My husband, our dog Jack, and I had to extend our stay in Boulder for two days and were lucky to find Susurro available. Not that many places will take dogs nor are they available last minute. We arrived on May 1st in a snow storm and were so pleased to find such a beautiful and warm place. Susurro is decorated beautifully, in a style that makes you feel like you are in a foreign country. We would love to come back and stay much longer next time!

After arriving late Friday we were blessed with 10 inches of snow! We were warm and cozy in Susurro! Bruce promptly shoveled the walk and we were on our way to exploring the winter wonderland that is Boulder in the spring! We returned home each evening to prepare our meals in the magical garden apartment. With a vintage stove and all the spices you need it is a breeze. Coffee maker and filters put the caffeine addict at ease. Beautiful artwork and warm colors make it hard to leave this retreat. Board games, music, movies can keep you busy all day. Susurro is extremely clean! (Thanks Maria!) All the furniture and both beds are comfortable. We never wanted to check out!

This was our second stay at this comfortable apartment. My wife and I, along with our five year old son and dog felt right at home after each day exploring Boulder. There is a separate entrance to the apartment so we felt we had our own space. The apartment is clean and thoughtfully decorated. We love Pearl Street mall, the restaurants in Boulder and the playgrounds and bike paths and hiking/strolling all around Boulder. Thanks for being dog and family friendly, and we hope to return.

Both my sons said they could envision living here! We never saw the owners - we didn't have any problems nor need to bother them. We did email a couple of times with minor questions. The apartment was very comfortable but the beds were AWESOME. Very plush - we all slept wonderfully. Location was a big plus. There are extraordinary hiking paths literally right out the door. The walk to all the fabulous restaurants on and around Pearl street is a simple, safe walk. We had a blast. Now, if my son can only get in to UCB, we'll be back! I do highly recommend Bruce and Marcela's apartment.

Spent two lovely weeks at Susurro in July/August. We were a family of four traveling with our dog, and found the apartment clean, comfortably furnished and colorfully decorated. Bruce was a pleasure to deal with. The apartments location is excellent, with easy access to great hiking trails a couple of blocks away, and a grocery store, restaurants and shops a short walk away. The west end of Pearl Street is also less than a ten minute walk from the apartment. We had a great stay in this fun, funky, well located apartment. Highly recommended!

Wonderful location... a park, nice hiking/running trails, a grocery store, and coffee shop all within a quick walk. While not a huge space, the apartment was great for 3 of us and we had plenty of privacy. The space itself is comfortable, very well stocked, and stayed remarkably cool during the warm weather. Bruce was very responsive to all of our questions. Would definitely recommend.

Susurro was just a wonderful experience. Such a comfortable and welcoming space beautifully designed and adorned with a well stocked kitchen as we cooked many meals during our our stay and the vintage stove was a treasure. The owners were so kind and helpful with all of our questions about Boulder since it was our 1st visit to the area. And the apartment was within walking distance to so much that we wanted to experience during our stay. We will be back to lovely Susurro.

Slept like babies in the comfortable bed. It was very quiet. Decor is funky and cool. Easy walk downtown through great neighborhood. Several close good restaurants. About a block and a half to great hiking in the foothills. Also a very close park that is a cool place to be in the evenings. Throw a frisbee or relax. Cycling friendly city. Check out Redstone Meadery and Celestial seasonings tea.

This cozy apartment was a great fit for our family of 4. We loved the whimsical decor and the location was perfect- an easy walk to Pearl St mall even with kids. The beds were very comfortable and the place was well equipped with all the necessities. Bruce was very responsive and helpful via email/phone about the place before we arrived. We met both owners briefly while there and they were very friendly and accommodating. We had good wifi and cell phone coverage as well. Street parking was no problem. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay over Christmas at this eclectic-decorated apartment very much. It was clean, well-maintained, and the owner, Bruce, was very helpful in answering questions in a timely fashion. The book and CD selection was surprising--it's not often when staying at B&B's or rentals that you find books and music that match your taste or interest! The kitchen was adequately-equipped, although we only used it for breakfast. I would recommend this property to friends and relatives. Fun art work everywhere! Restaurants? Jill's for Christmas dinner was amazing! And the Mexican restaurant in Louisville was delicious.

Our concern about this apartment was the smell of gas when we lit the stove. The owner did check it on request and assured us it was safe but our experience was still unpleasant and disquieting. We had to open the window every time we used the stove. The living room had a shabby feel. THe floor tiles were old and shabby. The bedrooms and bathroom were better. The ad says it sleeps six. Where? We thought the apartment was poor value for money compared to other properties we have rented before in the same area.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car

Owner response: We appreciate the opportunity to reply to an unfavorable response in light of the previously 100% favorable experiences that our guests have had. We are required by the City of Boulder to be inspected semi-annually including all gas fired appliances - which we do. In the past, we have only had one other complaint with the 'smell' of gas that was also in the fall. Our apartment is a very well insulated apartment and that combined with the utility company adding a compound to natural gas to give it an odor - for safety - can create a smell of "gas". We check all gas connections when any tenant has a concern and have never found a leak to date. The gas lines were all replaced three years ago when we re-modeled. Having said this, we realize that it would be a good idea to install a venting fan to address this issue for the future. The floor tiles (true marbled linoleum and 100% cork) were also replaced three years ago. Sleeping - Our apartment has one bedroom with a a queen size bed and the other with a double bed. We also provide a single futon or a double air mattress for guests who request it. We always inform our guests that with more than four people accommodations will be tight. While we strive to provide a refuge for all our guests, unfortunately we do not always succeed.

We loved our stay at Susurro Sept 09. The apartment is tastefully appointed in bright colors and whimsy truly inspired by the artist's eye. The kitchen is well equipped, the living area a pleasure to relax in, and the bed we slept in exceptionally comfortable. The neighborhood is charming, with a touch of funky here and there, and reasonably close to town.

I rented this apartment with a couple friends for a girls' weekend in Boulder. The apartment was great. Colorful, clean, and comfortable. An easy walk to downtown. And dealing with the owner was always smooth and efficient. I would highly reccomend this rental.

We spent August 2008 as guests at Susurro and can't say enough good things about the experience. Our two young children loved playing on the patio (especially the apples that fall from the nearby trees) and we all enjoyed the proximity to Pearl Street, bike rides, the park, and the fantastic rec center. The house is cozy and cute. Cell phones and wifi were spotty, but manageable. Great rental!

Owner response: Cell phone coverage is 'spotty' with some cell phone carriers due to Susurro's proximity to the mountains. This is due to Boulder residents being unwilling to approve the installation of a cell phone tower on a local mountain - and I agree with that choice. That being said reception can be found usually within and always on the sidewalk of Susurro, with cell phone coverage improving every year... Computer access is occurs by direct connection (CAT5e cables supplied) to high speed internet available in bedrooms, kitchen and living room.

Three of us stayed at Susurro for four nights in July (the futon which makes an extra bed is very comfortable!). Sussuro is clean, colourful, high-functioning and sweet. It is welcoming, vibrant and homey, in the perfect proportions. Mapleton is a funky area and our morning walks into town were always interesting and shady (in the hot weather). It took us less than 15 minutes to walk to town, which is a bonus in a place where parking is tight. We will return when seminars or conferences bring us to Boulder again.

We just savored a short 3-day stay at Susurro with our 2.5 year old grandson (who named it "my orange house") and it was altogether a perfect experience. There's a sense of privacy without isolation in this truly colorful FUN apartment. It almost had the eclectic feel of our favorite N. WI cabin from childhood, but with modern conveniences. (The old reclaimed gas stove is quaint, but works great!) The location is ideal: beautiful, historic and walkable neighborhood. Close to lovely N. Boulder park. Not far from Boulder creek trails and easy to get to restaurants & Whole Foods markets. Bruce & Marcela are lovely, but not obtrusive hosts and the artistic talent is evident everywhere. The little private garden patio just outside the door is quiet and peaceful and even provided great wildlife (and neighboring kitty-life) outdoors for wonderful grandson entertainment! We'll definitely seek out a reservation here again when in Boulder on our next trip. It was really like having our very own cottage.
