Are you looking for something different ...a clean, fresh and well-maintained beach home? Then welcome to our Rio Del Mar Beach Home, Beach House 257, and a slice of heaven to share with you!

Our Beach Home is 5-7 minutes away from Capitola Village, 10-12 minutes away from Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Downtown Santa Cruz! 40-45 minutes away from Monterey, Carmel, and 17-mile drive! Gilroy Outlets, 40-45 minutes. SERIOUSLY! Time depends upon traffic, day, time of day. We are VERY centrally located to any and all! San Francisco is about 1-1/2 hr away, again depending upon traffic. Aptos has such a family, friendly, wonderful feel, we wish you to enjoy and experience as well!

There is a wonderful ocean and beach view from the master bedroom balcony. K, are you asking "where is the peak of the ocean view?" We don't mention the peak...since you are wondering, from the half bath there is a "peak" between the condos across the street. Our pictures are accurate, we do not embellish in the least. We wish our guests to be pleasantly "surprised" upon arrival! One needs to experience Beach House 257 to truly appreciate. We love hearing our guest's excitement in e-mails just before arriving! Then understanding their sadness to leave Beach House 257. Our heart is with them in leaving ...we feel the same way. There is something special about Beach House 257, and one needs to experience to understand …it is such a great home to be with each other, family, and friends. There is something about the ocean, coast and life ...together.

Our guests have the ability to be in communication 24/7 with both Scott and I, Diane. There is much communication sent prior to arrival/instructions/expectations. Scott and I have tried to think of any and all things to make our guests experience a comfortable, joyful and memory building stay. We at one time were a beach home rental guests, therefore our Beach House 257 will reflect us, you as guests, your needs and expectations. We listen when a guest of Beach House 257 makes a suggestion, truly we do!

We love the drive in on Rio Del Mar Blvd from Highway 1, the beauty of the drive ...as one approaches Beach House 257, descending down the hill, the massive view of the ocean and beach, our hearts race, we are there, Beach House 257, heartbeat of Rio Del Mar. Enjoy the views, enjoy the ride, and enjoy this slice of heaven! You will not be disappointed in Beach House 257 as well as the marvels of Aptos and surrounding areas!

Our beach home has a contemporary style that is inviting for comfort, enjoyment and very well maintained. There are many windows and skylights to allow natural light, which enhances the beauty of the hardwood floors throughout. Many amenities are included for your comfort and stay, including: high ceilings, skylights, new dual pane windows, hardwood floors, fresh paint, soft water, electronic air-filtration system, high speed wireless internet and a LCD HDTV/Home Theater System. A one-car garage as well as two off-street parking spaces is available for guest use.

The living, dining, kitchen area as well as the other two bedrooms look out over Rio Del Mar with gorgeous mountain views by day and romantic city lights at night.

Biking enthusiasts love the area! They own the roads, not vehicles. Vehicles are respectful to the biking enthusiast, pedestrians, animals and community in general.

  • Beach House 257 is so lovely! Scott and Diane are so organized, helpful, and friendly, and this property is really incredible. It was the perfect home base for my new husband and I on our wedding weekend. We stayed there with my very fussy mom, as well as my sister, her husband, and their 3 year old, and everyone enjoyed it! We didn't eat a single meal in a restaurant because the kitchen was so cozy and the view from the dining room was beautiful. And the beach nearby was exactly the right place for us to have a huge s'mores bonfire after the wedding with our grandmothers and baby cousins. We live just 15 minutes away but we're tempted to come back soon!

  • We had a great time with a group of friends, including two toddlers who were comfortable in the space -- we used the plastic gate to block the stairs. Many meals were cooked here, and everything we needed was available. We had an easy drive to Monterey and a day trip to San Francisco, and, of course, we enjoyed the local beach, including the sea life touch tank at the state park visitors center. The owners are very organized and all the information you need is provided. Thanks!

  • We drove 1900 miles to stay at Beach House 257, and it was well worth the drive! This house was clean, and very conveniently located. We never felt like we were "tourists". The beach was awesome! Located just down the hill as you see in the pictures. The view out the back windows was neat to look at over morning coffee, and we did have a drink out on the master bedroom balcony...nice! The kids had a great time...there was plenty of space for them to "disappear". Be sure to go to the Crow's Nest and Zelda's for seafood while you're there.

  • The Beach House was beautiful. Locations was ideal for walking to the beach. The house was fully stocked and felt more like a hotel. The downstairs shower was the best after a day at the beach. Our son enjoyed the Nintendo 64.

  • Great Unique place. Roomy for us adults and everything you need to be more than comfortable. The location was excellent if you're looking for a place close to everywhere yet quiet and out of the traffic snarls. Beach is a stones through. Owners were incredibly easy to deal with and on top of it...... Thanks!

  • BH 257 exceeded our expectations by a mile. We only wish we had had more time to spend there. Scott & Diane were so much fun to deal with. Easy going yet very effecient and business like. We had 7 staying at the house for a wedding and there was plenty of room not only for sleeping but getting ready as well. The house is well stocked with every necessity from bandaids to bath towels - they have thought of it all. Very tastefully decorated. The beds & showers were awesome. Location was perfect. Not only for easy beach access but sightseeing as well. We took our GPS which helped on the windy roads in but a map would have been fine. Would definetly stay there again if that area is our destination.

  • What a wonderful stay we had at Beach House 257. We very much enjoyed the close proximity to the beach...it was a quick walk down even with 4 small kids with us! The house itself was open and airy...the big windows in the kitchen had fantastic views. The beds were cozy, and we so appreciated how well stocked the kitchen and laundry room were. They also had many towels which was great. Also much appreciated was the babygates, which came in handy with all the stairs in this charming home. Would recommend this home to anyone!

  • My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful four days at Beach House 257. The accommodations were modern, clean, and yet afforded some privacy with bedrooms on separate floors. The location is terrific- close to the beach, shopping, and other attractions. The Schendels were very nice and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. I would highly recommend making Beach House 257 your CA home away from home.

  • Truly a beautiful getaway home to spend a weekend or week in! The house is gorgeous with its hardwood floors, high ceilings, open kitchen and the views of the beach and the area are a bonus! The house is artfully decorated to help you feel like you're really on vacation with all the accents. Very clean and everything you need is there for you, even the latest magazines! Owners of this home are great with corresponding and are very nice.
