  A lovely apartment, which fully met our expectations. Hot tub, sauna, wonderful views to the mountains and town below. Good ski resort for both beginners and advanced skiers, excellent services and facilities, and friendly people. Definitely want to come back!

  My husband and I couldn't have imagined a better place to spend our honeymoon. At Alphaven Apt A we found better accommodations than any hotel could've provided. There's nothing like relaxing in a private hot tub with the striking view of mountains at sunset. The view from every room was also beyond belief and the apartment itself was very luxurious and modern with a fully equipped kitchen. The owners John & Ursula are very friendly and helpful as far as preparing you for your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the cute little town of Engelberg. Everything about Alphaven surpassed our expectations and we couldn't have asked for more!!

  I stayed a week at Alphaven last January. I found it every bit as well-created and serviced as advertised. Even better. The owner answered questions with lightening speed, making it easy and enjoyable to prepare for the trip, stay in the house and even think about when to go back (i.e. as soon as practically possible). Apartment A, in reality, feels as beautiful and new as the photos. The attention to detail shows. We didn't enjoy much snow during this warmest winter in decades, but I still felt as relaxed and on holiday as any time in my life. The surrounding mountains and friendly little village have become one of my favorites. I can only imagine how great it will be one of the next times, when we have a normal winter snowy white. Won't matter. I'll be there anyway!

  I booked this place for a surprise and it was higher than my expectation. We had a bloody awesome week-end :-) The view, the jacuzzi, the fireplace, the services (everything was waiting for us), a lot of space. I recommend the place and I will return per sure when I want to have a special week-end. Thanks as well to Candy and John for their amiability. Regards Aurélie & Edouard

  Whoever gets the opportunity to stay at this fabulous place will find himself in an apartment that is spotlessly clean, has all the comforts and amenities imaginable, a living room with a very cosy fireplace which simply evokes a sense of relaxation, a bathroom ideally suited for Cleopatra, a bedroom which implores one to a good nights’ sleep and oh I forgot the fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is surrounded by snow capped mountains, with Titlis looming straight ahead. Just watching the scenery is pure relaxation by itself. The view of the Engelberg in the evening looks just like a picture postcard with its twinkling lights and imposing monastery. The town boasts numerous and different restaurants and the food is varied and excellent throughout. The service is impeccable as with everything else that is Swiss. And when the weather is not that cooperative, don’t you worry, well just get into the Jacuzzi hot tub which I guarantee will remove all your aches, pains, worries and problems. There’s the sauna as well but we did not find time to use this, believe you me. We both thought that we would just have a lie in every morning. This was not to be , though. We’d both wake up almost every day before sunrise, if not at dawn just to watch pure magic unfold before our very eyes. After our stay in November 2010, we will surly not miss the opportunity to visit again. In fact my wife and I are already planning to do so as soon as time and work permits.

  my wife and myself stayed here in march 2010 and have fallen in love with alphaven and engelberg. The scenery is absolutely stunning, picture post card perfect and you can spent hours just staring at it. The apartment very well furnished and has all the conveniences you might require, The hottub was faboulous especially with a starry sky above. we would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone hope to visit again in the not so distant future. Thanks again john and ursula for a fabulous stay in your apartment

  It is not always that what you rent in the alps meet your expectations. But this apartment was much nicer than we could imagine! The views are completely stunning and the hottub is fantastic-set in a way that you see nothing else but the alps and the sky when using it. Everything in the apartment is of high quality, the fireplace is great. We were very nicely welcomed and everything was clean and nice. We tried both skiing areas, Titlis and Brunni, and liked them both very much, and we had wonderful fondues in the Alpenclub. We highly recommend renting this apartment and are looking forward to coming back to Engelberg and Alphaven!

  Our family of four, including 2 small children, arrived on a snowy day to find a perfectly lovely apartment that was well set up and just the right size for us. We awoke the next morning to an utterly amazing view of the snow covered mountains that surround the town. The area had everything we needed to keep us busy and comfortable and the landlords were quick to respond with any questions we had both prior and during our visit. A perfect place to relax and unwind after a day enjoying all the local area has to offer. We cannot wait to try it again during the summer.

  We have just got back from the most perfect weekend at Alphaven in Engelberg. The property was of the highest specification of any I have ever had the pleasure to stay in, with picture postcard views and every home comfort you can think of, right down to SKY TV...so no need to miss you favourite TV shows! Absolutely perfect! We were also there for the first snow fall of the season, which made the weekend even more special. Definitely heading back there soon! Thanks again John & Ursula!

  Alphaven was the perfect holiday apartment for our family. We rented 2 of the apartments in John and Ursula's chalet because we had 7 people. Everyone was thrilled with their accomodations--the kids especially liked the loft! My favorite thing was to wake up in the morning, with windows open (no mosquitos!!) and listen to the sound of the bells on the cattle up on the distant mountains. The kitchen facilities in both apartments were well equipped and immaculate... we ate in from time to time- getting our ingredients at the co-op. We were surprised at how wonderful the food was at the restaurants, though. Outstanding! We were there for 2 weeks and never ran out of adventurous things to do in Engelberg... Our favorites: Trotti bikes (although Grandma did fall off... scrapes and bruises only) hiking on level 2 of TITLIS side of mountain, sledding at the top of TITLIS, biking on the trails and streets, discovering waterfalls, taking photos of local historical architecture, horse and carriage ride, and fun shopping! We had the best vacation ever in Engelberg at Alphaven. My husband and I now want to retire there (well, in about 20 years.)

  We were searching the internet in Sept 2008 for places to stay in Switzerland (quite a large search area I admit) when we came across ‘Alphaven’. We tend to be somewhat sceptical when we find something that looks absolutely perfect as pictures can sometimes be very deceiving. Our scepticism was quashed when we spoke to John & Ursula (owners of Alphaven) – they were excellent – answering all of our questions quickly – nothing was too much trouble. We arrived at Engelberg in April 2009 to find temperatures touching 20 Deg C, hardly a cloud in sight with 12” of snow covering rooftops and the ground (apart from the roads that were clear). In reaching our destination - ‘Alphaven’, we found that it far exceeded our expectations! We found that Alphaven was the perfect base to visit so many outstanding places – Titlis, Grindelwald, The Eiger, Jungfaujoch, Luzerne, Pilatus, Rigi the list goes on. The holiday has been one that we will always remember- great apartment, great view, great weather, great location and excellent hosts. Thank you John & Ursula once again for making our holiday so special. We have no hesitation in recommending Alphaven as a perfect place to stay. Jamie & Alison

  If dreams where dreams and they came true , i wouldn’t be here! i would be in alphaven with my ski crew. Where mountains were high and the sky was blue Oh i would awake to heaven to see such a spectacular view. As you can tell poetry is not my forte but i have not the words to express how breathtakingly beautiful this place is, it is truly heaven on earth. The images displayed on the website, despite how beautiful they are, they do not give it justice. Initially when coming across the chalet pictures i was truly blown away, however pictures can be deceiving and i was not expecting something as spectacular, however it surely did surpass my expectations. I was literally jumping for joy as it was WOOW, but if you think the chalet was amazing you should have seen my reaction in the morning when my eyes witnessed the view , the sky was purple as the sun was rising for the purpose of creating a new day. I organised this trip for myself and 17 other friends so hired out chalet a,b,c, and honestly speaking it was one of the best experiences of our life. John and Ursula were so accommodating, thank you for making us feel at home. We cannot express in words the gratitude we have for all your help. We will definitely be returning one day . All in all this chalet is nothing less than perfect, the intricate detail in creating this master piece speak for itself. Thankyou once again John and Ursula , there is not even an element i can fault you on , the chalet did not have a single flaw, nor did you fail to disappoint us. You were the perfect host and we appreciate the endless help you provided in making this holiday special for us. We will definitely return one day.

  What a truly wonderful apartment, the description just does not do it justice!! after driving up from the town and opening the door to the apartment the whole town of Engelberg and the Mountains can be seen from the huge ceiling to floor windows, what a view it took our breathe away! and in the evening sitting on the verandah looking down on the twinkling lights of the town was just magical. The apartment is so well equipped, everything we needed was to hand. The weather was fantastic which allowed us to use the BBQ and Hot Tub much of the time, we had a wonderful relaxing stay and did as much and as little as we wanted. There is so much to do and see. We are looking forward to our next visit to what we call Alpheaven!! This is where we will be spending our 'special' vacations in future. Thank you Ursula and John for all of your help and advices prior to our visit.

  We are lucky enough to have stayed at Alphaven in Engelberg on two occasions. We found it purely by chance on the internet and it looked perfect from the very beginning. When you are booking a holiday from half a world away, there is always the possibility that you might be disappointed but Alphaven proved to be pure magic! The website was one of the best we've ever seen so we were reasonably confident that we had struck gold. Making a booking was very straight-forward and our hosts answered all our questions promptly. Thanks to the accurate directions provided, we had no difficulty in finding Alphaven once we finally arrived in Engelberg for the first time on a foggy afternoon. The chalet is stunning so seeing it for the first time really did take our breath away. We have rented Apartments A and C and we love the modern layout, the amenities which are too numerous to list, and the sparkling presentation. None of the luxuries have been forgotten here. During our first evening, the mountains made brief appearances through the cloud and it was difficult to remain seated at the dinner table as another snow covered peak would come into view. The enormous picture windows and generous balconies access the views with ease and the whole town of Engelberg is set out below you. We slept without drawing the curtains and were rewarded with panoramic views and perfect weather the next morning. Alphaven has looked after three generations of our family during our two visits and, despite the generation gap we have all had a ball. There is so much to do and see in the local area and if you don't feel like going out there is always "that view". We'll be back!

  We stayed in the apartment in the first week of December in 2007... it is THE best place we have ever stayed. The views are breathtaking, and seemed to get more breathtaking by the day. Every morning that I woke up I would jump straight out of bed and open up the shutters to get a glimpse of the view. We wanted for nothing, everything was there and more. The apartment was clean, spotless and looked after. The real fire was comforting and serene after a day out skiing and the cold. And the hot tub was amazing! We also had lots and lots of snow, it didn't stop snowing for a good few days and was beautiful to watch the heavy snow through the panoramic windows whilst warming our toes in front of the fire. I cannot wait to go back to this apartment... and we most definitely will! The chalet owners are really friendly and helpful too.
