Lombok is a beautiful, unspoiled island located just 20 minutes by air to the east of Bali, its more well known sister. There are regular flights daily from within Indonesia and direct international flights from Singapore several times a week. This island jewel was cited by Conde Nast Traveler (2007) as one of the world's top island destinations. Unspoiled by mass tourism, Lombok is known for its beautiful green rice fields, lush foliage and little horsedrawn carts which are a major means of transportation for the local people.
The Lonely Planet raves: "Less developed than Bali, Lombok has better beaches, a bigger volcano and more varied landscapes. Tourism is still low key, and many visitors are independent travelers drawn by the island's intoxicating diving and snorkeling, hiking and surf spots, as well as Lombok's intriguing endemic culture."
Your holiday can be as lazy or as active as you choose; trekking, diving, surfing or spa visits, snorkeling, pool-side lounging and snoozing in a hammock. Lombok boasts incredible natural beauty and bio-diversity. It is home to Mt Rinjani, one of the top climbing destinations in SE Asia and the divers' paradise known as the Gilis which are just a few minutes offshore. Lombok has sweeping unspoiled beaches all within minutes of your base at Villa Merasheen.
Our deluxe villa offers all the comforts of home in a secure, private, professionally maintained compound with 24 hour security. Only minutes from the beach on foot, the villa has access to a tropical garden, large pool, and hot tub. You will be amazed by the orchids and frangipani. Villa Merasheen is located in The Secret Garden which is a small, private complex set in a lush coconut valley 2km north of the tourist hub of Sengiggi. This is the town where you will find shopping, restaurants and night life. You will be a 20 minute drive from the Mataram Airport. Taxis are cheap. One dollar will get you to Sengiggi and $7.00 is the cost of a trip to the airport.
The villa is located within our own large private garden with a spacious, covered, private beruga (lanai) for outdoor lounging and dining. We have a gourmet kitchen with all Western conveniences, a den with futon, large open plan lounge and dining room, two large bedrooms with full en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom has a private balcony with views of the pool. You'll find the bookshelves fully stocked, an ample DVD library and lots of board games. The villa has been tastefully decorated in modern, minimalist Indonesian style with original art work. The villa is also equipped with a wide variety of baby items which are available to you, free of charge, if you require.
Your rental includes a full-time, English speaking housekeeper and a gardener. For an additional charge you can rent one of our cars, either a vintage Toyota Land Cruiser or a Toyota Avanza, which come with a licensed driver.
Note that Villa Serendah is located next door to Merasheen. It is owned by the same family and is also available for rent. All information is the same as the two villas are identical.
