Just 15 min away from Woodland Park, PIKES PEAK MOUNTAIN LAKE RETREAT is a perfect home base for exploring Pikes Peak Region: Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, Historic Manitou Springs and Historic Old Colorado City(a part of Colorado Springs) and Colorado Springs.

Settle into quiet relaxation or take off to enjoy the forest, the mountains and the lake, hiking trails, and prolific wildlife.

Have a picnic - food always tastes better outdoors. There is a MEDITATION BENCH in the backyard on the border with PIKE NATIONAL FOREST. You can take a book or just enjoy the nature, or watch the stars right above you - they seem to be so close: you lie on the deck at night and marvel at stars that never seemed so bright before...

Watch beautiful sunsets, enjoy panoramic mountain views, relax on the deck with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, catch up on some work at the desk if you are on a working vacation.

If you enjoy hiking, biking or riding ATV/dirt bike there are a lot of trails around. The Pike National Forest, located in the heart of Colorado, is probably the most well-known and popular National Forest in the state. Pike National Forest offers a variety of recreation opportunities: trophy trout streams, abundant and varied wildlife, seven Fourteeners (mountains with peaks above 14,000 feet), many miles of trails...

If you would like to explore other areas, Mueller State Park’s 50 miles of trails also provide a great 'playground' for the hiker, mountain biker, wildlife watcher and winter sports enthusiast. A popular wildlife watching area. Park visitors traverse the park’s numerous trails on foot, snowshoes, cross-country skis, horseback and mountain bike, depending on the season

Fly Fishing – Gold Medal fishing can be found in the famed South Platte River located approximately 7 miles from the property. Gill Trail offers Gold Medal catch-and-release fishing along the Platte River.

You can go cross-country skiing right from the doorstep. There are motorcycles, ATV and four wheel drive trails and roads in the adjacent Pike National Forest. Great trails for mountain biking. No need to bring your bike you can rent bikes and get trail information at Woodland Park Shop(Team Telecycle).

Walk across the street to the lake or a creek a couple of miles away. In the spring, wildflowers bloom along the pass you'll probably want to take down to the lake.

Please inquire more INFORMATION & LINKS to view more PICTURES of the property and area attractions. You will find more information and visitor guides at the house.

We stayed for a week in early March during Texas spring break. We LOVED this cabin and truly, the photos don't do it justice. Quiet, peaceful, serene. We had snow that week and the views from the living were divine. Home was clean and and décor was a nice mountain theme in every room. Beds beyond comfortable and the master bedroom has a small kiddy bedroom nearby which was perfect for smaller kids who don't want to be far away from parents. Towel warmers in both bathrooms, nice game room, kitchen has everything you need. It is remote, which we loved and the drive through the little dirt roads with lots of rain and snow was kept clear and safe. There is a bit of an incline and we had quite a bit of ice and snow. It was a bit of a challenge for us due to our child with special needs but it was worth the challenge! Lots of privacy and wildlife. We have stayed in quite a few VRBO properties across the country and this property was the only property that we truly did not want to leave. We only saw one tourist sight because we wanted to stay home. My kids cried as we departed but we left with really great memories. So we left wanting more and we would definitely rent this property again in the future and we give this a definite 5 stars!!!

Owner response: Thank you so much for your review! You are a wonderful family and we would be happy to accommodate you again. Julia

I want to say thank you so much for letting us stay at your home over the holidays. The house was beautiful and there was snow, which made my kids so happy. We made great memories there and enjoyed being away from the fast pace that comes with our normal routine. That vacation allowed us to really enjoy the remainder of 2013 and we will be forever grateful. Once again, thank you so much for making our 1st trip to Colorado so memorable.

I rented the Pikes Peak Mountain Retreat for my wife and I, our two daughters and their families. It exceeded our expectations in every way. It is in a remote and peaceful setting with breathtaking scenery, yet less than an hour's drive to the attractions around Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. My three grandsons, ages 3, 6 and 13 especially enjoyed the evening walks down to bridge across the wetlands to watch the beavers swimming in and around their lodge and dam. The home is clean, comfortable and well furnished with everything you need for a week's stay. There is enough space that we could all have our privacy when we needed it and still be together for meals and activities. The owner, Julia was very helpful and quick to respond to all questions and other communications. I can highly recommend this vacation home with a 5 star rating and would love to come back again for another stay.

This was a family vacation. Grandparents, children, and grandchild. I did not realize there was still such a quiet, serene place left on our planet. Absolutely beautiful. The weather was gorgeous, saw beaver building dams birds, chipmunks etc. The breeze blowing thru the pine-trees was so awesome. Very comfortable home, with everything we needed. We did several day trips while we were there, but we truly could have just stayed at the chalet and we would have been just as happy. Go south on Hwy. 67 to a little town named Deckers if you get a chance. Sweet little place with a great grill and the ice cream is incredible. Its 10 miles from the chalet and beautiful scenery all the way. GREAT VACATION

Owner response: Thank you so much for a wonderful review. Your family is welcome any time. There is also a great white water rafting on Platte River by Deckers and fly fishing...

Beautiful home! It was great to have a home base to explore local attractions. We would go out in the morning to Manitou Springs or Woodland Park to see the sights then come back and cook dinner and have a relaxing evening. My children think the house was the best part of our whole vacation, the game room in the basement probably has something to do with that. The home was clean and comfortably furnished. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and dishes for cooking and serving. This was our first experience with VRBO and Julia was very helpful. We will definitely do this type of vacation again. Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful time at your cabin and you provided everything our family of 5 needed for a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we loved sitting out on the patio every night, eating dinner, playing games, or just taking in the views. You made the stay and the coordination process a breeze with easy to follow instructions and your willingness to constantly communicate with me to answer any and all my questions. It was a great pleasure meeting you and we look forward to visiting one of your locations again in 2013. Thanks again. You made my vacation all it could have been!

Hi Julia, I just wanted to say thank you for the use of your house. We had a great time and enjoyed staying there. My son says it was the best part of the vacation. Once again, thanks so much. This was my first time using a VRBO property and I will certainly do it again. We loved having a home base to see all the sights in the area. Thanks again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous retreat. In all we had six adults and seven little children and there was something for everyone here. The kids loved watching movies in the loft and playing with the toys in the basement. The adults spent time playing games, talking, and sharing cooking responsibilities. We spent the week of Thanksgiving here and were a little concerned that it would be tough to make a large Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. But what a well-stocked kitchen! From cooking pies to roasting our bird, to making all the sides, we had everything we needed and more. (The state-of-the-art microwave is nearly a sentient being. Very useful!) The accommodations are luxurious. The master suite is plush and comfortable. We easily were able to arrange all of our family stuff in the room. Adjacent to the master suite is a small bedroom with teddy bears, tons of picture books and a TV/DVD unit - perfect for our twins. The master bath was huge and we enjoyed all the little touches that made it feel more like a spa - a towel heater, digital scale, rain shower head in the giant shower... The rest of the house was just as nice. Everyone had a comfortable bed to enjoy and there were 13 of us! But the nicest part was the view. As others have said, this place looks over a private lake and the pictures here don't do it justice. We enjoyed our hikes through the area. At night, the sky is breathtaking. We took the kids to the North Pole amusement park which is near the retreat. The house also offered dozens of brochures from various attractions in the area. It is a remote place so there wasn't any cell reception or internet, although the owner has let us know that they will be adding internet access soon. The proximity to nearby Woodland Park made it convenient to grab supplies, a latte, and check email when needed. If you are looking for a place to be your family's getaway, someplace peaceful and picturesque without sacrificing comfort and convenience, this is it!

I studied all the available places to stay around Colorado Springs. This one seemed to fit our family size, the place we wanted to be, and the type of place to take our family on our Colorado vacation. The pictures in the web site showed exactly how the house looked when we got there. Built in the side of a mountain. The written description doesn't include the fact that the basement is totally a kids room, including games, play house tents, fuseball, and air hockey tables. Our kids utilized this game room and left the adults enjoying each other a share of the time. The place was spotlessly clean, the cupboards were fully stocked with dishes, appliances, etc. We were totally satisfied. We were near so much to do. We went horseback riding thru Garden of the Gods, drove up Pikes Peak, also rode the train, Threw snowballs at each other.(It snowed the day we rode the train) We went to the North Pole, Colorado isn't a swimming area, but we did find a campground in Woodland Park, just beyond walmart, with a nice pool, and allowed swimming for 4.00 per person. Also, the most utilized was Platte River. It has spots you can play in the water, but the most fun is tubing. It is a shallow, clean, fast moving river, we bought tubes and found the public spots where you can go into the river and go tubing. We went on 3 different days. You can buy tubes for 2-3 people, and I recommend these for people with small kids. Every morning, I am an early riser, so I made coffee, and sat by the window. There were deer right in the front yard. One morning I saw a deer with 2 fawns. You have to cross a bridge to get to the house, and we noticed a beaver dam, so around dusk we walked down there, and the beavers were very busy eating, and playing, and working. They didn't seem to mind us watching. A few miles from the house, we saw a herd of elk (around 20) strolling across the road. If you are in to wildlife, this is the place to be. We are. I would recommend this to anyone. It was a wonderful vacation. I contacted the owner many times before we went, she was very patient, gave us total directions from both Denver airport, and Colorado Springs. Cordially, Nancy from Ohio

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. We had ten people in our party and were all very comfortable. There were lots of toys and games for the kids, which was awesome as it kept them all occupied. The views of the forest and mountains were beautiful and the decks were great for enjoying some morning or evening quiet time, listening to nature. The fully furnished kitchen was awesome. We did most of our eating over our five day stay at the cabin, which saved us some money to spend on activities rather than eating every meal at a restaurant. There were plenty of awesome places to go within a short drive from the cabin. We went to the Dinosaur Resource Center, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Florrisant Fossil Beds and Cripple Creek...those were all fairly close. We also took a drive to Buena Vista, which was absolutely stunning and drove down toward Alamosa on the way home and went to the Gator Farm, which was lots of fun. Thanks for an awesome vacation :-).
