I've rented several vacation homes and have usually been disappointed with the results. NOT THIS TIME. The house was exactly as described and then some. Clean, beautifully furnished, everything you might need was there and the setting was perfect for a family gathering. I will rent this home (because that's what it felt like) again. Great experience.

The Lead Team of Crossroads Vineyard Church of Fredericksburg, VA stayed here for our Leadership Retreat. We had a fabulous time, the house is beautiful, plenty of space for our group of 7 and a infant. The house was fun for all during our free time!

We had a marvelous time at Hartwell Lake Escape! If you do not take relaxation and fun seriously, this is not the place for you. The house itself is comfortable and inviting with plenty of space for both "alone time" to relax and open areas for "family and friends time". We have all ages present -- from 2 to 72 -- and all said the visit was the highlight of the summer. For boaters, the house is in a great locale with a protected cove and close proximity to Harbor Light Marina. The dock is awesome, with plenty of depth, even when the lake is down a little (At our visit, lake was 6' below pool, but depth at dock was still about 13'). In summary, we will be back.

HArtwell Lake Escape

The Hartwell Lake Escape is just what we needed before we started our new school year in Florida. We went with another family kids ranging from 5 to 18 and it was perfect. The photos were on spot and the layout of the home was perfect for kids to hang out downstairs and adults to chill upstairs. It was very clean and extremely maintained.. it was OUR home for a week. I was also impressed with all the amenities they had in the kitchen as well as the laundry room. We rented a pontoon one day and a Speed boat another day, the booklet full of places of interest was peerfect. We enjoyed tubing in Helen GA. too our husband were only 1.5 hour from NC (Dupont) State park for stellar Mountain Biking. Our kids and ourselves enjoyed the beautiful lake and made great use of the dock and kayaks.. Any question or requests we had were answered promptly, we made a gorgeous photo album of our trip and had a wonderful family vacation. Strongly recommend!

The pictures do not do this property justice. It was very clean, spacious, nicely decorated and the kitchen was very well stocked. The only thing we would do differently is plan on eating in every night. We so enjoyed being on the lake until the last minute and with the grill on the deck it was easy to toss some food on the grill and enjoy the view. We wish it was for sale.

We have a large family so finding a place big enough for all of us to stay is a challenge. We were absolutely delighted from the first step into your home. It was better than we immagined, better than the pictures portrayed. All of us were very comfortable. Our grandchildren loved the dock and swam and played for hours. We would love to come again.

This lakehouse is a favorite of all our family members -- from 3 yrs to 70 yrs old! The layout fits us perfectly. If it is missing anything, it is an icemaker. We did have to make ice runs each day for ice to put in the cooler we took down to the dock. We usually do all our meals at the house so cannot recommend any eating places.

Owner response:We are so glad to have your family back again this year and happy to hear you had a great week! When we have a full house and high temps, like you did this year, the icemaker in the refrigerator just can’t keep pace. Fortunately, we do have a convenience store that sells ice just a couple of miles down the road. We have found that getting a few extra bags of ice and keeping them in the freezer and a cooler or two works well - and cuts down on trips to the store!

Amazing Family Weekend

Our whole family had a great time at Hartwell Lake Escape. Great layout for the family. The kids LOVED the game room (especially the basketball game). Rented a boat from Gordon's...enjoyed the lake and the great weather. Overall a great escape from the grind of Atlanta. We will be back.

Thanksgiving Getting Away

We spent an awesome Thanksgiving weekend get away with family. The 11 of us (4 adults, 7 children) had a blast just enjoying great family time!!!! Visited with parents that live in Hartwell and just had an extremely THANKFUL holiday! The house was a great place to rest. It was spacious. It had everything we needed and WAY more than we wanted. We all said how we would love to just move in there. We are spoiled forever and would love to be able to come again.

Our family had a wonderful Labor Day lake experience at this beautiful home. The house was immaculate and well decorated, very comfortable and fully stocked for a great get away. The lake was peaceful and not crowded, even on a holiday weekend. We LOVED the game room and with so many bedrooms, bathrooms and gathering spaces we had lots of room to be together or spread out. It was perfect. The owners were wonderful to work with and very helpful. Thanks for everything!

Our extended family (11 people) spent a fantastic week at this home. We lacked nothing - this house has it all. Comfortably furnished, great linens and towels, fully stocked kitchen, kayaks, floaties, dock chairs, screened porch with fireplace for making s'mores, games, We spent our days on the dock and in the water either floating by the dock or on our boat. We could sit on the dock and watch as our family did surfing, wake boarding, skiing and kneeboratding just outside the cove. Hartwell was close for grocery runs and we rode the boat to dinner at Portman Marina one night. It was a perfect week of family fun!

A great lake house

We spent four nights here with a group of 10 people (6 adults and 4 kids). The house was perfect for us. It was very large, and it was great for the kids to have the tv room and game room downstairs. The house was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed. Procedures and instructions (for fireplaces, internet, etc.) were documented well throughout the house. The water off of the dock was deep and great for swimming, and we loved having the covered boat slip to provide shade for the boat. This area of the lake has very little traffic and was good for tubing and jet skis.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed Hartwell Lake Escape. Everything we needed was provided! The detailed instructions were so helpful, too. We spent most of our time down at the lake, but we were very comfortable in your beautiful house. We did travel to Highlands, NC, on one day and found that to be an easy day trip. The owner was very helpful and very pleasant during our communications. We would recommend this property to friends or relatives.

It was a nice house and very comfortable...the lake nearby was quite refreshing after all of those hot days. It was a great location to bring several members of our family together who don't get time to play with one another due to the "daily grind." I recommend it!!!

We all had the most wonderful and relaxing weekend at the lake getting together with good friends we haven't seen in a while. We will definitely be back. The house was wonderful and enough room for all of us to spread out or be all together. Having our boat right there to jump on and go was so convenient. All the kids had a blast tubing, wake boarding, knee boarding, swimming, etc. You name it they did it and loved every minute of it. They all wanted to stay forever. We had a fabulous time at your beautiful home! Everything we needed was readily available,and the comfortable, cozy feel of the house added to our vacation. We really enjoyed our week at your beautiful lakehouse. There was plenty of space for all and we all had plenty of space to gather together or find our own space for some quiet time. The decor was beautiful and the beds were most comfortable! The kids really enjoyed having there own space to play games and watch TV. The lake was so peaceful, especially being in the cove. We all enjoyed kayaking around the cove and lake. Many of us enjoyed laying in the hammock, reading a book, and listening to the birds. This really is a beautiful house. We fit 12 adults in the house comfortably for July Fourth weekend and had a blast. Floating in the water, kayaking and eating some amazing meals. There was much to celebrate as two of our friends got engaged on the dock at sunset. How exciting! This is just a wonderful house with lots of memories and we hope to make it an annual trip.

We had a great time! The kitchen was very well-equipped and the floor plan worked great for our group. We loved the setting and had a great time walking by the lake - some of the little ones even went swimming! We mostly ate in and loved the kitchen - considering we put it to the ulitmate test of Thanksgiving dinner, it worked beautifully! Beautiful home. The pictures are nice, but you have to see it in person to understand how nicely everything is decorated and how well the final details (trim work, doors, dock, linens, appliances, etc...) are put together. Our family and friends had a blast. We swam in the lake, cooked out on the deck, tubed down the river in Helen, hiked to a waterfall on the Chattooga and played golf at the Hartwell Golf Club. Everything was perfect...fun and relaxing as we intended..

We had a great time! The dock was perfect. We took the boat out wake boarding and tubing everyday and swam and used the kayaks. The boys were also quite successful fishing! Had fun catching them! I really loved the house. I cooked every night and appreciated how well the kitchen was equipped. The house was decorated beautifully and with the wireless, I was able to do a little work each day. I could of spent the entire summer. I really liked the screen porch w/ the fireplace. We also met some of your neighbors, and everyone was very nice. We would definitely like to come back.

We had a wonderful family vacation here. Swimming off of the dock and tubing were our chosen activities. Your home is extremely comfortable and well designed for the perfect lakeside getaway. With all the basketball, board games, tubing and kayaking, our week went by too fast! We will definitely consider staying at your retreat again.

We had a wonderful week at your beautifully appointed lakefront retreat. We all enjoyed the game room and hanging out at the dock just to swim, fish, kayak, or read. Can you say "Perfect Vacation"? I can, only because this house was absolutly perfect in every way. Only the best of everything would be an accurate description. The attention to detail is just what you need to have a relaxing, worry free vacation. We are a family of six and there was something for everyone. The kids had their semi-private retreat downstirs while the adults relaxed upstairs after a hard day out on the lake fishing and swimming and tubing and kayaking, picnicing, and just soaking up some sun. Thank you for a home away from home vacation experience.

Absolutely fabulous vacation home. Beautifully decorated and well appointed, we couldn't have asked for anything more! There were ten of us ( 6 adults and 4 pre-teens ), and we had plenty of space. We and two other families rented this beautiful home for the week and have nothing negative to say. The decor is lovely, the ameneties super and overall it was just a wonderful vacation. My children loved the game room and hanging out on the dock. As adults, we loved the screened in porch, the wonderfully stocked kitchen, the kayaks, the elegant furnishings, the brand new dock and just about everything. I highly recommend this house!
