AN OLD SAYING, NEVER STAY AT THE SAME PLACE TWICE, we will never stay here again, we found thing's that didn't work, washer, grill, internet, It just didnt seem very clean, durty windows and dust on the blinds, the furniture is old and not comfertable, and we found aint traps on the counter, aints crawling on the tabel and counter, KATE said thats because of the rain, spair bed rooms very small, beach area filled with concreat slabs for erosion, so dont plan on a beach. I dont recommend. J-- from columbia, sc.
Owner response:John R. had called me to inquire when I would be returning his security deposit. For the first time in all the time that we have rented our home, I advised John that I needed to have the carpets and furniture cleaned due to his smoking in our home (it was really awful) and that once I had the bill I would send him the difference. John informed me that while they had smoked in our house, they had brought sheets that they had used to cover the furniture so he was quite certain it did not smell. I advised John that while I had tried everything in my power to get rid of the smell - it smelled and that the carpet and furniture would need to be cleaned. I also explained to John that his smoking had caused me to call the folks who were scheduled to come the next day and to explain to them about the cigarette smell because it was not fair for them to have to stay in a house that smelled. They ended up not coming - because of John's smoking. John became very nasty and warned me that if I kept his security deposit he would give me a review that I would always remember - that "he would show me who I was dealing with." I have to be honest, this entire process has left me very sad. It should also be noted that I had spoken to John's daughter during the week - she had called to find out how to sign on to the internet - and I specifically asked her how things were going - because it was important that they have a nice time. She indicated that everything was lovely and she thanked me. kate

What a great time we had, and what a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommended, and will definitely come back again. Had some nice, cozy fires in the fireplace, enjoyed the scenery over the lake, and really enjoyed the enclosed porch with a nice view of the lake, and even some freighters. Saw an eagle one morning. The master bedroom is absolutely gorgeous, and the kitchen is loaded with everything you might need. A large TV, great WiFi, and plenty of board games and books kept us happily occupied. The owners, Kate and Don, are most gracious and helpful, and the neighbors on both sides are just as nice. We certainly appreciated being able to bring our small dog along, and she enjoyed it as well as we did. The Vermillion Farm Market nearby, has some really nice meat and unusual items. A nice place to get your groceries. The neighborhood store has beer at much cheaper prices than Michigan, and the staff and owner are very cordial. A lot of nice restaurants nearby. We had a great time !

This house accedes all expectations. It is full of character and warmth with absolutely everything provided and more. WIFI worked beautifully for us which often has been an issue for us in other areas. Kate has thought of everything you might possibly need or want, including reading materials and all kinds of board games, etc.. We loved the peacefulness of this setting...the beautiful view of Lake Erie. I do not believe you could possibly be disappointed. We can't wait to visit again! Thank you to both Kate and Don for graciously allowing us the opportunity to spend a much needed and relaxing few days in your delightful home.

We spent 4 days at the home and had a wonderful visit. Getting away to quilt, to shop for more fabric and try some new restaurants were on our agenda and every activity was possible. The home is very inviting and we enjoyed the sunporch for seeing the lake as the weather was not the best. We appreciated the breakfast foods that were left for us. The three of us agreed that we would enjoy quilting on the lake shore again.

We spent a (mostly) rainy weekend and despite the weather we had a great time. The house is ever so comfortable with all you need - from the kitchen to the stack of games and magazines. The backyard is set up for watching sunsets and just kicking back. The description truly does not do this place justice - it is so much more. We were in town for a function at Oberlin but would love to come back and take in more of Vermillion - it looks like it would be a lot of fun to explore. (but I could also just come back to sit in the backyard and enjoy the view) My husband and I highly recommend this rental.

My family and I had a very nice time in this property this week; the owners were very accommodating, providing assorted breakfast foods and a highchair for our child. While the weather wasn't great, it was pretty normal for Ohio in early April. We did have one nice day, when we were able to enjoy the lake sunset, which was beautiful. And on the other days, there was plenty to do to keep us busy and allow us to spend time together, whether it was just hanging out at "home," heading to Kalahari's indoor waterpark, or taking in the IX indoor amusement park. We did even venture out to Kelley's Island via the ferry, though this would have been more fun on a sunnier/warmer day!! All in all, the cottage was very nice, met all our needs, and was as described. Thanks to Don and Kate! We look forward to enjoying the property again someday during a warmer season!

My husband and I enjoyed 2 lovely nights at this cottage in late October. The amenities were perfect for our needs and the location overlooking the lake was gorgeous. We're thinking of making another trip from Columbus this spring.

My husband and I spent a week at the Fenners' cottage in September. Kate paid close attention to providing amenities that made our trip very pleasant...breakfast goodies, plush towels and bed linens, a mini-library of games, puzzles, and reading materials, flat-screen TV's, and even Wi-Fi. The cottage is located in a quiet area with great lake views from the master BR, sunporch, and backyard. The downtown section of Vermilion is quaint with a picturesque harbor. It is located about mid-way between Cleveland and the Lake Erie islands, so sight-seeing travel is easy along the lakeshore. This was our first trip to the northern Ohio/Lake Erie area, and, thanks to the Fenners, we will always remember our visit as a really good week!

Kate and family did everything to make our stay an excellent experience. We arrived on a Saturday and found everything we needed for Sunday breakfast in the cottage. The house is beautiful and clean, and our miniature schnauzer was very content in the backyard, although he refrained from jumping into the lake with our 11 year old. We'll be back!

We found this home to be as advertised. It is very clean, comfortable, well furnished and well maintained. It is in a very quiet and relaxing setting. It has a great view of the lake from the backyard. The Fenners (owners) were very accomodating to our last minute plans. We would definitely stay there again.

Debbie (from Northwest Ohio) We had such a wonderful weekend at this lovely little lake house! Even though the weather wasn't perfect, the visit was. The view of the lake is awesome and the house is totally inviting. The walls seemed to speak their own language of welcome when we walked in. Also, we were blown away by the fact that breakfast items were left for us in the refrigerator. That was so thoughtful. The house is very sweetly decorated and so comfortable. We had enough sunshine to sit outside for an hour on Fri. and Sat. evenings to hear the waves lapping up onto the shore, but when it was too cool, sitting on the charming porch was the closest thing to being outside. It was a wonderful way to relax and sooth the soul! We will be back!

We stayed at this home in June and then again in October. We got to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets during both the warm summer days and again with the crisp air and changing leaves of autumn. The cottage is beautiful and cozy with an amazing master suite. The firepit surrounded by comfortable seating and a specatular view are exceptional. The Fenners are incredible hosts who have provided more amenities than you'd find in a 5 star hotel but with the benefit of privacy. They truly care about your experience and go above and beyond to ensure your expectations are met. The combination of this beautiful lakefront location and fantastic hosts makes this a must-stay get away experience.

Our family just arrived home today after a week of renting the entire house. Whoa!!!! We have had a ball. We really loved the view of the lake from the backyard. Had fires going in the fire pit everyday. Outdoor dining on the lake. Many little extras were available in the units. i.e coffee w/ filters/ a lovely welcome snack/clean bathrooms and kitchens/clean linens. etc. Great neighorhood with lovely neighbors. One of the best times our family has had together in a long long time. We will go back.

We rented this cottage to stay close to people we were visiting in our old hometown. The cottage was well maintained and equipped. The owners went above and beyond to provide us with anything we needed. Although our schedule didnt allow any time for touring the immediate area, we know that there are plently of attractions and activities in the surrouning communities. We would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay on the shores of Lake Erie

KEEP THIS PLACE SECRET!!! We found this lakefront cabin to be a clean, warm refuge while visiting our daughter at Oberlin College on a miserably cold and rainy weekend. The cabin provided a comfortable family room to sit with my father who took the second bedroom; and a kitchen for quick, inexpensive breakfasts (coffee provided). We plan on visiting again in the spring when we can enjoy the yard and lakefront.

My family and I enjoyed a lovely week at this very charming cottage overlooking the lake. The property is well maintained both inside and out. Both units are appointed with beautiful linens and amenities including coffee and a large jar filled with candy. The owners are quite willing to assist in anyway to make your stay enjoyable. My family has already reserved both units for next year!

We just returned to Seattle, WA after spending a wonderful week at these cabins where we enjoyed a family reunion. The accomodations were lovely and clean, the cabins were well stocked with cooking supplies and the location worked well for us. We were able to spend time in Cleveland and also went to Put-in-Bay, Huron and enjoyed exploring Vermilion, too. Most memorable for our family will probably be the evening campfires and the incredible sunsets on the lake. We would recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a nice, comfortable getaway on Lake Erie.
