Elegant but comfortable, 300-year old colonial home located in El Centro (3 blocks from the Jardin and Parroquia). It was recently renovated (Dec 2007) to include such American amenities as: purified water, garbage disposer, stainless kitchen Viking & Bosch stainless steel appliances(refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, microwave, gas range and oven, and dishwasher).
A BainUltra ThermoMasseur (imported from Canada with air jets completely surrounding inside of tub, 2 heated backrests & headrests, chroma therapy (7 changing colors of the water), and aromatherapy (herbs or oils can be added because the jets are air rather than water).
Five gas fireplaces (one is 2-sided opening to bedroom and dressing room), Viking 6-burner gas grill on front 3rd floor terrace, and tea suite (under counter refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker) located in 3rd floor sitting room. Unlike many homes in El Centro, an abundance of natural light has been brought into all levels from the 4th level for the gardens.
Large skylights spanning the 3 levels are located in the entry at the front of the house and above the open suspended staircase at the back of the house. Another large skylight is located above the jacuzzi on the 2nd floor. Three terraces with trees, shrubs, and flowers create an San Miguel ambiance.
Original stone walls, fireplace, and archway, arched entries with cantera, mesquite doors, travertine marble floors and counter tops, stone floors on all terraces, and antiques enhance the colonial Mexican flavor.
The house is located 3 blocks from the Jardin & the Parroquia. It is a 5-min. walk from the Instituto and the horticultural Parque Juarez is at the end of our block (Tenerias).
High speed wireless internet and a local cell phone is provided. TVs along with DVD and/or VCR players are found in all the bedrooms and 1st fl. den. Maid service is provided 2 days/ week. Cook optional.

I cannot wait to return to San Miguel and this house! I had the luxury of staying here for a week with my boyfriend while we attended my friend's wedding. I had no idea until we were there, but this house is perfectly situated. Close to markets, dining, centro, the park, EVERYTHING. We were even three blocks away from the wedding. The house itself is a dream. A fireplace in every room. Multiple terraces to watch the city go by, marvel at the Parroquia, or take in the sunset. The owners and the onsite manager are very nice and helpful. Can't recommend this place enough!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.

Travelling to San Miguel is a delightful adventure any day, but staying here just adds to the charm. All the modern conveniences you would want, yet done in a unique authentic style. We were actually visiting friends who had rented for the month, so there were 3 couples staying for a few days. Plenty of rooms to spread out or stay together. You'll never want to leave the upper decks. If you go - don't miss out on the evening activities in the nearby town square or the Saturday morning farmers market in the park.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

We had a lovely visit and would certainly want to stay at Tenerias Ocho again. Very clean, elegant, and comfortable. Location was so special. Every morning began with a walk in a different direction, each filled with beauty and interest. This activity was followed by coffee on the rooftop terrace overlooking the historic city. This same terrace provided the setting for the final activity of the day, a quiet meditation while gazing at the beautifully lit La Parroquia. Most of our meals were prepared in the fully equipped and modern kitchen. Everything in the home functioned perfectly. We met several of the people involved with caring for the home and all were very helpful and friendly. We had so much fun.

My friends and I stayed at Tenerias Ocho for a wedding in San Miguel and were delighted with our accomodations. The House has a fantastic location and we were able to walk everywhere. The three story building is a gorgeous blend of old world, colonial charm and tasteful modern asthetics (not to mention plenty of luxury amenities!). The views from the decks are gorgeous and each of the master bedrooms was spacious and comfortable and perfect for three adult couples (many houses for rent in San Miguel have only one master bedroom and are therefore not suitable for a group of adults travelling together. The house manager, Isreal was very helpful and assisted us with numerious small details. All in all, this is a fantastic rental property and we will be staying here again when we return to San Miguel.

We had a wonderful stay in your beautiful and very comfortable house. We have rented houses for decades on a regular basis in every corner of the world and I can tell you that yours is extremely well laid out and outfitted for short/long term renters. It is much more welcoming and accommodating that the majority of such properties and does not have the feel of the usual "rental" property. It is not easy to achieve, let alone convey this excellent quality in an advertisement for the property. Tenerias ocho is a lovely home and perfectly located, easy walking to all the best restaurants and attractions that San Miguel has to offer. My family and I have been traveling to San Miguel for many years and this is the very first rental that we would re-rent. The owners are amazingly easy to work with and have considered every possible rental amenity. The Bain Ultra tub in the master suite is a particular treat. From the 4th floor terrace you can enjoy unobstructed views of La Parroquia and spectacular sunsets. Isreal, the local property manager is professional, attentive and simply a delight. Over the years we have rented through VRBO, third party management firms, and private owners. This has, by far, been our most positive SMA rental experience. We hope to return to Tenerias ocho very soon!

We stayed in the house over New Year's week and had a great time in San Miguel. The house is beautiful and in a great location--walked everywhere. The house manager took great care of us. A wonderful vacation. The spectacular weather didn't hurt either!
