This is our home for the next Katrina; we live in Gulfport. In the meantime, when we are not in Oxford, you can enjoy Lafayette County the way the locals really do! Our house is located in an upscale, quiet neighborhood, surrounded by large, mature trees, on a dead end street.
We have the cable package here that we don't even allow ourselves at home. Whatever Vista Media (cable) can provide is available, including Pay for View programming, everything they offer. If you like XBox 360 and HALO III games, we have them along with the internet hookup (and joysticks for three). The office above the garage is equipped with a fax machine, printer-scanner-copier and the regular resources you would need to get your paper work done for the next day. You will need to bring your own laptop.
The house sits on a three acre lot that is mostly wooded but includes a large open area in the back and a solid 6 foot high cypress privacy fence encompassing the area around a rather large back deck that is lighted and stretches the length of the house. A propane gas grill is on the back deck, along with built-in seating and tables waiting for a gathering after the big trial victory, the graduation, or before and after the game. (We don't win all the games, but we have never lost a party.) A propane fish fryer setup can be used out in the back yard but not on the deck. There are extra 8 person rounds (tables) in the garage if you need them along with extra chairs. Hoddy Toddy!
If you are at this site, you do not have to be "sold" on Oxford or the surrounding area, but, as former residents, we have our favorites and will leave you our Visitor's Guide at the house. The home is perfect for large or extended family gatherings or teams of professionals that do not want noisy and nosy strangers nearby and need room to do their work or visit without being on top of each other. Any other desired amenities not listed can be gotten....just give us some lead time. |
