This place exceeded our expectations. The location was beautiful, the property was well-kept and had many amenities for our use. The dock and the water trampoline were listed, but we also had use of a covered picnic table for dining by the lake, and a small skiff (the grandkids loved that). You do not have to take anything except towels and bed linens, and of course your clothes. All the extras you would never take on vacation are supplied, a mixer, a food processor, blender, etc. The Peninsula Market is very close, and Chester has a large Holiday Supermarket. Chester also has some great little shops, The Grey Squirrel has the BEST FUDGE! Buffalo Chips in Westwood has great pizza. There are many other restaurants, but we grilled most of our own food on the gas grill and ate on the huge covered porch. The biggest entertainment for our kids and grandkids was Lake Almanor, we boated, swam, fished, sat on the dock and generally enjoyed the Lake. If you wanted to sight-see there is the drive around the Lake and Lassen Park, to name a couple things. Last but not least the owners, Jennifer and Bob were terrific. More like a host and hostess making sure their guests were comfortable and welcome. Jennifer is an excellent baker, how do we know? There was a delicious chocolate cake waiting for us on the kitchen counter. Bob was especially patient with our grandson and showed him how to row the skiff. Would we recommend to friends, you bet, to family, they want to go back. Of course recommending Pier 142 because we enjoyed it so much can be a 2 edged sword. We want others to enjoy, but we also want to be able to get reservations to go back. We have already made reservations for next summer and will be going for a longer time period. We are looking forward to another great time at Pier 142.
Owner response:What an absolute joy to have such wonderful guests. We enjoyed every minute and are thrilled to have them back next year. What a surprise to come in after check-out to discover flowers and fudge.Sharing Pier 142 with others has been a real pleasure for Bob and I.

My family of 4 had the privilege of staying at Jennifer and Bob's lakefront retreat. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Bob and Jennifer. When we entered the kitchen we saw a delicious freshly baked chocolate cake and a bottle of red wine. They knew how to get our vacation off to a great start. The house is in an ideal location and has all the amenities as described. The lakefront location is great as we would walk down to the lake and jump into the refreshing water of Lake Almanor. The kids loved swimming to the water trampoline ( a short swim from the pier). There is a marina about 1 mile away where we rented ski boats and jet skis. It seemed as if we were one of only a handful of boats on the lake. We had most meals at the home taking advantage of the gas grill and dining on the deck looking at the lake. We did not explore any nightlife (if there is any) as we were tuckered out at the end of the day. The owners are upfront, honest, and prompt in returning our security deposit. My only hesitation a writing this review is if it decreases the availability of the property when we want to go back!
Owner response:It was an extreme pleasure to have Jerry and his family stay at Pier 142. It's families like them, that make us happy to share our place. We so appreciate the time you took to leave such a gracious review. We'll always have room for you! Thanks Again, Bob & Jennifer

We just had the priviledge of stay at the Grupczynski lake home! My husband and I with two 16 year olds just had a fantastic week. Lake Almanor is one of our favorites for water activities. The rental home was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Bob and Jennifer could not possibly have been more pleasant or helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed for the week and were so nice to be around. The rental property was easy to get to and convenient. The private boat ramp and dock was a major plus! We look forward to a return trip and would highly recommend this rental to others :) THANKS BOB AND JENNIFER!! PS: The cake was an unexpected delicious bonus!!
Owner response:Thanks Michele, We really enjoyed meeting you and your family. It was our pleasure to share Pier 142 with you and we look forward to having you on your next family vacation :) Bob & Jen

We have stayed at Lake Almanor in early October to fish and do the Bizz Johnson Marathon for the past 3 years . Bob and Jennifer made this our most comfortable, relaxing Lake Alamanor vacation ever! What a perfect location with every amenity listed and more. How delightful to have our own boat dock! The back porch was a wonderful place to read and enjoy the spectacular lake view. It was most obvious that Bob and Jennifer take extra care in making their guests feel at home. We were greeted with smiles and a huge delicious carrot cake. The thoughtful information book on local restaurants, and attractions that they'd put together was awesome. The whole property was immaculate. Our week passed much too quickly! Although we didn't cook much, the kitchen has every appliance, and accessory one would ever ask for. For restaurants, our number one choice was Luciano's near the market.Amazing food, service, but go there hungry! We have already recommended this property to our friends and look forward to another trip back in October. Thanks Bob and Jennifer, for making our vacation time special!
Owner response:We really enjoyed meeting you both and are thrilled that you had such a wonderful time. We look forward to having you again. Thanks for sharing your experience!!!

Thanks Bob and Jennifer! We had the time of our lives. It was a 5 star vacation. The house is darling and immaculate -- so nicely decorated, and COMFORTABLE. Your hospitality was so appreciated, you are really lovely people. The view is amazing. The amenities were above and beyond. The best!!!!! This is a fantastic value. Perhaps we shouldn't be so positive, as we want it to be available for us when we come every year, but I can't resist.
Owner response:Thanks for taking the time to leave such a positive comment. We enjoyed having you!!!!
