We had a great weekend at this property. It is clean, comfortable and has a beautiful view of the forested mountain valley. The manager, Iris, was very nice and informative about the area, with the exception of one little detail not mentioned: it is very secluded, so secluded, in fact, that it came as quite a shock to find out on Sunday that we were sharing the house with another tenant who was living on the floor below us. She (the tenant) was very quiet and unobtrusive, but I suggest that the presence of a stranger so close be made known to the renters, not left to the renters to find out on their own. One needs to know if their conversations are private and/or if their noise might be bothering someone else.
Owner response:We are glad you enjoyed your stay and the house. Our house is two rentals units which is clearly listed on our website, see below quote from our VRBO site. "The lower level of this house is rented out separately. We do have customers that will inquire about renting the lower unit as well. If a potential renter is looking for accommodations greater than eight (8) people and the lower unit is available, we will offer the option to rent the entire house. Each unit is absolute separate & private with entrances on different levels. We had the home constructed with extra sound proofing between units for privacy and quiet. The only thing shared is the driveway. In addition there are separate heat/air conditioning controls for each level." Reagrdless, it sounds like you had a wonderful time and the fact that the lower level was rented during your visit did not seem to have any effect on your stay since it was "very quiet and unobtrusive". We hope you will come see us again.

I was very pleased to stay at this retreat over the Veteran's Day weekend as my sisters and I were celebrating a 40th birthday. It was exactly as the photos showed and was very clean and neat. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks to Iris for being so helpful and accomodating!

We have been coming to Asheville in October for about 7 years. We have always stayed at a local hotel, however we decided to find a house or cabin to rent for this visit. After researching and reading all reviews, what a relief to find this house. Since the first contact with Iris, we found her to be very helpful and genuine. Everything was just like the website and reviews claimed it would be. The view from the master bedroom was simply amazing at sunrise. We are definitely planning to return October 2012.
Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope that others who visit Asheville and stay at hotels will follow your lead and stay at our home. We hope to see you soon!

We spent two separate week-ends in this wonderful house during the month of September 2011. The location is beautiful - truly a getaway from it all, and yet only 20 mins. to Asheville. The house has all the necessary amenities which makes it very comfortable, along with being extremely clean. Our favorite part of the house is the large deck with the beautiful view. Having the opportunity to relax and spend quality memorable time with family and friends was cherished by all - we will return! (FYI - The guys enjoyed golf at the Broadmoor, the girls enjoyed shopping, and we all enjoyed eating breakfast at Sunny Point Cafe on Haywood Rd. in Asheville - delicious healthy food!)
Owner response:Always appreciate guests taking a minute to review us. This lets future guests get an unbiased opinion of the unit, view & the relaxing peace & quiet of it's location. The deck truly is perfect for relaxing, enjoying meals & amazing with a view of millions of stars. The guests mentioned the Broadmoor Golf Club which is 10 - 12 minutes from the unit & recently voted one of the best in the south & also the Sunny Point Cafe on Haywood Rd in Asheville, which you may enjoy visiting.

We loved our visit here so much. The house is nice and the view is so beautiful. It had everything we needed and was the perfect size for our extended family. It's secluded and yet quite close to everything. It was a short drive to get on the parkway and to downtown Asheville. We will return. Iris was so helpful. We really enjoyed meeting her and Aubrey. Thank you for everything.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind review. We are pleased you found the unit perfect for your visit & plan to return for the 10% discount offered to return guests. The guest's viewpoint is what is important to the owners & myself as manager.

The top half of this home is lovely, clean and well maintained. The location is very pretty and secluded - about 20-30 minutes from Biltmore and downtown Asheville. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee maker and the other necessities for doing light cooking. The unit has a gas grill which was nice although we did not take advantage of that great extra. They had lots of information available with things to do in the area as well as restaurants nearby. The rental manager could not have been nicer and was very helpful getting us settled. When we arrived, she showed us around and explained how everything worked and how to get a hold of her if we had a problem. I do have to say that I wish I had read all of the reviews thoroughly - as there is a renter in the lower half of the house and this is not disclosed in the information provided on the website. The tenant was quiet and one would barely know that the renter was there, but it is a bit surprising to learn of it once you have checked in. Also the space is a bit tight for 8 (6 would be better, the other 2 will be sleeping on the sleeper sofa together)!
Owner response:We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It is always nice to hear about the many wonderful features of our home. We strive to make everyone's stay a memorable & enjoyable experience. We updated the description to include more detail about lower unit rental. As future guests, choose our centrally located yet secluded, but not remote location, when visiting Western North Carolina. There are so many things to do you'll want to return often. We offer a 10% discount to all our returning guests.

This was our 2nd time to stay at this great house in the mountains. Our daughter showed in two horse shows this year at the agricultural center in Fletcher. The location of this property was perfect for us. We could get to the horse show in 10 to 15 minutes and we could all stay together and not be cramped in separate hotel rooms. We grilled out on the back deck, took in the view and relaxed between events at the horse show. We very much enjoyed both of our stays here. The house is very clean and extremely well kept thanks to a wonderful caretaker named Iris. Everything was easy from making the reservation to checking out.
Owner response:We greatly appreciate our guests taking time to let others know about their stay with us. We strive to make your time with us one a pleasure feeling like you are in a "home away from home," but ever better in this quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Come back often & take advantage of the return 10% discount the owners offer.

We absolutely loved our 3-day get-away to Asheville and this cozy home in the hills was perfect! My husband and I have stayed at a lot of vacation rentals but we were amazed at how much this home was cared for like a hotel. Clean, neat, and fully furnished with the added benefit of peace and quiet, yet it only took us about 20min to get to the Biltmore Estate and enjoy those tourist activities. Be sure to sit on the back deck during sunset and listen to the sounds of nature. It was a great trip and we're looking forward to our next visit in Fall!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind comments. We strive to be "outstanding" & a place that stands out in your memory, where you want to return over & over. We look forward to your return visits!!!!

We just got back from 5 days at this rental. Our only complaint was we just did not have enough time to do everything. We spent the first day just relaxing and unwinding. The views of the mountains from the deck are spectacular. We went hiking one day and saw the waterfalls in DuPont Forest. Biltmore was also great. We loved the house. It was very secluded. We felt like we owned the mountain. We had four adults and four kids with us and we had plenty of room. I would recommend this rental.
Owner response:Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Yes, the view, heavenly seclusion & peacefulness of the moutain are some of the unit's outstanding features. Remember, the owner's extend a thank you of a 10% discount on your return visit.

We just got back from a 5 day stay in the mountains in this beautiful home. The house was as advertised. It had all the amenitites we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked. The beds were comfortable. The view was to die for. My wife and I would wake up and have coffee on the deck overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. The weather was warm enough that we had dinner with the whole family out on the deck. The kids loved the house and the area. We went zip lining, headed to DuPont Forest for the waterfalls and visited Biltmore Estates. We spent one day resting at the house doing nothing much but enjoying the quiet of the surrounding property and walking thru the stream and visiting the fish pond. One day we even saw some wild turkeys walking up our driveway. Iris, the property manager, was great. She made sure we had everything we needed and gave us suggestions and directions to many of the local attractions. We will definetly come back.
Owner response:Thank you for the kind words and we hope you do come back again....don't forget we offer 10% discounts to return visitors.

Overall the experience was good. The accommodations were nice. The view was great (although there is absolutely no yard/grass. It is all mountains that you can not get to or through even if you wanted to.) The house provided all the comforts of home in a clean and well-kept environment. However, the advertisement does not tell you everything which is our biggest complaint. It leads you to believe that you are renting the entire home. In fact, the contract states that you rent the actual address. What they fail to mention is that the manager lives on the floor below you. They were quiet and courteous but it was just not the secluded private home we were expecting. They did apologize for the miscommunication and offered to refund our money, but where can we go since we have 6 people and really no other options. In addition they told us enough paper supplies would be there to last our entire stay; however, the toilet paper and paper towels didn't last a day. We tried to contact them and had to leave messages each time and it was the next day before anything arrived. In the meantime we bought our own. All in all it was OK. The location to the Biltmore and surrounding areas was good. The house was nice with a good view. Just remember....someone is listening.
Owner response:Upon arriving, the reviewer contacted our property manager and told her they thought the entire house was being rented. Our property manager notified them that it was only the first floor unit they were renting and which was advertised. We offered the reviewer a complete refund of their money if they wanted even though it would have been impossible for us to re-rent on such notice. The reviewer declined the refund and per their review had a wonderful time. At the time of the rental, our property manager did live in the lower unit. This is no longer the case as she now lives about 10 miles away. She is always very responsive to any of our customer’s needs. When this reviewer rented our policy was to provide one day worth of toilet paper and paper towels. We have since changed our policy and we offer these products for your entire duration. This vacation rental is listed as a 1,500 square feet first floor unit only. The lower level is rented out separately. We do have customers that will inquire about renting the lower unit as well. If a potential renter is looking for accommodations greater than eight (8) people and the lower unit is available, we will offer the option to rent the entire house. Our property is two separate units each having their own access, private deck, parking, etc. Nothing is shared between the two units. We are located on over 10 acres of private property overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. From the moment you cross the stream to access our driveway you will feel the relaxation kick in. Spend a weekend in our home and you will be rejuvenated unwinding in our slice of heaven. Whether both units are occupied or just one, this is a private and peaceful vacation rental with plenty to do just minutes away. As a note, we are activating property reviews as of February, 15, 2011. We have been offering our vacation rental since 2002 and have never received negative feedback. We have guest log books which speak loudly to our satisfied clientele. Come stay with us and let us show you the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. You will not regret it!
