great escape in cannon beach and it really is the perfect vacation house for a small family. We took our 2 year old daugther along with our dog and the house is a perfect match for us. It is very close to the beach and came equipped with a radio flyer wagon that our daughter loved being pulled in for the short walk to the beach. The particular stretch of beach that this house sits on is much prettier and more private than the main town beach in Cannon Beach. It reminds me of Indian Beach in Ecola State Park with similar rocky cliffs that form a private cove at the end of the stretch of beach. Absolutely beautiful. The house is tastefully decorated and there isn't one little detail that goes unnoticed including detailed instructions on how to operate the TV, etc. The house's location is very close to downtown and definitley walkable. We are already looking forward to our next getaway to the great escape at Cannon Beach

The great escape was great i would recomend this place to everyone. The location was awsome so many things to do just minutes away from the house weather walking or riding your bike or even driveing. The house had everything possible needed to weather it was a screw driver or a fire pit it had it all everything was very well labeled if you did not know where or how to use it i felt like i was at home. What a great place to stay thank you.

We had a wonderful time at the "Great Escape". Very comfortable and homie. Sandie has truly thought of everything! We didnt even need to bring the Q-tips. And one block to the beach was great. The house is at the north end of town so it's a little quieter than where we've stayed before but very enjoyable. We will definitely be going back!

A wonderful home at a great location!!! This by far was one of the most relaxing vacations my family and I have had in a long time. Our host thought of everything, beach chairs & towels, care items for our furry friends, marsh mellow roasters for the fire pit, including restaurant and activity recommendations! The home is located in an area that can't be beat!!! We walked to the beach and into town everyday. There is a park located close to this home, perfect for relieving our golden retriever, as well as playing a quick game of catch! The beach is a 3-5 minute walk from the home and the cute downtown area of Cannon Beach is about a 8-10 minute walk! The home is set up perfectly for families, and is immaculate and extremely comfortable. We will be back!!! Thank you Sandie, you are a wonderful host and have exceeded our expectations! As mentioned in earlier reviews, the photos don't do the home any justice. The Great Escape truly is the place to stay when it comes to lodging at Cannon Beach, you have to experience it to believe it! Complete bliss.
Owner response:What a wonderful review, it's makes us feel proud when our Guests enjoy their time in our home and in the Village of Cannon Beach. We look forward to your return visits, Thank You!!!

What an incredible vacation! The "Great Escape" has all of the amenities and extras that anyone could hope for. It is a well decorated, beautiful, incredibly clean home with a great kitchen, comfortable beds, fresh towels, great selection of DVD's if desired, beautiful fire-pit and barbecue and a great electric fireplace for cool nights. The house is just a block and a half away from the incredible beach where there are many bunnies living around the park to feed along the way. It is also a VERY walkable distance to town. My family loved it so much that we definitely plan on returning as soon as possible. One of the best vacation spots that we have ever visited-Thank you for the amazing experience!

I just returned from a girls' weekend with my mom and sister. The beach house is everything we hoped for and more! This lovely home is comfortable, well-laid out, and beautifully decorated. We felt like we were in the lap of luxury! Our only regret is that the weather was too rainy to enjoy the gorgeous back yard with its fire pit and seating area. It looks like we'll just have to come back! Thanks, Sandie, for sharing your wonderful home.

Three generations of mothers...myself, my mother, and my daughter with my grandson spent a wonderful Mother's Day weekend at the "Great Escape". We could not have chosen a more perfect place for us. Everything that we needed was provided. The house was very kid friendly for my 9 month old grandson. Our dog enjoyed having the backyard to explore. It was an easy walk into town each day. The bakery was WONDERFUL. We enjoyed coffee and a pastry there each day. We ordered takeout because it was much easier to eat in than to eat out with the baby. There is a nice selection of restaurants to chose from. We had great weather. The memories we made there will be with us forever.

We loved our stay at the Great Escape! We brought 4 kids and found the house very kid friendly. It was very clean and the owners even left bunny food so the kids could feed the rabbits. A short walk to the less populated beach gave our family some great time to ourselves. The 10 minute walk into town was easy to do with a stroller for the kids. And the large TV and online access to netflicks made for fun movie nights when it was raining. Overall, we would highly recommend this house and hope to come back soon!

We spent 4 days at The Great Escape last week and absolutely love our stay there. We've used VRBO at least 10 times over the past 4 years and this property was one of the most well organized and well appointed homes we've stayed at. It is truly ideal for a young family or a couple looking for a great beach getaway. The home is tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need (and clear instructions for everything!). The house is a short walk to both town and the beach but is also located on a very private street. The home is also ideal for dog owners as the entire front and back yard (very spacious) was enclosed and great for our bernese mtn dog. This will be our go to property for the coast whenever we want to get away. Why spend 300 dollars a night for the Lodge when you can get 3 times the space and nicer accomodations at this cozy and very private home??!!!

Don't let this diminutive looking house fool you; there's plenty of room for you and your dreams in The Great Escape! Your hostess, Sandie, has thought of everything. We arrived for a week-long stay during New Year's and were greeted with champagne and noisemakers on the dining room table. Now that's a thoughtful hostess! The kitchen is generously stocked with everything you need, the bedrooms are quite comfortable, the home is truly that - a home. The entire rental process went smoothly and Sandie was always responsive to communications. The area is incredible and your walks to the beach and downtown Cannon Beach are a simple stroll. Open the master bedroom window and you'll be lulled to sleep by the sound of the crashing waves. I'm relaxing already thinking about our return trip this summer. The Great Escape is a place to which you can return without repeating a single, delightful adventure. However, we plan on a few repeat delights! Enjoy your stay; we did!!
