Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
I absolutely love Bar Harbor and can't get enough of the area. As a New Jersey resident I try to come to Maine as often as I can. This year the State of Maine was added to my territory so I have been up here many more times this year than normal. During the summer I squeezed in 2 extra visits. Even though I had to stay at the local hotel because my houses were booked - I was thrilled to be here! I can never get enough. During one of my visits because I had to work I was up at 5AM and walked the shore path which I could never do during my vacation... It was one of the most relaxing sites and energized me for the day to go back to work. And at that time of the morning hardly anyone was up or moving.. I had it all to myself... As a type "A" personality hiking and biking are my favorite activities. My favorite trails are Norumbega, Canyon Brook, Precipice, Great Western Hike. Over the years I started really looping them together... One day I spend parking at Bubble Pond, then walking the carriage road to Eagle Lake where I take the Eagle Lake trail up over Connors Nubble (what a view - one of my favorite) then the North Bubble down the South Bubble to Jordan Pond trail where of course I stop at Jordan Pond house for tea and popovers... replenished I head up Pemetic and down the other side to get back to my car at Bubble Pond... As I write this around Thanksgiving time I am counting the days to Christmas, New Years when we spend our holiday in Bar Harbor.... I love to take the road up to Cadillac Mountain to the top. It's an experience that I enjoy every winter because the views are so different than the summer time.... I know when you visit you will enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park as much as I do.
Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor
After looking and looking and looking for a newer home with a location that provided access to all of the key areas we finally found that at Acadia Woods. This home was going to be our retirement home (if there is such a thing today) so I wanted it all. Location, charm, neighbors, comfort. Acadia National Park is a treasure that is spread out all along Mt. Desert Island. Most people think that Bar Harbor has it all. Southwest and Northeast Harbor provides some of the best trails, scenery and restaurants than almost anywhere else. Parkman, Bald, Norumbega, Western Mountain, Beech Mountain, Western Mountain, Perpendicular trails and I could go on and on. Do you like Gardens? Than the Thuya Gardens is a must. How about Lighthouse? Can't miss Bass Harbor Light or the Wonderland and Ship Harbor trails that are right over the ocean. Sightseeing? Sargent drive with those fabulous mansions should be squeezed in. Lakes, Ponds? Mt. Desert Island has 27 lakes and ponds so don't forget to visit Echo Lake, Long Pond or Little Long Pond. Like to bike? If you start at the Brown Gate area on Rte. 198 and take the Around the Mountain loop you will not be sorry!!! I hope you get the idea... There is so much to see and do and usually not enough time to take it all in.... Acadia Woods will provide you with a comfortable location to everywhere you want to go.... I love talking to potential tenants and can answer all of your questions about the wonderful world of Bar Harbor.........
The Unique Benefits of this House
The experience begins as you come drive down our residential neighborhood. You will quickly realize that all you see are birch and spruce trees... all of the homes are secluded. As you turn into my driveway you come to a clearing and there it is..... ACADIA WOODS! There isn't a house that has the charm or wonderful location that this house can offer you. Acadia rests on 2 acres of land where you can sit on the front steps or on the deck enjoying the morning paper - sipping coffee and you won't see or hear a sound other than the birds. Oh what a way to begin the day! Even when I'm at the house and doing the chores - and yes there is plenty of them - I really don't mind at all because the surroundings are typical Maine. Even when you are in the kitchen, den, living room, bedrooms as no matter which window you are looking out of you can enjoy the view. I LOVE the kitchen because it's a very good size with a large sitting area for the family to get together. I tried to make this house a home and not the feel of a rental... as this is my home away from home!

we rented this house for the first time ,even though we have been to Bar Harbor the last 5 years ,the pictures don't do the house justice,it is beautiful and ,inviting, plenty of things in the house ,kitchen was well stocked and we all had a wonderful time ,my only concern was no cell phone service until we were a mile and 1/2 from the house ,other than that our vacation was the best , a great house to rent and it is on the top of our list for future trips to Bar Harbor!!! we highly recommend staying here !
Owner response:Since I have been involved in opening my home to families I wanted to make sure that they have everything they need to enjoy their vacation. We enjoy providing "everything" and then some. I tell my visitors only bring the family and your luggage and we will provide everything else. We are very thankful for the guests who chose our homes and we want them to have a great time.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
