The house is beautiful and is a quick walk to the ocean. The family all stayed comfortably and the house is well equipped for us to cook delicious meals together, play games with the board games provided and we all slept well. Thanks a ton- we will be suggesting to friends and fam to stay there if in the SC area!!!

We enjoyed looking out over the valley from this 4 story, rather luxurious beach house. It was clean & very well maintained. Felt like eagles nesting. The living, dining, kitchen level pulled family members together nicely. The area is upscale & made for fun--the Beach bean coffee house & convenience store down the hill were well placed. Daily long walks along the beach--some followed by porpoises & huge waves; & always enjoying the many breeds of dogs. Up the hill in Aptos lies a stunning redwood forest (Nisene) which made us feel like Ewoks. Hopping in the car, a short drive to Monterey, Big Sur, the many surfing beaches of Santa Cruz, Kuumbwa Jazz Club, & up the coast to state parks, & many other points of interest. The owners were always honest & gracious. Highly recommended.

We had a fabulous time at this adorable beach house in Aptos. The owners were wonderful to work with and the house was spotless. Well-stocked kitchen, great sleeping accommodations, and an easy walk to the beach. The only thing we would change is the living room area seating. It was pretty tight for the six of us to all find a comfy place to sit. Other than that, nothing but praise for this vrbo!

It was chancy...leave our cosy family home for a rental experience during Christmas? But we couldn't have been more pleased! The 3 story home appealed to our aesthetic taste: beautiful wood and windows everywhere! Nice furniture and decorative touches- it really felt like it was ours for the 4 day stay. We had such a good time we even called on the last day to see if we could extend our visit! The owners were extremely easy to work with and very professional. It was clear that this place was more to them than just a rental. It was also their home away from home and that really showed. Just one caution. You will need to bring your own hair dryer. But that's easy.

As soon as I walked through the front doors I was instantly happy. Beach House 257 does not disappoint. All the reviews and pictures I had read and reviewed prior to arrival were all accurate. Our three night stay was so comfortable. The beach house was very clean, well organized and stocked with necessities. Coordinating with Scott was easy and smooth. He was very professional and had all the necessary instructions and directions to make our stay so comfortable. A pleasure to work with. Beach and views were gorgeous! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The beach house was everything I hoped for. The house was exactly as on the website pictures and facebook video. All rental paperwork was perfectly in order and our last minute questions by phone and email were answered very quickly. The towels, bedding etc. were clean and fresh and the house was very complete with everything you might need during your stay. The wireless internet is for our family of work-a-holics an absolute must, and the boys were thrilled to find a game system. Our little doggy was also a happy camper in the house. The beach is just a few minutes away on foot, and for lunch the nearby Pixie restaurant is a great choice. We had a wonderful dinner at Bittersweet Bistro in Aptos and we went to the Cinema and Ihop restaurant in Capitola. We'll be back!

We spent 4 nights at this rental and loved all of it. The place was adorable and clean and convenient. We brought along our well behaved Golden Retrievers who had as much fun as we did. The owners were very accommodating. The house was fully stocked with towels and sheets and utensils. The deli down the street was a great hangout after a full day of running on the beach a half block away. Our three year old son slept like a log in the downstairs bedroom and played all the games that the owners left in a cabinet. We will be returning as soon as we get som additional time off.

We truly enjoyed our time here, the house is close to the beach, very comfortable we felt very much at home. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals at home. The pixie deli down the street was a great place for lunch. We loved our walks on the beach, the fireplace and sitting up on the balcony for the sunset. We also loved being able to bring our dog, the beaches are so dog friendly she had a blast! Scott and Diane are very accommodating and we would love to stay at their beach house again. We rented the BH257 over the Thanksgiving weekend and had a fantastic time! The house is very well stocked, nicely furnished and very conveniently located very close to the beach. It is somewhat narrow but tall with many stairs between levels, which I was initially concerned about, but it turned that our kids (ages 3-7) had a BLAST running up and down and exploring different parts of the house! Scott & Diane are great hosts and all the communication was extremely smooth. One suggestion: the kitchen is fantastically stocked with plates, bowls etc, but we lacked some medium size pots for cooking... Overall, a fantastic place, and we will be back again in the summer!

I've probably rented 40 - 50 VRBO properties for both business and family trips and they're fare superior to a hotel room, especially if your plans include a 3 - 7 night stay, but some of the locations are much better than others. This Rio Del Mar/Aptos condo is another great VRBO property. Breathtaking views from the north facing side (including the master bdrm and family room), only a few minutes walk to the beach and close to Santa Cruz, Monterey, Seascape, etc. The owners put a great deal of thought into design and renovation. Everything from the hardwood floors to the paint, linens, etc. look either new or very well kept. (September 2010) I'm sure we'll be back.

My friends and I stayed here over Labor Day Weekend and were all extremely pleased with everything about the beach house. All the various facilities and rooms, accessibility of supplies, location.... everything really. It's just a short walk from the beach and there's a grocery barely 5 minutes away and provided the perfect setting for my friends to get together and spend the holiday. We were REALLY happy that we were able to find and stay in THIS house.

This was our second trip to Scott & Diane's home in Aptos. We love this house! We have rented vacation homes in several other cities but the Rio Del Mar house is the best stocked house we've seen. You don't have to run out to the store to buy random items...everything is there! It is beautiful, clean, comfortable and aside from the hill (which is good exercise!) it is very conveniently located. Just a short drive from the bay area and you feel like you are worlds away. Scott was very nice to deal with too! Thanks so much for letting us enjoy another weekend away. The Hendricksons

What a wonderful stay at Beach House 257! Our family traveled from Wisconsin to California and found the location of the home perfect while seeing all the sites in central coast California! It was just a short walk down the hill to Rio Del Mar Beach with great views and sounds from the sea lions. The home was well stock with all the amenities needed to be our resting stop during our vacation … plus there’s plenty of shopping near by. Our children enjoyed the ground level floor plan and having their very own two sink bathroom! A great place, a great time, and we hope to visit again soon!

We absolutely loved our stay. We brought all 3 of our children ages 22, 20, and 14 who in turn each brought a friend. We haven't had a family vacation together under one roof in 4 years. We had a fabulous time. They can't wait to do it again. There is alot to do and the weather was perfect. Next time we plan to stay longer than 4 days. It was more than what we expected. The place was spotless and very modern. The floor plan was made to give everyone lots of privacy. We can't wait to go back next year!!!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the beach house. Everything was exactly as described in the listing, and the house was so clean. It was so great for the 5 of us to really spread out. We had just come from staying in 2 hotel rooms near Yosemite, and had felt so cramped there. The location of the beach house is perfect. About a 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach. The kids loved playing in the water there. Using the beach house as our base, we visited San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Monterey and Carmel. It truly is a great central location. I only hope we can come back someday.

I have never felt so at home than at the beach house. The views from the living/dining area were as spectacular as the pictures portrayed. The beach, just steps from the door, was clean and the water inviting. The sunken ship has been a favorite topic since returning from our vacation! Our visits to Monerey, Capitola and the Santa Cruz boardwalk were fun filled and entertaining. What made the beach house perfect was the fact that we didn't have to travel far to enjoy ourselves at these well known cities. I look forward to visiting again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the beach to anyone deciding on a trip to California.

WOW!! What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beach......The views of the valley and the ocean were wonderful. We fished on the pier and had a wonderful time.....a whale even came by to say hello!!! The house has lots of room to spread out and everyone has a little space of their own. The beds were very comfy and the house was prefect. The owners are a dream to work with. I have rented many homes in the past....this is by far the easiest rental ever!!!! We will be back to beach house 257 very soon. If you only get one vacation this is the place to go. The rates are very good. I did alot of shopping around and this was by far the best deal!!!

Beach House 257 is so lovely! Scott and Diane are so organized, helpful, and friendly, and this property is really incredible. It was the perfect home base for my new husband and I on our wedding weekend. We stayed there with my very fussy mom, as well as my sister, her husband, and their 3 year old, and everyone enjoyed it! We didn't eat a single meal in a restaurant because the kitchen was so cozy and the view from the dining room was beautiful. And the beach nearby was exactly the right place for us to have a huge s'mores bonfire after the wedding with our grandmothers and baby cousins. We live just 15 minutes away but we're tempted to come back soon!

We had a great time with a group of friends, including two toddlers who were comfortable in the space -- we used the plastic gate to block the stairs. Many meals were cooked here, and everything we needed was available. We had an easy drive to Monterey and a day trip to San Francisco, and, of course, we enjoyed the local beach, including the sea life touch tank at the state park visitors center. The owners are very organized and all the information you need is provided. Thanks!

We drove 1900 miles to stay at Beach House 257, and it was well worth the drive! This house was clean, and very conveniently located. We never felt like we were "tourists". The beach was awesome! Located just down the hill as you see in the pictures. The view out the back windows was neat to look at over morning coffee, and we did have a drink out on the master bedroom balcony...nice! The kids had a great time...there was plenty of space for them to "disappear". Be sure to go to the Crow's Nest and Zelda's for seafood while you're there.

BH 257 exceeded our expectations by a mile. We only wish we had had more time to spend there. Scott & Diane were so much fun to deal with. Easy going yet very effecient and business like. We had 7 staying at the house for a wedding and there was plenty of room not only for sleeping but getting ready as well. The house is well stocked with every necessity from bandaids to bath towels - they have thought of it all. Very tastefully decorated. The beds & showers were awesome. Location was perfect. Not only for easy beach access but sightseeing as well. We took our GPS which helped on the windy roads in but a map would have been fine. Would definetly stay there again if that area is our destination.

What a wonderful stay we had at Beach House 257. We very much enjoyed the close proximity to the beach...it was a quick walk down even with 4 small kids with us! The house itself was open and airy...the big windows in the kitchen had fantastic views. The beds were cozy, and we so appreciated how well stocked the kitchen and laundry room were. They also had many towels which was great. Also much appreciated was the babygates, which came in handy with all the stairs in this charming home. Would recommend this home to anyone!

I stayed here with my two kids (8 and 5) in April. The house was very nice, very homey, yet very clean. We had a great time. It really is only a 2 minute walk to the beach. On our one "rainy" day, we went to the Monterey Aquarium (only 40 minutes away). This was a perfect getaway for me and my kids. The owners, Scott and Diane, were extremely accomodating -- they even took it on their own to mail us a pair of left behind pjs.

Beach House 257 is the perfect backdrop for a romantic escape. It's cozy, comfortable, charming and offers ocean views from the master balcony. From the family room the impressive, over-sized windows overlook the village and in the evening the twinkling lights are a special sight as you relax in front of the roaring fire. Master bedroom skylights offers bedtime stargazing which is a real treat on a clear night! The master shower is fun, too, as it's built for two! There are many wonderful restaurants in the area, but if you like to cook, the kitchen in Beach House 257 is a chef's dream with everything you'd ever need. We stopped at Deluxe Foods one day (a fabulous grocery store on the way to Beach House 257) and picked up fresh crab, champagne, sourdough bread and salad fixings. Sitting down to enjoy our seafood feast we toasted our romantic weekend and said to ourselves that life doesn't get any better than this. We highly recommend Beach House 257!
