Great home! We enjoyed ourselves immensly. Quiet, well appointed property with 4 comfy sleeping rooms and open kitchen and deck that backs up to the forest. Close to Eagle Lake and all Park locations. There is even a trail out the back of the property that we walked a number of times. We are considering coming back next year and bringing our parents. Thank you for a great stay.

This was our first visit to Bar Harbor with our family and we enjoyed the area as well as our stay at this home. What a beautiful location as we were truly one with nature as we had acres of land to run around on so it was just great for the kids.. the home was near our favorite park entrances Cadillac and Eagle lake which we went to every day... the kitchen was comfortable and had everything we needed. With a den and a living room we were able to sit in the living room and read a book and leave the kids to watch TV. We have already contacted the owner to return next year.

We loved visiting Bar Harbor and had a beautiful week.  It is a great place for families to enjoy the outdoors.  There was plenty of room for our family of 7.  We were a bit disappointed in the home we chose because it was dated and run down.  The communication in and out of the house was difficult for 2 reasons. First the WIFI did not work and even when we called the owner it was not able to be resolved while we were there...Since there was no cell phone reception using the landline was necessary. The kitchen phone was difficult to hear because of excessive static.    It was 4 days until they could come to resolve the WIFI problem.  We were on vacation and did not want to deal with waiting for them to arrive, so we went without WIFI for the week.  This made it difficult when we couldn't check flight status and updated information about the Bar Harbor area. Since there was no cell phone connection,  the kitchen phone should have been updated.

Owner response: I always enjoy reading our visitors responses as it always help us improve our homes. We want to make everyone's stay as pleasant as possible and for the most part we succeed. The following are responses to the critique of Acadia Woods. Acadia Woods is only 8 years old and everything in the home was brand new at the time. Every year we upgrade whatever we feel needs upgrading. This past year we put ceiling fans in all of the rooms and upgraded 2 bedrooms with curtains, quilts and linens. The entire home was repainted internally 5 years ago with satin paint for easy washing if there are any marks on the wall.. The home has not one scuff mark, stain on any of the walls..... New washer and dryer was put in this year. The master bath was upgraded 3 years ago. The deck was re-done last year. The pictures of the home are also upgraded every year. So for the most part whatever you see in the picture is the exact way the home will look upon entering. Bar Harbor is also an area where cell phone use varies from end of the block to the next so signals fade in and out. As a hands on owner I pride myself in making changes quickly when there is a need. The phone was replaced this year in the kitchen and unfortunately there continues to be static on the line. Fairpoint is working on the problem as it's not the phone. We never heard anything about the phone being a problem. WIFI - Sometimes we hear from a tenant once, notify the utility or repair company, provide the tenant with the information and if we don't hear back from the tenant we assume the problem was corrected. If there continues to be a problem we assume the tenant will call us. We never heard back from this tenant. We found out that there continued to be a problem from the next tenant... we worked with the tenant and Fairpoint and WIFI was corrected immediately. Seems the problem was related to the carrier turning off WIFI for whatever reason.. so the call to fairpoint corrected the problem.

This was our first trip to Bar Harbor. We couldn’t have asked for a better house to stay in. It is very clean, comfortable and quit. The house had all the amenities we needed. My family especially liked the easy access to Bar Harbor and to the Park. We are planning to return in 2012.

we rented this house for the first time ,even though we have been to Bar Harbor the last 5 years ,the pictures don't do the house justice,it is beautiful and ,inviting, plenty of things in the house ,kitchen was well stocked and we all had a wonderful time ,my only concern was no cell phone service until we were a mile and 1/2 from the house ,other than that our vacation was the best , a great house to rent and it is on the top of our list for future trips to Bar Harbor!!! we highly recommend staying here !

Owner response: Since I have been involved in opening my home to families I wanted to make sure that they have everything they need to enjoy their vacation. We enjoy providing "everything" and then some. I tell my visitors only bring the family and your luggage and we will provide everything else. We are very thankful for the guests who chose our homes and we want them to have a great time.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2003

About the owner: I absolutely love Bar Harbor and can't get enough of the area. As a New Jersey resident I try to come to Maine as often as I can. This year the State of Maine was added to my territory so I have been up here many more times this year than normal. During the summer I squeezed in 2 extra visits. Even though I had to stay at the local hotel because my houses were booked - I was thrilled to be here! I can never get enough. During one of my visits because I had to work I was up at 5AM and walked the shore path which I could never do during my vacation... It was one of the most relaxing sites and energized me for the day to go back to work. And at that time of the morning hardly anyone was up or moving.. I had it all to myself... As a type 'A' personality hiking and biking are my favorite activities. My favorite trails are Norumbega, Canyon Brook, Precipice, Great Western Hike. Over the years I started really looping them together... One day I spend parking at Bubble Pond, then walking the carriage road to Eagle Lake where I take the Eagle Lake trail up over Connors Nubble (what a view - one of my favorite) then the North Bubble down the South Bubble to Jordan Pond trail where of course I stop at Jordan Pond house for tea and popovers... replenished I head up Pemetic and down the other side to get back to my car at Bubble Pond... As I write this around Thanksgiving time I am counting the days to Christmas, New Years when we spend our holiday in Bar Harbor.... I love to take the road up to Cadillac Mountain to the top. It's an experience that I enjoy every winter because the views are so different than the summer time.... I know when you visit you will enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park as much as I do.

Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor:
After looking and looking and looking for a newer home with a location that provided access to all of the key areas we finally found that at Acadia Woods. This home was going to be our retirement home (if there is such a thing today) so I wanted it all. Location, charm, neighbors, comfort. Acadia National Park is a treasure that is spread out all along Mt. Desert Island. Most people think that Bar Harbor has it all. Southwest and Northeast Harbor provides some of the best trails, scenery and restaurants than almost anywhere else. Parkman, Bald, Norumbega, Western Mountain, Beech Mountain, Western Mountain, Perpendicular trails and I could go on and on. Do you like Gardens? Than the Thuya Gardens is a must. How about Lighthouse? Can't miss Bass Harbor Light or the Wonderland and Ship Harbor trails that are right over the ocean. Sightseeing? Sargent drive with those fabulous mansions should be squeezed in. Lakes, Ponds? Mt. Desert Island has 27 lakes and ponds so don't forget to visit Echo Lake, Long Pond or Little Long Pond. Like to bike? If you start at the Brown Gate area on Rte. 198 and take the Around the Mountain loop you will not be sorry!!! I hope you get the idea... There is so much to see and do and usually not enough time to take it all in.... Acadia Woods will provide you with a comfortable location to everywhere you want to go.... I love talking to potential tenants and can answer all of your questions about the wonderful world of Bar Harbor.........

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The experience begins as you come drive down our residential neighborhood. You will quickly realize that all you see are birch and spruce trees... all of the homes are secluded. As you turn into my driveway you come to a clearing and there it is..... ACADIA WOODS! There isn't a house that has the charm or wonderful location that this house can offer you. Acadia rests on 2 acres of land where you can sit on the front steps or on the deck enjoying the morning paper - sipping coffee and you won't see or hear a sound other than the birds. Oh what a way to begin the day! Even when I'm at the house and doing the chores - and yes there is plenty of them - I really don't mind at all because the surroundings are typical Maine. Even when you are in the kitchen, den, living room, bedrooms as no matter which window you are looking out of you can enjoy the view. I LOVE the kitchen because it's a very good size with a large sitting area for the family to get together. I tried to make this house a home and not the feel of a rental... as this is my home away from home!
