Beautifully Furnished Studio - Upscale Amenities, Great Value
Year Purchased: 1996
Why the Owner Chose Mountain Shadows
Several years ago, before marriage and kids... I rented a studio for a ski trip with friends and was hooked. I loved the location, the feel of the unit, the jacuzzi and the PRICE!
The central location in town at the lower elevation is ideal for us. Our children do better in the lower altitude.
No matter how bad a storm/blizzard can get I can always drive to the condo from Orange County without having to stop and put chains on. This is very important to me as I make the drive alone several times per season. The same goes for when I leave town to drive back to the south land. There are no steep icy roads to deal with. The access road is always plowed as it is the main road through town. Once I arrive I do not need my car as the location is on the shuttle lines and walking distance to the grocery store, restaurants, etc.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
To me, the Mammoth area is paradise... almost sacred. When I am here, I want my living space to be as nice and special as Mammoth feels to me. Therefore, the condo is furnished beautifully with upscale local art, lighting etc. The TV and blu-ray home theater system create an "experience" when watching a movie (or playing back photos/video of shredding on the hill--or catching that big one up at the lakes basin). The bathroom remodel is fantastic, the new double head spa shower is gorgeous. The condo is terrific for a couple wanting a romantic getaway, friends who prefer an ambient, hip, yet affordable "pad" or for a family who enjoy spending cozy warm evenings indoors after a day of skiing/snowboarding or hiking/fishing/mountainbiking.
Owner's Map of Mountain Shadows
Reside at the Beach, but the Soul is in the Mountains.
Mammoth is a big part of our lives. We love skiing/snowboarding and climbing/hiking. My husband works part time as a ski instructor and I a snowboard instructor for the mountain. We bought the condo when our first child was born, realizing that we could no longer do hotels with a child in tow. Eventually our second daughter came along, so the use of a kitchen has been invaluable over the years. I spend as much time in Mammoth as I possibly can and love every season in the Sierras. Our careers/children keep us in San Clemente, but the kids have been raised with Mammoth as a big part of their lives.

This is a great little space. Very well appointed, with nicer furniture than I've encountered in most places I've rented in Mammoth. In particular the bed is super comfy. Very convenient location, within walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping. The owner is very pleasant to deal with, and with what I consider to be very reasonable rates, we'll certainly be back

My wife and I visited the Mammoth Lakes area for a recent wedding and now have plans to go back!!!! I will DEFINITELY stay here if the place is available! The pictures are spot on as far as the quality of the place...and LOCATION?!!! Well, you really can't get more central than this! It was perfect! Nearly all shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The remodeled bathroom was great and while we didn't bring the kids this time, the bunk beds are very cool and they will be put to use in the future! The kitchen is adequately stocked with the necessary tools (pots/pans) to make your stay not only more affordable than going out every night but very easy to cook. Susan made the arrangements (via email) and it went seamlessly and the directions to everything were again, spot on! If only they would let me give it 6 stars!

My girlfriend and I adored this lovely studio. It was beautifully decorated, had a great location, and had every amenity one could wish for--even an ironing board for waxing our boards! Moreover, the owner was super responsive and gracious. When we emailed her about rumors of possible road closures and the need to stay an extra night, she replied with info about the emergency equiment in the studio (in case of power outages, which are rare in Mammoth) and local men who could help us if we neeeded help. She also gave us detailed tips for installing chains in a protected area, keeping our car dug out and our windshield clear (with her shovels and scrapers), etc. I doubt anyone could find a nicer place or a more thoughtful owner, especially for such a reasonable price. Thanks, Susan! Debi, Carlsbad, CA

This was our first time in Mammoth- and arriving to find the condo exactly as advertised - no hitches - was a great blessing. All the directions received were correct and we were able to enjoy the great skiing and snowboarding without the hassle of additional hiccups. We especially loved the snowmobiles at the "Main Lodge". The condo is trendy and tastefully decorated and in an excellent location for grocery/restaurant/shopping purposes. The kids loved building their snow fort outside the balcony area (ground floor) and we were able to watch them from inside the warm condo (too cold to sit outside!) Lee, Temecula
